The point was really just that, yes, we were losing our bottom lane
but they were losing their top lane just as hard

We had a good thing going. We had probably the best thing going, given the circumstance.
    But, I mean, TEAMFIGHT THO

Braxis is also a bad map that was never seriously played in pro's. Most players can't imagine any other way to win that map then getting kills, and getting the objective and running it down. I'm sure most the players in that game have never seen a 2-3 split run long enough that it forces top so far back to force some kind of counter play without bottom getting frustrated with slowly giving and just suiciding

As has been suggested here before, I do think they could do a lot with the UI for experience to help guide players toward merc camps and lane soaking.

I mean, short of having shit pop up on your screen like Deadly Boss Mods warnings in WoW Raids, like

"SIEGE CAMP AVAILABLE IN 30 SECONDS" with that iconic WoW sound cue

I just don't know what would do the trick.

If literally increasing the XP gained by a hundred percent wasn't enough, what would be?

It's not about the actual numbers, though, is it? I think it's more about making the activity appealing to players.

Give that "on fire" effect based on XP earned, not takedowns. Light up the XP bar for every minion soaked. Animate the XP numbers flying up to your team's bar. Play a satisfying sound like quest progress has. Paint the models of the mercs you capture with your character's color scheme. Let the mercs ride small, non-speed-increasing copies of your mount until they get into combat. Let the mercs use your spray when they kill a wave. Play your character's taunt or voice line globally when you steal a camp. Automatically ping and highlight the map when a camp spawns. Show XP soaked in the stats panel. Hell, replace the entire stats panel with just a giant XP graph, showing each player's contribution (including XP given to the other team by dying) over the match.

These are just a few options. The current implementation of XP and merc feedback is almost the worst thing they could do, if they want people to be playing HotS in the "right" way. It's barely visible to the team, and not very satisfying to see/hear. Soaking a lane is never going to be super interesting, but it could certainly *feel* less bland.

Those would all help a ton, qm is a problem since there isn't a large consequence to losing, you don't get quest progress, big deal.

It's the problem battlegrounds solved that they are trying to tip toe around. For a win to be satisfying, someone has to lose. All other players need to know that win came from you crushing all those mercs and the other team not getting a chance to get theirs

    You’re on a merc streak!

    Whoa three waves soaks! Amazing!

You didn’t die to a pointless 1v5! You’re on fire!

Then just add the NBA Jam announcer and you can PUT THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN FROM ALL THE WAY DOWTOWN

there's no magic anything you can do that's suddenly gonna make the playerbase learn all this shit because they're just bad and don't care. nothing. you could have a super indepth mandatory tutorial on this shit and it wouldn't make a difference.

Yeah, if that were one of my games and I were playing Fenix (or the Ducks role), the bottom 3 would eventually play too recklessly and start feeding and then just bitch about the 3v4 and why aren't we coming to help them.

It'd be a no-win for Fenix either way in that case.

So fun fact: Almost every Hero in the game (outside of like, Supports and most Tanks) can at least do Giants now. The attacks are dodgeable so all you have to do is stutterstep around them.

Bruiser camp is a different story, but.

I'm having trouble finding a specific emoji. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because I swear that I saw someone use it in a match, but I can't find it in the store anywhere. It was an animated emoji with a depiction of Orphea headpatting her little chaos pet. Has anyone else seen it?

Ah, damn, that's too bad. I couldn't remember where I got the chomp pack. I assumed it was just from a chest.

For future reference, any time they tie a cool promotion to Twitch, keep in mind you don't actually have to watch it. You can just pick a HotS stream, fire it up before bed, then leave it on with the sound off and collect whatever goodies overnight.

Can you explain your change of heart a little more? Like how did you build/play it with this talent? You've 180'd from "gotta save that E for escape or you'll get blowed up" to (implied) "E is a DPS tool go go go!"

Edit: Also, where are you seeing it with a higher win rate than the other two? The pick rate is significantly higher, but the win rates of the level 7s all seem to be about the same...

Edit: Also, where are you seeing it with a higher win rate than the other two? The pick rate is significantly higher, but the win rates of the level 7s all seem to be about the same...

my change of heart was going through the thought process of "i cannot walk up to AA this enemy team at fucking all, i cannot pick lost soul, I GUESS i will try festering wounds cause if i'm gonna lose this game i may as well see what all the hubbub is about" and then immediately getting value from it, getting incredibly safe stacking (whereas before i had almost no stacking and i'd die if i tried to actually walk up to stack), and just realizing how utterly safe and good it was in practice. was able to lean on the tyrael and whitemane pretty hard so i was never in fear of dying from not having E. just always play ultra safe when E off CD.

my build for that game in particular was as follows: https://www.heroesfire.com/hots/talent-calculator/sylvanas#l2av

unfurling shadows, possession, festering wounds, wailing arrow, remorseless (hey i get to AA now!), life drain, deafening blast (really really needed to lock down and punish the malg/malth/whoever else got caught in it)

normally 13/16 are toss-ups depending on comps. cold embrace is still rock fucking solid, evasive fire/will of the forsaken are both excellent alternatives to life drain (but life drain would keep me sustained through malthael/nazeebo damage!), 20 is literally whatever you need and if you need nothing in particular just grab withering fire. 10 can be mind control if that'll prove better than wailing (good follow-up/insta-delete rather than needing to turn a teamfight)

for playstyle i'd walk up toss out W hit Q hit E then just haaaaang the fuck back. you kinda play her like a mage for the most part. auto if possible but don't if it'll get you killed. E has a gigantic fucking cast range to it so it's actually super fucking safe. you just play much further back than you normally do and immediately walk off after casting that E.

as far as "where are you seeing the higher winrate", QM bruh :p

It's pretty much entirely dependent on its extreme synergy with stacking up the unfurling shadows quest. If it weren't for that quest, then I think dibby's original assessment would be spot on.

It's pretty much entirely dependent on its extreme synergy with stacking up the unfurling shadows quest. If it weren't for that quest, then I think dibby's original assessment would be spot on.

yeah, this is what i was not factoring in when making the original assessment

i noticed RIGHT AWAY how goddamn easy it was to get stacks, and it's also a force multiplier for stacking (hitting multiple people and spreading it will hike up the stack gain significantly)

I like bouncing the dagger DOT off of forts when I can't safely get the the opponents themselves. The banshee range is so huge that I can cast that through a fort at people hiding behind it, and then splash the dagger dot onto them via the very same fort that they're hiding behind.
