76 Updated 22 is planned for the 15th. huzzah!

Been anxious to give Daily Ops a try. The idea of a giant assault from a ton of enemies holds a lot of appeal.

Kind of like Radiation Rumble but actually worth doing/probably not as much of a pain in the ass.

I am never, ever doing that again. It was way more time consuming than enjoyable.
    For now, Dobby is free.

Might finish up the settlers rep, as I'm about a day away from Ally, and cash in some of the T-Notes from Meat Week for the last Secret Service limb I need, but, seriously. Going to go play something else for a while. That burned me out.

Yeah, I actually haven't logged back in since finishing the run last week.

Neither have I. I mean, my storage drive blew and took my install with it, which probably helped that way. But I haven't wanted to, anyhow.
It feels like scheduling the second of these right after the first might be a...brave move.

I think a lot of people had to take a break after finishing their SCORE. I've logged on about every other night, and mostly just to do my Raider rep...half a bar to finish and get my ammo machine.

But I'm always the optimist, and this sounds good to me:
Additionally, we’re implementing some new Dailies and Weeklies, like Daily Ops themed Challenges, to offer you even more day-to-day variety as you progress through the Season. We’ve also been reading feedback from players who don’t have quite as much time to play each day as they would like. As a result, we’re planning to add some more Weeklies to the Challenge lineup so that players have more flexibility to rank up on their own schedules. Finally, Double S.C.O.R.E. events are also going to make a comeback. There will be several Double S.C.O.R.E. events throughout the Season, and each will offer you the ability to rake in twice as much S.C.O.R.E. from your Daily Challenges for a short time.

I hope that means by just playing the game regularly, you'll feel like you can get through it without completely disrupting the things you really want to do. Hint: Planting 10 corn is NOT what I want to spend my time doing.

I've also haven't played on test, but the folks on the Reddit Discord (who are usually pretty negative) have been rather positive about the OPs. The rewards seem worth the time, and it does encourage people to group up to get the best tier of rewards, which will be nice. I have a few friends still playing, and one of the unintended downsides of the public groups is that we really didn't have to coordinate playing together.

So anyway, hooray for new content!

So I said I wasn't doing this season, yet here I am doing dailies. *sigh*

Had this drop. Not sure if it's a good replacement for Final Word. The missing 250% damage reduction while reloading I don't care about, but not having the 50% armor ignore make a noticeable difference on how much damage I do, especially against things like robots.

On the other hand, with the rate of fire this thing has, I sort of never, ever die.

    What is Sim Settlements 2?

Sim Settlements 2 is a mod for Fallout 4 that asks - what if there was a reason for my character to help rebuild settlements?

In it, you'll meet Jake, who will take you through a story of rebuilding the Commonwealth and battling the forces that would prevent it; which we'll be continuing across a series of large chapter releases after launch.

In addition, it brings dozens of fully voiced NPCs that appear and react to the progress you make rebuilding the Commonwealth, many of whom have quests of their own for you to discover.

Being a sequel, it evolves on the gameplay introduced in the original Sim Settlements- with loads more features and buildings for you to dive in deep, or fully automate, settlement building.

All of this has been coded from the ground up for a faster, more stable, and more expansive Sim Settlements experience

Ok ladies and gents, I come on bended knee seeking advice. My buddy gave me a (steel book yay) copy of 76 that he never even opened. Now while I was uninterested at launch, I have been following the thread and the general consensus seems to be that the game is in a pretty good spot right now. I already made my character, named her Bast, and left the vault. I opted to put my first level up into strength for the extra carry capacity as that seems to be a very big annoying thing still. In the past I have played as some variation on sneaky sniper. Really I just want a very low maintenance build that doesn't require a lot to get going. To be honest I am mainly going to focus on getting the platinum trophy and I don't know if I will play much beyond that. I only have one equip slot for GaaS and Warframe is currently occupying it. So any tips, guides, or pointers for a new player would be appreciated.

melee no power armor build is best very low maintenance build as you don't have to worry about ammo or power armor repair/power. I would still get a few ranged perks as there are some situations that kind of require it (turrets, scorched beast, enemies that explode upon death) but focus on melee/strength.

Yep, smashy-hurty is effective, simple, and fun. And since you're building strength for it, it also helps with the inventory. Relatively perk-light, so you have a lot of wiggle room to supplement it however you want.

Ok so I am level 18 now, put maybe 15 hours into it. I have to say, it is actually really good. I feel like I am playing Fallout 5 honestly. The stash space thing only feels like it will be a concern if I just kept hoarding everything, but that is after it was doubled so it was probably much worse at launch. So far really enjoying me melee build. It is frustrating that they want me to craft my own stuff, but then make it such a pain to get ahold of. Fortunately I lucked up and found someone selling the entire combat armor heavy set with several mods. Soon as I hit 20 I will be set for armor.

I like the season board thing, it feels reasonable. I don't like how awkward the UI is for most of the l social stuff. Joining a group is easy, but it can be difficult for me to find where on the map they are. Also making every daily operation level 50, but having it be a daily and weekly challenge, is a bit of a dick move. So far no one has seemed to mind carrying me, I know I wouldn't if I was on the other end.

