Zelda 2 Title Screen and Overworld are masterpieces.
My problem with Zelda 2's music is they used basically only one instrument...by that I don't mean the square wave, I mean the volume/duty cycle contortions that can be automatically applied to the notes played. Every instrument in Zelda 2 is "warbly" in exactly the same way. What's it called, tremolo? Every song is nothing but that.
The melodies and harmonies are fine, if not a bit samey throughout. But that one instrument kills me. Even if it was raw square wave it would be better IMO.
Here's a remix someone made using the VRC7 chip (a Yamaha chip similar to what the Genesis used, which appeared in only one NES game, a sci-fi RPG called Lagrange Point):
Here's another rockin' remix someone made of the Temple using the VRC6 chip, which added a few more channels and was featured in Castlevania 3 (Japan only):

A brief interview with the VP of the publisher (3D Realms) of my (well, I and my team's) game Ion Maiden was done during PAX by Nintendo World Report, apparently. Unfortunately I couldn't make it but some of the other developers from Voidpoint were there (though not in the video):
After PAX we released the demo from the PAX show to our Early Access buyers on PC, with even more improvements. I wish I could show you guys Switch footage, but it's all on dev hardware which is under NDA. It's so cool to see your game boot up on that tiny screen though.

Have you heard the original Famicom Disk System versions of the music? The FDS had an additional FM synth channel that some games used, primarily in tracks that wouldn't have sound effects playing over them, like title screens or Metroid's "Samus appears" and "item acquired" fanfares.
Metroid Prime Trilogy: I favor the pointer controls.
Zelda II: Love It to death, would lose my mind if they announced a new one, as I've been wanting one for years and years. (I think OoT started as a remake, as I recall.) And I believe I already talked at length in this very thread about small tweaks to it that would no doubt improve the experience for many.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!

Really looking forward to the GA release.
Remember, when dying, die with your boots on.
I want to get this simply because in my youth, I never tried looking around with a mouse in Duke Nukem (and I wouldn't grasp the concept until Half Life in high school.)
Uh-oh. The news that the upcoming Direct would have Fire Emblem news was enough to make me forget about the fact Xenoblade Chronicles X still doesn't have a Switch port.
For a while.
Now I'm starting to hope again that the XCX port that will definitely not be announced is gonna get announced.

Mario 2 and Kirby are out on the NES app now, also along with 2 "SP" versions of games.
Blaster Master SP starts you in world 8 fully powered-up, and Metroid SP 2 starts you fully powered-up and ready for the end of the game, with time to see the suitless ending.
Went over to a friend's house yesterday with my Switch and all the various accoutrements so we could play some Smash. First time ever playing docked and that really is a nifty feature. I did have to explain how the Switch worked to my friend, and I ended up describing what I could remember from the original Switch ad (ethnically diverse young people on a roof, at a park, on a plane, etc)
My friend seemed to fall deep into playing Into the Breach, and I recommended he just get the PC version instead of buying an entire new console for a 15 dollar indie title.

But your PC does not work on the go or at any of the many rooftop parties you, as a milennial, attend with surprising regularity!
Unless there's absolutely nothing going on at work today, it looks like I won't be able to watch the Direct live, unfortunately. Gonna have to somehow navigate to the Youtube vid after it airs without getting spoiled by thumbnails.

You could also go to Nintendo's official website. With luck, there'll be a big link to the Direct to click on and links to all the games featured in it will be further down the page, hopefully out of sight.

I love Nintendo Direct days!
I'll be happy if I get a release day for Armored Core Nintendo Edition as that looks rad. Also Metroid Prime Trilogy would be amazing.
My hopes:
Two port announcements: Pikmin 3 and Xenoblade X
Mario Maker 2 info
Luigi's Mansion 3 info
Rare's game finally announced: Star Fox Grand Prix or whatever. :P
Pikmin 4 please!
SNES games for Switch Online
That is pretty much it for me.
I'll be happy either way. I'm not the biggest Fire Emblem fan but fans of that game will be super happy.

Oh man I kinda hope they don't cause I'll still be at work and I don't want to embarrass myself by losing my shit to excitement.
Y'know what? Nevermind, it'd be so worth it.

It occurs to me that literally everything nintendo has put out aside from BoTW has been a disappointment, unplayable due to joycon requirements, or something I'm not really interested in.
Fortunately, BoTW quickly got in my top 5 games of all time so I don't mind!
edit: and not to sound like too much of a curmudgeon, many of those games are perfectly fine, just not what I enjoy. Also, I've really enjoyed several 3rd party switch games!

You dare besmirch Mario Odyssey!?
Yeah, I played it for a while and feel that if you're into games that look like they're draped in early 80s pleather that control like garbage and all the characters look like they're hovering an inch above the ground than it's a great game. I'll pass on it though
Unless you are an insider of Monolith, you don't know this. I know what the interview said a while back, but companies tend to lie during interviews because they are not going to make announcements during a standard interview. I still believe it's coming. Xenoblade 2 sold so well it would be silly if they didn't have a team working on porting over X. We'll see though and I'll constantly hope you're wrong.
I dunno, I can see it. I can also see them not doing it. But with how shit the Wii U's sales were leveraged against the massive sales of Switch and XC2, they'd be kind of stupid not to do it - the audience is certainly there. It's already HD so it's gotta be dirt cheap to bring this over (it barely even used the gamepad as I recall, just that survey stuff that they could move to the main screen). Seems like easy money.

I fully expect a Xenoblade X port as much as I expect the sun to rise tomorrow. Almost certainly coming out some time before X2 since it is the easiest and most obvious way to drum up excitement for a sequel to a game most Switch owners have probably never played (or maybe even heard of).
I can't envision a scenario in which a port of X doesn't sell more copies than the Wii U version.
