I have almost no knowledge or deep connection to Samus, which I think puts me in the layman's perspective regarding how one perceives Samus?
And I recognize she has been overly sexualized over the years.
But I have never thought her as someone who let fear into her heart.
Samus shows up and she clears house, son. She's a badass who doesn't take your bullshit.
At least, that has always been my read of her.
This is the read of Samus that game designers outside of Nintendo tend to bring to the character
If you play the Metroid Prime games, or Samus Returns on the 3DS, that's very much the Samus you will get
Also she does have a softer side, but it's not one of emotional compromise, but of compassion, as seen in her canonical love of animals (dachora, etecoons, Pikachu)
I think you could argue that the first non-murder characterization she gets is opting not to kill the Metroid hatchling, because who would kill baby animals that aren't immediately aggressive really

It really feels like a case where Sakamoto needs some sort of controlling influence. In the early days, it was Yokoi and really the tech itself. With Prime, Sakamoto was distant on the project. Fusion, "dread," and that lineage were directly controlled by Sakamoto -- as was Other M.
Honestly? I really hope they don't have Sakamoto involved with 4 beyond a Producer credit. Given that Other M has been pretty much panned (which is VERY rare for a Nintendo game), and Federation Force was savaged on announcement, Nintendo has to know that Metroid's reputation is kind of crappy right now.
Nintendo games getting panned is not really that rare!
The wii U had a couple really atrocious first party games (Kirby, star fox zero)
The switch hasn't really yet but there haven't been that many games for it, though Arms didn't exactly light the critical world on fire
I'd completely and utterly forgot about StarFox Zero. Nevermind me, carry on!

It's understandable, that game basically fell off a cliff, conversationally-speaking

Reminder that the Western canon had Samus as six fucking three and one hundred ninety eight pounds.
She was a muscle beast.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
They never did much for more and Warioware is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises and, IMO, a way more interesting direction for Wario than "greedy fat Mario" so personally I am perfectly fine with them dying so Warioware may live

There's absolutely no reason that would have to happen though. I don't care for WarioWare at all but I'm not clamoring for them to cancel it, just make new Wario platformers also.

Nintendo's the one developer where I most commonly feel the concrete reality of their limited developer resources, because there are always things I'd like them to make that aren't getting made because the relevant teams are making something else
Also they hate redundancy so much it pushes into deeply inconvenient territory (the Paper Mario Problem)

I wish, so badly, that they'd either remake F-Zero GX/AX in HD, or ideally they'd revisit it and make a next-next-next gen F-Zero...
What would the hook be, though? You think "we haven't had one in 15 actual years, wow, look at the calendar" is a good enough reason to have more F-Zero??? Get out of my office

Wait, why? You can't play a modern F-Zero in any way right now. By a lot of metrics there is no modern F-Zero. MK8 doesn't actually scratch the F-Zero itch, it's aesthetically removed and mechanically distinct!

Hell, the whole extreme racer genre seems to have died except for Fast RMX, who were obviously trying to audition to make an F-zero game but it just doesn't feel right. I just want some futuristic arcadey racer action that I can watch speedrunners break six ways from sunday, okay?

that's very much the popular perception of her
turns out the guy who created her just thinks of her as his soft delicate anime wife
Well fuck that guy. Samus should go beat him up.
He also made Warioware and is why classic wario games sort of vanished
Well this part I have no problem with
The classic Wario games are good and it's bad we don't get them anymore
the last one in that style was what, wario land shake it for wii? that game kicked ass and its only crime was being too short, but im sure all the hand drawn assets was a strain on development
but I also love wario ware too
gimme a new wario land game for switch

i was really bummed out when they put the f-zero stuff in mario kart because they acknowledged it without giving me even remotely what I wanted
except I guess the sax-heavy big blue remix, that was pretty good

This past Saturday I attended a holiday party with friends and around 2 a.m. we played some Mario Kart: Double Dash.
Why didn't any of the unique aspects of that game carry over to the rest of the series?
It's my favorite in the franchise and I honestly think every game afterward has been a step down in quality.

I have yet to play a mario kart game I didn't like
It does astound me that double dash's coop mechanics haven't come back though

Was Double Dash before or after Mario Kart Advance? Because I dumped a LOT of time into that game back in my first stint in college, and then the cart disappeared on me somewhere along the line.

She was a muscle beast.
Arms sold like 2 million copies while slotted between Mario kart and Splatoon. I think it did pretty well
She does not bathe and stinks like shit, but she will go outside when it rains for hygeine
She's really into oviposition porn
She likes squidpunk music
She lives on her ship away from society and only uses money for ship and suit parts
She hunts and gathers for food
She is a furry and actively posts on furry chats
Also she's trans
All of them
Sorry what

We could always have both?

Online.
Wait... this is Nintendo, shit.
but Trackmania?
I dont think it is to be honest.
Thousands of space hover cars backing up from the starting line and honking wildly
Sorry, I never owned a 64DD when they did that.
I made something up because I wanted to be part of the group
I'm sorry =(
