I love unnecessarily high-tech-looking mundane objects like that hair tie

The horn implies a red. They are the rowdy ones, so it makes sense to have one on a muscle. I can't really picture an ebon devil seeking such mundane employment.

Yeah, that was my assumption. Today's page boils down to "lucky hit". Reds are the lowest rung of the totem pole iirc? Now, a crafty blue or something could be using that to mislead... but the tone of this bit has "Allison training with cheats in her back pocket" so far.

We are still at the "set expectations" section of this arc so I anticipate no real trouble for Alison.

It's kinda weird that Vash traded in an angel - a near-noumenal representation of an eternity of combat training honed into a sharp point - for a demon. What was the introduction to an angel's fighting prowess? "The only thing that can beat an angel is another angel"?

Also, how the hell does Allison not know what Vash's whole operation is? Allison first runs into White Chain as they're confronting Vash about his operations!

and maybe hiring angels is a dangerous thing to do at this point

Who says demons have a set power level that goes up per rank? Maybe the reds are pure combat but dumb, and the further up they get the more ambition they possess at the cost of strength. Reds may not be as potentially dangerous, but maybe they’re unstoppable brutes instead.

The introduction to the devil hierarchy made it pretty clear that devils get more power and strength as they climb the ladder to Ebon.

fwiw blue to gold devils in the k6bd ttrpg are pretty much in the same power ranking, their stats and abilities are just different

What I mean is, if she is training with White Chain, and is apparently sent on this mission to "take in" Vash... wouldn't White Chain tell her what was going on? Like, even the bare minimum of what the guild she's looking for actually does? It's not like Allison randomly just stumbled into this bar and then just randomly started punching people and then randomly demanded to see whoever the boss was; she specifically asked where the guild base was because she specifically was looking for Vash, who the comic specifically previously established that White Chain knew all about, down to his glass smuggling and pleasure guild overseeing and etc. Logically, story-wise it seems almost certain that WC at some point filled in Allison about... any of that, particularly considering that Alli seems to know exactly who Vash is immediately despite having absolutely no way or care of differentiating Servants back when they first briefly met. Even if for some reason WC didn't fill her in on her damn mission, she should still know what pleasure guilds and general criminals in throne do: she's been shown to have taken a giant jump in worldliness over the past year, as exampled by how she seems to know everyone in the lower slums a la like 10 pages ago.

Therefore she (1) has trained with someone who knows everything about Vash, (2) knows who Vash is by sight, (3) knows what his guild is - their turf, their home base, and their general racketeering scheme - and (4) knows he needs to be taken in, but she somehow doesn't know what his operation is - that is to say, why he's being taken in? Again, this is all evidenced in earlier pages in this very chapter as well as in the comic overall. That's just a writing goof plain and simple unless there is something ridiculous we haven't yet been filled in on. It all just smells like a bit of a oopsie daisy in the story and characterization, unless White Chain just told Allison to "take in Vash" with absolutely no explanation as some kind of test. It's really not a big deal, but I mean, surely you can see why I am a bit confused about pretty much everything in this post-jump story arc.

Well its been a year of white chain not working her beat so it seems pretty reasonable for Team Allison to not have perfect information about this guy anymore

The angel thing was probably an assumption cause if you could get one why not get another since angels kick ass

What I meant re: angels was that why is Vash saying that she's foolish to believe he still traffics in angels? Angels, as the comic has previously stated, are generally believed to only be beaten by other angels; they are generally speaking the ultimate bodyguards. I'm not saying anything about Allison's assumption because it's a perfectly understandable mistake to believe Delicious is still alive (although, of course, White Chain saw them die / crystallize for an eternal aeon. Yet another thing WC seems to not update Allison on...) or that Vash has gotten another replacement. So... why does Vash sneer at the idea?

So either something drastic has happened regarding the social status of angels, or that saying is no longer held to be true. I think it's the former because the latter was built up repeatedly over the first two or three books. Mebbe they all became Thorn Knights because 2 Michael openly showed his colors at some point over the time jump? Or, more innocuously, is Vash just burned from being disappointed by Delicious?

Oooh I see what you're saying

Yeah its hard to tell right now if thats gonna be a plot point or if Vash is just a petty dork who assumes if angels failed him then its cause angels suck
