Whenever ~ attacks, untap another target attacking creature you control. At end of combat, if both ~ and that creature are on the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on ~ and that creature.

The ending of the latest LSV cube video on CFB is just tremendous advertising for MODO. He ults Karn and instead of restarting the game, it just goes into an infinite loop of the game so far.

At least that was on purpose. And a reflection of the game rules.

It was a bit weirder than that. MODO looped it for a while, then crashed, restarted the game, played the game in fast-forward to the triple ORing loop, played the loop again, disconnected again, and eventually sent the players to a new game:
Hey, Magic thread. I'm trying to brew a Gruul deck for War standard. I think I got it to where I want but the last spot is giving me some trouble.
It's basically the warriors deck with a different top end.
4 Pelt Collector
4 Growth Chamber Guardian
4 Goblin Chainwhirler
4 Gruul Spellbreaker
4
4 Ilharg, The Raze Boar
I don't know what to put in that empty spot. I feel like it should be a cmc 4 creature but I can see the case for other cmcs as well. I don't think it should be Rekindling Phoenix on account of how many exile removal spells are in standard right now. Nullhide Ferox is a choice but I keep going back and forth on whether or not to put it in. I'm unsure of the new Neheb, I have no idea if this is the deck for him. Neheb's a warrior but I don't think this deck uses his ability.

I'm not sure I buy that there are too many exile removal spells in Standard for Rekindling Phoenix to be good. It's still a 4/3 flier that bashes through most of the other fliers in the format and dies to limited removal in a deck built around dropping cards that die to limited removal. Your big-dudes deck wants reach and Phoenix is reach.
maybe domri, chaos bringer?
my other thoughts would be dire fleet daredevil or thorn lieutenant. daredevil has the nice ETB for ilharg and thorn lieutenant is a good two that be pumped for later

I can only speak from my own experience but every time I’ve played it, my opponent has killed it either immediately or 1 turn later through Vraska’s Contempt, Lava Coil, Seal Away. Sometimes it got there but it’s mostly been a bust for me.

Domri’s been ok. Not bad, but not great either. I’ll look at Daredevil and Lieutenant though. Thanks for reminding me.
an excess of exile removal occurs because cards like phoenix pressure opponents to have those cards
you're basically committing the fallacy of going "well why would i play this creature when it dies to removal" and the answer is that pressuring them to have the right removal at the right time is still important, even if they wind up having the right removal at the right time
yeah a creature that coasts to victory when they DON'T have it or had to use it already due to being in a deck containing entirely threats means you still play it
We're not trying to make you feel dumb or anything, it's good that you asked because this is something everyone needs to learn at one point or another in their magic career. It's not an intuitive thing and there's no shame in not knowing that

One of things that make phoenixes so hard to deal with is that they have counterspell evasion and multiple can hit the board very cheaply, so even if you do have AN exile spell in hand you probably don’t have 3.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Why are you playing Ilharg if your creatures top out at Ilharg? I get he's a 5 mana 6/6 trample, but his ability is a big mana cheat, you should want to take advantage of it to some degree. I was also looking to make, maybe, an RG midrange deck for standard, but I was going to be playing Rhythm and focus more on 3-5 drops; Spellbreaker, Jadelight Ranger, Rhonas, Neheb, Ilharg, Ooze (probably just 1) and topping out at a Carnage Tyrant or two.
I don't think a 2 card combo is cutesy magical christmasland when both the cards are good enough to see play on their own, though. And if you use Neheb or Vivien or something for consistency, it's not even magical christmasland so much as just inevitability.
i think entertaining a scenario where you combo 2 five drops alongside an enchantment that has already proven to be not good enough for maindeck standard play is poopy garbage
that said probably play rhythm or cindervines in your boards yall, if control comes back a lot
am I the only one who finds the way rhythm works with creatures that already have riot to be counter-intuitive? i assume it was a decision to make rhythm not bad but idk cards having riot riot not what i expected

A card having multiple instances of the same keyword stacking is something that has existed for awhile.

yes but you like weird cutsey magical christmasland standard things
in terms of constructed quality the thing that gets you immediate, very threatening value every time is A++
and rhonas is even more awkward for them to try to remove because if he gets tucked into the deck he gets to do his ETB again
Man you stage suck people at locals, what you doing out here sideyeing people for not playing optimally.
(This is an attempt at using humor to kindly say "take it a little easier on people who just want to make a card work, it's really not helpful to tell them not to try especially in a setting like anonymous online ladder play.")

The part where it plays the game back at hyper speed just to shut down again in futility is pretty funny.
In 40-60 years the Ravnican Baby Boom is going to cause a lot of political problems.