Having the wiki and an interactive map open on my phone means I can always find anything I am short on. I have sunk almost every point into strength, just hit 11 or 12 I think, sunk 3 into endurance for lead belly and 3 into intelligence for makeshift warrior. I don't see how you can avoid going say least 5 points into intelligence unless you plan on buying gear from other players or hoping for legendary drops.

It is incredibly strange to think that the wayward bar wasn't there when the game launched. That none of the NPC's I have been interacting with where. They did a good job integrating them into the game because they feel like they were always there.

I want to get back into my FO76 character, but I am enjoying the absolute fuck out of my FO4 Survival Playthrough (with Quicksave and Settlement Fast Travel because fuck all of that) and all the DLC's. I like how they aren't all side areas, with the automaton stuff there at the beginning (and ADA is awesome) or how you can respec all your robot companions (I put sexy legs on Curie and gave her a robobrain and I think I'm in love). Yeah there's still some jank and holy god does the framerate drop in downtown Boston, but getting back into the world has been fun and having to actually travel to places and build out an actual network of settlements.

Before NPCs, it felt like an actual wasteland, haunted and desolate, a place where all the fans were hit by all the shit even after the war, and you pieced it together a bit at a time. It was atmospheric. I loved it.

Now it just feels exactly like the previous 3 Fallouts. It's still fun, but it lost something for me.

Hit 31 this morning. I am really enjoying the simplicity of my melee build. Not enjoying the fact that I picked a bunch of 1h perks and they seem to be the worst melee type by far. Currently alternating between a super sledge and a death Tambo. I have been trying to find some updated build advice for melee with the last patch but not turning up much. I already went 15 in strength for the damage. Perception and charisma are still at 1, and I think luck is 5, endurance 6 or 7 and intelligence is 6 or 7. Something like that at least. So far I am pretty tough and deal really good damage. I picked up max starched genes just to play around with if I ever get a mutation I like. Still having fun, but there is a ton of stuff to do and, like most MMO/GaaS, it is all very poorly explained in game

    Nope! All things Fallout!

Though I am a bit hyped to see what the new Halloween event in Fallout 76 is going to be, apparently it won't be the same trick or treating in whitesprings as last year. Also hoping for some new cool Halloween stuff on Atomic Shop tomorrow, I nabbed the new decorations but hoping for new costumes

Note that some melee weapons like Boxing Glove and Mole Miner Gauntlet count as Unarmed, and benefit from Unarmed perks, not 1H! I go Unarmed melee myself, but 1H or 2H also is doable; theyve just redone how damage is calculated so I'm not sure what the current meta is in terms of whats the best. Charisma is good to get to 3 so you can get the Lone Wanderer perk (unless you play with friends/group up a lot)

Yeah I know about that stuff, I have played fallout 4 and a lot of the dumb stuff seems to have carried over. With the plus 30% 1h weapon damage there is no medium speed weapon that does as much as the death Tambo with zero perk cards. I guess maybe with weapon mods things might be different but I haven't found any strong enough to make up the 30 or 40 point damage difference yet.

I do hope they change this in the future. I'm at the point in the game where legendaries flow like water, so I have zero reason to craft stuff.

And while you can buy legendaries from the Rusty Picky, it's still a lootbox mechanic. I have spent thousands for three-star ranged weapons and never gotten a rifle, which is what I am primarily specced to use.

You should see a load time reduction just from the ssd - reductions to around 30% of the original load times seem typical.

From what I understand, to get the full next-gen increases, the data files have to be specifically arranged and compressed to take advantage of the custom data transfer chips, so I can see that taking a while.

Plus you should have higher framerates, or at least more consistent if the FPS is locked on consoles.

Hit 50 tonight thanks to the double xp. My build is still far from perfect but I had saved up enough script to get 3 star legendaries in every slot at least.

I don't get the atom shop. It must be making them money, I just don't understand why anyone would spend money on any of that stuff.

You haven’t lived until you’ve jet packed into the Scorchbeast Queen’s face in Red Rocket power armor

Damn for some reason some of my icons I bought are saying I haven’t bought them

Also just starting up again after a while how do you get the legendary perk resource?

Edit: oh you scrap cards cool. Also they need to add like load outs for cards, I hate having to swap in crafting cards then take them out again for combat cards

I just leveled up the legendary ammo crafting card 3 times, but now I’m worried it doesn’t stack with the regular 80% more ammo crafting

Gameplay Trailer for Sim Settlements 2.
Gameplay Launch Trailer for Sim Settlements 2.

This looks like what should have shipped with the base game, not the basic, kludgy, half-functional, limited, fiddly, tedious crap that Bethesda saddled players with.

Having to sit down and place every fucking thing in a settlement like nobody could figure out how to site a fucking shed was one of the major fun-breaking things about me for FO4. Made the world feel completely dead and lifeless, seeing as apparently the only person in the entire wasteland with any motivation was the player character. And then having to haul materials for that shit? Ugh.

Should never have taken more effort than saying "hey, build these five things in these spots in this order", telling people where to find all the crap, and then coming back an hour later and it's all done according to what the town residents need.

Incredible piece of laziness on Bethesda's part, first in not building a pile of settlements, then in foisting that work off on the player, then giving them shitty tools and options to work with.

I might actually reinstall FO4 for the first time since release if the Sim Settlements 2 thing is as interesting for settlement development as Bethesda should've bothered to make it.

I’ve still never beaten the scorchbeast queen, there’s just never enough time or players
