I had originally planned on seeing Opeth, but I had an exhausting week and thought I wouldn't have the energy for it on Sunday. And then on Sunday I had a nasty headache, so it's good that I didn't buy tickets. I'll catch them next time, hopefully.
March 27 can’t get here soon enough. This is a great track, as is Very Noise.

The biggest names in nu-metal, right there. (I've heard of the top two.)
Also, nu-metal is old enough to have a revival. Then again, *counts on fingers* nu-metal is older now than Black Sabbath's debut album was when nu-metal first became A Thing.

Speaking of nu-metal, Korn is going on tour with Faith No More this year. I'm tempted to go just to see FNM. Special bonus if Faith No More goes on first, because then we can leave the venue early. The last time I saw Korn was in 1995 in a small club, and I really liked them! I got tired of them after the first two albums, though, and don't have much of an interest in seeing them live again.
Melodic Black Metal that is pretty darn good if you're into that sort of thing. I will probably preorder it after another listen of the songs that have been posted.

Need to spend more time with both those but have gone through them in the last week. I remember mostly enjoying them.
I saw Insect ark last night, which was a darker, chillier way to kick off 2020. Grabbed the new album on the strength of the singles and that performance. Just good, atmospheric psychedelic doom.
Caught Opeth last night in Nashville. Really good spread of songs. Dignity, Leper Affinity, Heart in Hand, Moon Above Sun Below, The Lotus Eater, Sorceress, All Things Will Pass, Harlequin Forest, Nepenthe, and one or two others.

Would the addition of a band to a tshirt sellers roster indicate that they might be working on new material?
Because if that’s what it means, Genghis Tron might be working on new stuff. They’ve got new shirts up in Shirt Killer.

I think Entombed A.D. just doesn't get the pull of the original Entombed because a lot of the fanbase is divided since it's not the full band from the classics and they are reluctant to support L-G Petrov's new stuff.
I personally think Entombed A.D. is awesome though, their first two albums the best stuff done in that name since Morningstar.
They can play pretty much all the Entombed material live, and some of their sets they do a majority of older Entombed material with a few of their own new originals thrown in. Its almost a shame because they've got some real killer new songs but sometimes you've gotta play to the crowd.
The might Beneath the Massacre have broken their 8 year album based fast with Fearmonger.
Just as much technical shredhilation (yes, that is a portmanteau of shred and annihilation) as you'd expect, but there's definitely a bit more groove and direction to the new songs.
Saw them live the other week and I can safely say that they smash it live. Also briefly spoke to the guitarist on the merch stand who said he was worried everyone would have forgotten about them. Which is totally adorable, as I'm not sure quite how anyone could forget this band.

I listened to a good chunk of the Night Flight Orchestra album while on the treadmill a while ago. Probably not the best way to experience it for the first time, but I enjoyed it. I think their third album is still my favorite so far though.
If you like your blackgaze very urban and Romantic, the latest Violet Cold album might do for you. Prolific one-man act from Azerbaijan that twists a lot of styles into his sound to create a constant emotional flood.

The slickness of the production combined with the distance/cold hasn’t grabbed me, even tho the song is pretty good

So Eternal Champion have switched to what seems to me like dungeon synth for their latest release, a couple of tracks seemingly inspired by Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun series. Said series happens to be my least-favorite critically acclaimed fantasy I've ever read any of, and my best friend and I have passed a collection of the first couple books around our friend group as a white elephant gift off and on for quite a while now.
It's appropriately austere given the inspiration and fits right in on my end given my recent policy of using synth as the soundtrack for space 4X games like Stellaris and Endless Space.
I kind of dig that new Eternal Champion although I hope it's a one-off, like Vanik did on their little Halloween EP which was all horror ambient instead of speed metal.
Really interesting combination of progressive with elements of sludge and death mixed in
But also, I bought tickets to the Spectral Voice show for 4/16 but, like a fucking idiot, did not see that it was actually in Asbury Park instead of Saint Vitus. There is no way I'll be able to get there from the city. If anyone here could use a ticket hit me and up and I'll give the PA Hesher discount.

This album is really really good. It's sludgy metal but surprisingly deep, and there's a lot of variety on this album.

Edit: Fair warning, I've not watched this video at all since I've been listening on Ze Spots, so I don't know if it's NSFW or whatevs.
