Its TMZ as a source so take it with a grain of salt but they're reporting the CNN package was addressed to former-CIA head John Brennan

CNN reporting the pipe bomb sent to its office was targeted at John Brennan.

    Yahoo legal reporter.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz also a target.

How ironic that the side accusing liberals as being violent terrorists are, themselves, escalating into violent terrorism.

It's almost like they were full of shit and projecting their desires onto their opposition.

Trump downplaying this or blaming it on Democrats is pretty much a given, but what are the odds he says something offensively insensitive about it at one of his rallies?

Well that and the implication that they should all be jailed. If Hillary/Beto/whomever SHOULD be jailed but they aren't because they're too powerful and connected you're just asking your crazy fans to try and take the law into their own hands.

Sorry, needed to make a joke. This story has really shaken me this morning. I just... I don't know, I suppose something like this was almost an inevitability with Trump being Trump and getting away with it as POTUS. Just... fuck.

Well, James Hodgkinson was pretty fucking bad, although it feels like they haven't milked that nearly as much as they could since as a mass shooting it obviously invites follow up questions they don't like.

But Schumer's statements act as a barometer for where the greater party stance lies, which reduces the credibility of statements made by the more liberal Democrats. It's a clear display that Schumer doesn't have their backs.

I just want to point out we are more focused on circular shooting our own instead of the fact that multiple Democratic politicians and at least one news agency have been targeted with a terrorist attack. And that alone should make you sit down think about what is more important and should be the focus and messaging. Instead of worrying about a tweet by Schummer instead maybe focus on the fact violence has been attempted which is probably inspired by an entire group of politicians who are currently in the majority and that we should be asking about their rhetoric instead of focusing on a stupid tweet by a single senator that will probably be retracted or changed in a few hours anyway.

I will say otherwise and a lot of that is due to the fact that Senator's offices job are to put out the most inoffensive thing possible but make a response. And this as someone who does interact with them regularly as part of my job.

As more information comes in, there will probably be a press conference. An official statement. And a general condemnation of all violence towards politicians and those express free speech and so on.

Well for starters it will make people that are Not-Republican like him more. Who is he trying to pander to here, Republicans who aren't going to vote for him because he's a Democrat?

Vandalism is vandalism. A bomb is a fucking attempt on lives. There's a wide-gulf of difference and Schumer is a fucking idiot.

Like it's a tweet that will appeal to theoretical independents and everyone in this thread (or forum basically) are going to be voting D regardless of what he would tweet.

Ain't nobody going to be swayed by "Republicans caused this attack on my fellow Democrats with their harsh rhetoric" and it's just going to allow low information voters/citizens to throw up their hands and say "Oh man, Democrats say Republicans are trying to kill them, Republicans say Democrats should be in jail, who knows?" At least trying to rise above gives a stark contrast between the "They're all criminals" party and "We should all together to condemn acts by both sides."

And if both sides DID explicitly condemn this shit instead of vaguely asking 2nd amendment people to take care of their problems, then maybe this shit wouldn't happen!

Jesus christ schumer, prominent individuals within your party were targetted for assassination in what was clearly a planned attack. This is not the time to fucking play the "both sides are the same" card.

That Shumer statement seems perfectly legit to me, and also a wonderfully subtle juxtaposition.

I mean, he puts office vandalized and bomb threat in the same image. It's a great way to highlight and pre-empt the bs.

I mean, he could have put this next to the bombs and been legit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Congressional_baseball_shooting
