Reading back through this thread has helped me cope with the ridiculous tooth pain I can't get rid of and the fact I've got a massive dentist bill coming up.
Thank you everyone!

Hey @Raijin Quickfoot you did a great service in organizing this whole thing.
I hope that next year I can be both a Satan and a Saint.

It's taken longer than I wanted, but my work has finally begun. Just in time for Three Kings Day (note: not all items will arrive in time for Three Kings Day)!

! ! ! ! !
I got a package from a mysterious John! It was a deck-builders toolkit! I am another step on the way to showing up at Friday Night Magic and building a Thief of Sanity deck!
Thank you so much, mysterious man named John. I am one step closer to showing up at this week's FNM and throwing down like a BAWSS

wow I'm a little floored by all this. it's wonderful, and has thoroughly brightened my mood today after an incredibly shitty past few weeks.
Thanks so so much to my Saint (who I sent a PM too as well since I dunno if they want to remain anonymous or not!)
Just after opening the package
The contents of the wrapped gifts! It's two books and a dual-action airbrush!!
and the obligatory photo of what happened when Daeg tried out the new cat toy. He's now asleep cuddled up to it.

Good news and bad news
Good news is that I got some deck protectors from John! The are cool looking Max Diamond protectors.
Bad news: I need to get some dental work and I had been waiting until the start of the year to do it to have access to more funds for coverage. Well, I found out today that it was canceled/not renewed on November 31st. In other words, because my identity got stolen and was using my old personal information, I don’t currently have dental insurance and have to pay out of pocket. And have to being operative here, I have waited long enough.
Oh and some ’good news’! I got some provisionary papers from my bank that say which of the charges I disputed and put that money back into my account. Huzza

Oh man, my kitties had one of those wand & ribbon toys
I’d twirl it in their face like a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon and they’d lose their everloving minds
Did you get anything delivered? I know one got sent back to Amazon for some reason but I never heard about the other one.
I'm going to PM you

So the original package had a bit of an explanation, which I'll reproduce here.
The two books are the first in their respective series, which I highly recommend.
Di Renjie was a historical person, and the van Gulik books expand on his real (though almost certainly exaggerated) exploits as a district magistrate in Tang dynasty China. The character Judge Dee is fastidious, a strict Confucian, and comically obsessed with a good cup of tea. He's also an excellent investigator and a fair judge according to the laws of China in his day. Owing to the fact the books are written by a Dutch man around the 1940's-60's, there's a heavy dose of classism and some degree of sexism present in the novels. Still fun reads, and solid mysteries.
The SPQR series is set in Rome during the late Roman Republic and follows a Senator and several of his slaves and friends as they solve crimes and sometimes interact with larger political rumblings.
Purity Ring is one of my favorite recent bands, in a genre I like to call Electropop Nonsense. It's noisy, the beats and synths dominate, and just on the edge of your hearing is the vocalist's ethereal voice singing vaguely body horror lyrics. It's great.
The National is far more accessible and solidly in the indie rock category. Singer Matt Berninger famously is not classically trained and as a result often lends a slightly off-beat delivery of his lyrics. It shouldn't work, but it does. The rest of the band is formed by two pairs of twin brothers!
And Batman Beyond is Batman Beyond.

One last mission of anyone is interested!
My kids are doing a glow run to raise money for their school.
It's TOMORROW and they have $0 in pledges.
My wife and I are obviously going to pledge but if anyone wants to be awesome and help them out I would love you forever!

I thought about putting some encouraging words in there but my hatred of running laps kept flowing out. So I settled for silent encouragement.
EDIT:
I’m also stupid and put the wrong selection the first time so I had to submit two separate ones. Just pretend one is me and the other one is future me traveling back in time to pledge as present me.

Thank you everyone!
I hope that next year I can be both a Satan and a Saint.
It's really my pleasure. Hopefully I'll have some money to spend on people next year as well as organizing.
Thanks Goose!!
There is also a cool Amazon branded ruled journal type notebook! It's really cool!
The John is inside the goose?

He's gonna give it to me tomorrow.

It's definitely not a box of poisonous snakes.
It was a box of venomous snakes a 1TB hard drive! Finally, some storage space!
Thanks, John!
I will investigate after I get back from class and report back!
and boy what a card it is
