My poor person heart can’t handle this

My coworker and I did and I was marked as being super boring.

Basically paying off all the debts I have (mortgage, student loans, and such) and that is about. Oh and a new car like a mazda 3.

That would be like .3% of the money, if that

    Rest goes into investments/blind trust.

I keep working. And basically keep my life rather the same. I would travel first class though.

Anything else is dumb and how you end up broke 5 years down the line.

Pay off your debts, buy some property, set a bit aside for binge spending at the start for random shit you've always wanted, invest the rest safely and live off the returns for the rest of your life, never having to do anything you don't want to do.

Everyone says this but nobody would actually do it

Buy a house, furnish it modestly, hire cleaners and groundskeepers, continue to not work, pay off mortgages in my immediate family, set my nephew up for life, buy a couple hospital wings, travel, invest

I owe a couple hospitals some otherwise unpayable debts <3

I’m not saying everyone would buy a 747 and a yacht and a pro sports team. I believe some people have financial discipline. I just think that there would be more change than like, pay my debt and maybe get a new gaming computer. The lump sum after tax is like 600m right now? Even if you say I’m taking 5/6 of it, fully half a billion dollars, and doing charity and trusts for friends and family and investing some of it more aggressively in the market. Just take the remaining sixth, one hundred million dollars, and put it in the absolute most conservative vehicle like US treasury bonds. Even with inflation that’s well over a million dollars a year forever, even if you lose absolutely everything else.

If you all had your salary multiply by ten or twenty or thirty, nothing would change?

Just don’t think that’s the result of honest introspection, no offense

Many change their life but don't blow it all down a hole either. And there are folks who just want it hidden and not wanting to be extravagant. We very much hear about the ones that fuck up.

I think about it, I am not sure I want for things. I also understand I am a weirdo. I understand I have historically lived like a monk just out of my natural want.

I don't know. I didn't buy a ticket, the odds are laughable. But even I did win I think my grandest plan was to start a non-profit to work on health issues in areas of the US that need help if they want it.

I don't like cars. My computer is nice. I like my condo. I like my work. I have good friends. I guess I won't be as obsessive at saving but even when I haven't had to be I just have a really built in need not to spend more than I have or feel like I should. I literally have panic attacks paying $200 for things I need.

My income in the last 4 years has tripled.

My monthly bills are more because I bought a condo and I wanted to live alone. Then I got a dog when I new I could afford it and save the same amount.

I am kind of my limit. I am eyeing a new car to replace my 10 year old car next year and literally planning the finances out months in advance when in reality I could afford it without problem.

    Some people actually lived that.

And some of us have some programming from parents and culture that makes us kind of obsessive like we are from the Great Depression or something.

I'd buy at least 3 fabulous apartments, 1-2 in the US and 1-2 in europe, obviously quit my job, honestly not super sure what else, but the apartments are the big thing. Mayyybe one of them could be a small house instead but I find the concept of too many rooms/too much square footage a bit intimidating/hard to keep up with/lonely.

No one is alleging you’d blow it all.

I think I’ll just agree to disagree on this one. I certainly recognize that some people would very minimally change their lives, though the number of people who claim it of themselves seems similar to the people who claim they’re one of the only safe drivers on the road. Some people are correct but knowing who is beyond me, I guess.

If I won the lotto I would purchase a plot of land in this city, build a sensibly sized house (1200 sw ft foundation) made out of top tier materials and a killer basement (recording studio, home theater, server room, extra living room).

Then I'd buy like 150 acres of land nobody wants in New Mexico and populate a garage with a crapload of ATV's and other off-road items and use it for fuuuuuuun.
