The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I came back partly because I wanted to pressure a bunch of you into phonebanking with me, but I see that using the forums for campaign organizing is against the rules (reasonably, since that could get awfully annoying).
So instead I’m just going to post sexy stories about how much fun phonebanking is and how much more attractive people who phonebank are and how phonebanking is missing from everyone’s lives.

How about I counter your proposal with the fact I am canvassing Sunday. And that even sexier people canvas.

I worked on a political survey line once. It was mostly alternating between getting yelled at by middle aged white guys and talking to old ladies who I was the only one they had talked to in the last month because everyone they know is dead.
Sexy!
and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
but they're listening to every word I say

Look I’m starting soft, knocking on people’s doors is something I’m working up to.
Anyway, I know canvassing is more effective than phonebanking, but I’m a lot more worried about the districts I don’t live in at the moment. Wednesday I got invited to a Beto phonebank but I’m wondering if Texas is worth my time either. Trying to min-max here.
Speaking local, though, what are your thoughts on Chicago mayor? I like Amara.
When this first happened I thought your wife had no sense of the common civic duty and understanding that is so integral to our continuation as a social species, and I was wroth
but now upon further reflection I see now the charm of the action; the careless, almost childlike impulsivity and selfishness

what's phonebanking? I assume it's not banking from your phone.
Campaigns keep lists of people who they think are unlikely voters but would vote for them if they could actually be convinced to vote. A lot of orgs have websites where they’ll give you a script and you just have to call people to try to convince them to go out and do it, help them schedule when/how they’ll vote, etc.

OMG GIRL GO SPEND YOUR SEPHORA MONEY AND GET PRETTY
When I worked at Walgreens I just always used "miss" when talking to women. Younger ladies ignored me, but most of the older ladies got a kick out of it.

like imagine robocalling but the callers are real people
I got college credit to do it. And the line I was on was just a survey.
People would just scream at me. The lonely old ladies that didnt want you to hang up were a relief.
That’s a bit different since you’re not calling likely Democrats. Usually in phonebanking you’re supposed to be calling people who are ideally at least a little sympathetic to your cause.
