So I just did the first Forsaken mission. Going from DLC 1 into DLC 2 immediately into Forsaken, and...what's up with the drastic increase in the quality of the writing in Forsaken? It's like I'm not playing a game made by the same people.
A lot of the clan Gambit bounties basically say 'play gambit'. Oh, they have other words on their but they're practically impossible to not fulfill and usually in the first round.

The way I interpret the powerful system is that once you out level something you really shouldn’t expect an increase from it.
There’s a small 1/8 or so chance you will but for the most part, no.
It’s better than no chance. As it would’ve been in past hard capped systems.
Once you get to 540 expect your main upgrades to be raid and dreaming city (aka the end Game) don’t expect them to be dailies and weeklies etc
You’ve effectively out leveled that content. It’d be like going to a level 1 zone in any mmo and expecting your level 50 char to level there.
Viewing it that way, I have like zero disappointment. I don’t expect those things to level me up. Because they aren’t designed to.
I'm guessing you arent over 540? Because this isnt really true, unless all your gear is the exact same level.
My Titan still gets powerful drops from dailies and weeklies and he's just broken 580, all powerful drops can be used to get slots thats lacking behind the others, up to the average and in most cases even +1 beyond that.
My current problem is mainly that my guns are higher than my alts armor pieces and then I sometimes get (wasted) weapons 10 times straight, its frustrating and its annoying.
This is a pure RNG system, one that Blizzard warned them against using, argued that they should at least put in a "Bad Luck" safeguard system otherwise people playing will get a negative experience of said system and they will tell other people.
Does applying modifiers to the NF raise or lower your chance to recieve the unique loot?
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.
Can you go into more detail if known, please. I got the Braytech last week on a no modifier run that tbh was not flawless by any means. Which modifiers do what?

According to Bungie higher score = higher chance at strike specific loot.
A high score isn't required for the loot, however.
So modifiers that increase your score will result in a higher chance at a strikes loot, assuming you're successful and your score is high.
0 points with harsh modifiers and 0 points with a lot of beneficial modifiers, is still 0 points, though.
Modifiers themselves aren't multipliers to the drop chance, simply increase the potential for higher scores and thus higher chances.
You're still going to have people getting things with no modifiers or only good things like heavyweight, and people who have ran 100k+ scores dozens of times and have gone empty handed.
0 points with harsh modifiers and 0 points with a lot of beneficial modifiers, is still 0 points, though.
Of course, you're gonna be running it at least a couple times either way so you'll have plenty of chances to improve your run. You might get less points than normal on your first high-score attempt but you'll probably be blowing your normal scores out of the water by your fifth.

Yeah sorry I wasn't suggesting not using modifiers, simply trying to explain that score is what changes the drop rate, not the modifiers themselves.
If you just want to go for speed on nightfall clears, me and my 2 brothers are fond of running solar singe with brawler, using two blade barrage hunters and me as a gracelock.

tl:dw Synthoceps with the new sunbreaker subclass looks to give a nice damage increase to the super. An even bigger damage increase if you can get a 3 stack of Roaring Flame.
Base game done, light level like 240? What's next? Just the expansions?
You know the thing on the left side of your Director screen that you have to press E to open? It's like a guide telling you what to do next. After beating the base game, I went and did Curse of Osiris because that was the lowest Light Level activity I could find from the left side thingy. After Osiris, I did Warmind. Now I'm working on Forsaken.
I did have to stop and grind public events/daily rewards a few times because I wasn't gaining Light Level fast enough to keep up with the story missions. I hear that's pretty normal, though.

yeah also getting your character level up seems to increase the boost you get from blues before the soft cap (500)
anecdotally. i don’t have anything to base this on other than my own experience
but running some pub events and lost sectors is probably the quickest way to grind up in between story content

Planetary bounties as well. Though you have to be discriminating as some will happen with no effort, some with a little effort and others are stupid grindy for little reward.

i find sometimes you can't really predict which bounties will be easy and which will be stupid, so i just pick them all up, run around the planet until i've gotten two done, and then evaluate how i feel about the third and then either complete it or dump it
Some of them like "Kill 10 minotaurs with fusion rifles" are obviously a bit silly when stacked against stuff like "Get 10 precision kills". One of those is going to require actual effort while the other will probably just happen.
Of course, then you have stuff like Zavala's "Complete TWELVE Public Events" stacked against "45 solar kills" when they both grant the same reward. With Solar weapons equipped it would be entirely possible (if rare) to do the second one in a single public event. 1/12th the effort, all the reward.

i am reminded of the two patrols in braytech on mars that are clearly backwards variables in the code
one is kill 3 cabal
the other is kill 11 psions

EDZ also has a kill a million Psions patrol so it seems a conscious choice.

hmm that is true
and there's a kill 9 vandals one on nessus in a zone where like only two vandals spawn at all if a public event isn't going
I was having flashbacks to this with the "kill 5 (or 6) vandals" one in Tangled Shore but then you are like "Oh wow, there's like 10 vandals in this area, spawning constantly" and so it was fine.
I think I'm going to try grinding Lake of Shadows for that kinetic grenade launcher. And then run around with a triple grenade launcher loadout. It's got some pretty intriguing perks on it too.
There's a patrol in The Strand in the Dreaming City for collecting items from Scorn... uh... the dudes with flaming censers. Except those dudes do not spawn anywhere in the Strand that I've found except during the Public Event.

Uh, sometimes r/DtG actually comes up with a good idea.
This would provide a more consistent and reliable method for earning infusion materials, give purpose to an underused/redundant resource, and make Ghosts with telemetry perks much more valuable.

this isn't terrible
but also i don't like this idea that infusion should be highly gated and resource restricted in the first place so i dunno heh
maybe if infusing up to your power level were free or just cost glimmer, but infusing above it cost resources maybe?
i mean if we're going to be wishing for a fix to the system anyway might as well just go all in instead of simply replacing one obnoxious resource with another :P
I like the idea that the first infusion on a given item is free, with compunding costs for subsequent infusions. That way it discourages you from just infusing the same thing up incrementally and still makes you think when infusing things
I got a masterwork core Y1 armor last night and it bummed me out that they didn't even bother to put static additional columns on the armor because old armor always has some kind of forced obsolescence placed upon it.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
For the benefit of @Cheeseliker and others with the same concerns--we're getting another burst on deals for SSDs on NewEgg and presumably Amazon to follow today as well. Could be good for anyone looking for smaller but faster storage upgrade options (or owns a PS4, where you can swap it internally).

Was home with a sick piglet. Didn't know how long I was going to get so was just trying to grind out a couple bounties.

If that's the "have 5 motes" one, despite what it says that's actually anyone have 5 motes, not only yourself.

destinysets.com has a tab with strikes and their drops, including emblem variants. I'm sure there's a more minimal quick list somewhere.
