So my thoughts are that heroic ghuun is a bad fight that no one important likes.

But mother is a good fight that everyone cool enjoys

So we should do mythic mother on thursday.

But then how will I get Ahead Of The Curve so I can put my alt into pug raids and screw up tank mechanics and make them disband?

most groups will take a mythic achievement instead of ahead of the curve
they assume you already have AoTC if you link mythic mother. The fools.

I did a quick AD+0 this morning to do Vol'Jin's ashes and tried out shadow DPS. I did okay, but boy did that rotation feel awkward. It seems that shadow requires more than just some numbers tweaks to really settle in.

So I tried it out in LFR, and demon hunters can in fact solo orbs pretty quickly and easily, but it requires the leap from meta to do before the orb roots you entirely.

Which sucks, because it means my parses are gonna be dog mess everytime

If you are running orbs, they already are.

Even though I was already on a raid break and mostly the game itself overall, my guild has officially ceased raiding altogether.

Most of the officers got burnt out, no one wanted to raid lead, and quite frankly I think most of us felt like uldir is not a good raid and the expansion is bad.

Not sure what I'll do now. The next raid could be better? But the guild probably won't reboot anytime soon. I'm not really someone to play casually but a big part of why I stopped raiding is because I couldn't find a class or spec I really liked.

I kinda like demonology not gonna lie. Too bad it's still Garbo.

    That sucks Adus :(

I've been really enjoying Uldir, I think it's definitely a better opening raid than Emerald Nightmare was. EN was perhaps a bit too easy? I don't remember how long it took us to clear heroic but I feel like it was less than it's taking us for Uldir.

en was easy but it was more fun. I don't really like many of uldir's bosses. Though again that also could just be a consequence of not finding a class I enjoy.

Part of it could be that so many fights have adds and if you're not a rogue, warrior, or dh then good luck keeping up on the meters.

the big problem it has is that it's designed with legion levels and functionality of voidform, but they dramatically reduced both power and duration of voidform... and so far the spec has seen 0 changes on the ptr.

just don't look at meters if it's making you upset

i played a shit spec for the entirety of legion because i liked unholy, if you're not doing mythic progression, who cares

their solution to the problem of "Being in voidform is the only fun times and you're rewarded greatly for staying in it as long as possible which makes you feel bad if you cant do that." was nerf void form so staying in it forever no longer is super rewarding. No other changes needed of course. Blizz style.

If the bosses are dying and you are having fun it shouldn’t really matter what your DPS is for the most part. Obviously people should be trying to do better from week to week, but if your raid is successful that’s the ultimate goal.

it's not even that, really. for instance, going into voidform is the only real decent aoe, and you don't want to use mind sear for aoe because that generates insanity, meaning you don't fall out of voidform to cast the aoe again. currently the best shadow azerite trait gives you crit after voidform ends. it is based on stacks so you don't want it to just fall off, and it does synergize with the talent to instantly get into a new void form, but it still feels bad to get a power spike when voidform ENDS

it's such a weird, self defeating design

  • TynnanTynnan seldom correct, never unsure Registered User regular
Seems like they could solve that problem by moving the AOE from Void Eruption onto abilities cast while in voidform (and probably changing the Void Eruption name to reflect this. And tweaking values to compensate.)

  • ZayZay yes i am zay Registered User regular
but that would mean that staying in voidform is more important, like in legion, which they specifically tried to get away from in bfa! it definitely needs some major overhauls that i don't think it's going to get

  • TynnanTynnan seldom correct, never unsure Registered User regular
Yeah, maybe they should just scrap voidform altogether. Maybe convert insanity into a different type of resource. It feels like they tried to make it Not Like Rage, but they overstepped in doing so.

None do too, and I can only assume that’s based on raidwide execution and how we’re collectively dealing with mechanics.

Like, for groups with decent damage and more than 1 Death Knights, it’s likelythey just stay in the middle the entire time and cleave adds.

Ya we're doing something wrong with Mythrax. I think I might need to do some poking around Altered Time and the discord to see if there's been any discussion on using fire mage on that fight. Going from consistent 60's and 70's to the teens is not normal.

I think it's got to be positioning. We haven't been very strict about defining sectors and placement, and that's probably where the execution and dps percentile drops are coming from. I can't do it right now, but it's probably worth using the Warcraft Logs replay function on a high-percentile guild parse to see how they're assigning territory and movement. We improved in clustering the mind flay adds and that got us over the line to actually drop the boss, but there's got to be a lot more to gain there.

I do well on my parses unless I get killed or have to sandbag to do a mechanic, and I do exceptionally well if I'm lucky and can tunnel, that's just how DPS is.

At this point my focus on getting better is M+ and Arena where making clutch plays with niche spells is a huge deal. I am 100% autopiloting Uldir.

My best parse was probably when everybody else was dead so I had a real nice extended execute phase on M Taloc.

Hey you know what: it’s actually really really stupid that premonition is on the GCD. It’s a pvp talent that literally only exists so you have a way to self remove poly without using your trinket. But you need to press it like half a second before poly lands, so if you cast a different spell a moment after they start the poly cast, you won’t be able to hit premonition in time. They said they wanted to keep reactionary defensive buttons off the GCD, so it’s stupid that they missed this one

  • BahamutZEROBahamutZERO Registered User regular

So there was a dev live stream earlier today. Wowhead has a write up here.

Guess what, if you thought that maybe azerite traits should save based on what spec you're in or that they shouldn't cost money to reforge than you are dumb and also bad at game design. There is a line where he literally says that they want to reward somebody who only plays one spec verses somebody who swaps specs often.

I said this in the WoW thread, but their argument of 'people end up swapping out items to maximize stats all the time when they change specs, and we didn't want azerite to be any different' is at least consistent, if not frustrating.
