I can tell a lot of love went into this DLC but as a gamer who never even heard of Persona up until now, it's all very uninteresting. Just seems like some strange, somewhat generic anime stuff? Fingers crossed for something I can get excited about in the next DLC pack.
Yeah, I thought the game had already met its bullshit anime quota several characters ago, so as much ad I'm still quite pleased with the game overall this fighters pack so far has been a waste. Fighter #2 needs to bring it.
Persona 5 is great, you should look into it. It's a pretty big franchise now. They don't have too much "anime," just too much Fire Emblem.
Yeah, despite the visuals, Persona 5 is pretty much free of tired anime tropes. Don't let that scare you off.

It's kind of like Twin Peaks (deeply psychological modern fantasy, with shamanic spirits-as-Jungian archetypes that inhabit a surreal mirror dimension that represents the collective subconcious), but set in Tokyo and also they're kind of 'street-level' superheroes?
I am on record as not being a big fan of the ever-growing trend of "take any genre, but they're teenagers in a japanese-style highschool/academy and it's also a romantic comedy" anime or videogames, but the more I am exposed to of Persona 5, the more interested in it I become.
Persona 3 is still my go-to game to describe when people complain about stuff like GTA and its violence and how it's affecting the children and all that shit.
Here's a game you never heard of and never protested. Where high school students point devices shaped like guns to their head and metaphorically blow their brains out to summon the Judeo-Christian devil. But no, go on about Mortal Kombat's violence, while something like this slips through the cracks!

I'm... not really sure what point you're trying to make there? That there are other games they didn't hear about (because not as many people play them and they don't get mainstream promotion like MK or GTA) that would also be upsetting/offensive to them? I don't see how that invalidates or discredits their position? I don't like the hand-wringing 'what about the children' crowd, nor the shyster lawyers and protection-racketeering politicians that pander to them, but this doesn't really seem like a point in your favor.

It's more laughing at people pointing to those games, while seemingly ignoring other stuff that is so much worse. Oh you think GTA and MK are bad, let me describe Persona 3 to you and hopefully watch your head explode.
And just for the record, I love P3 and wouldn't change a thing.

This is how you know Wolfman is lying, because even if you love P3 you still want full party control.

P3P, yo.
I'm so glad that that was my first experience with Persona, because I can only imagine how much more frustrating it'd be to play that game without full control. I've heard of the Marin Karin memes.
Heck, I rarely even want to use Aigis's super mode because it takes control away.
I haven’t purchased the fighter pass because right now I have no reason. I don’t have any history with Joker and don’t give a crap about him.
But there’s no reason not to try building history. Persona 5 is $20 on PS4 so I picked up a copy. This weekend I’ll give it a try. I guess the marketing ploy is working.
I'm holding out for fighters that I'm more invested in as well. I'm guessing the 2nd or 3rd character will likely make me bite. Nintendo tends to know what they're doing, with these kinds of things at least.

I dunno.... they’re clueless sometimes. Tthey haven’t sold me on the DLC and I bought a PS4 game instead. Maybe Joker is a bigger deal in Japan though. Still, you’d think P5 coming to Switch would have been part of the plan. Eventually it’ll be another too little too late port.
That's all subjective, is the thing. For some, this was perfect.
I'm sure that Corrin was a perfect pick for some, too, but certainly wasn't the case for me.
Yeah, I wasn’t motivated to pick up any DLC for Smash 4. Hope the next 4 picks will do it for me. I’d love to get Shantae but that ship probably sailed.
I kinda want another Square character, just so that we can either get some dang FF Spirits, or completely show that Square don't care.
I liked the P5 Spirit battles we got, though I do wish we had got more.
People are pretty sure we know what the next dlc character will be due to data mining or something.
POTENTIAL DLC SPOILERS
They found the codename "brave" which is apparently the Japanese name for the warrior class in Dragon Quest. People seem convinced its going to be the mc from dragon warrior 3.
They also found 'Jane' and a ponytail on Jokers costumes and people assumed it was the new female character alternate costume.
But instead it was nothing. Datamining isn't always reliable.

You sure it might not end up being DQ11 protag, in preparation for the game coming to Switch later this year?

Like how Joker presaged a Switch release of P5?

I tried to jump into online play for the first time since release and found it totally unplayable. I guess it’s just me, since I don’t see too much complaining on the internet. It’s a shame, it would’ve been fun to practice against humans and actually get better.

It's been widely panned, I think everyone is just tired of complaining about it. Getting into arenas with peeps is the way to do it, connections work out much better than on matchmaking.
Honestly, my experience is that about three out of four games work pretty okay on random matchmaking. Then every now and then you just get something that is absolutely goddamn abysmal.
I live in Malaysia, and I don't think I have great internet or anything, but I have never had a serious problem with lag in Smash. I don't doubt that people do but it's never been a game-breaking issue for me.
I've never had lag too bad when it's on a wired connection, but playing local still has a huge difference for me, mostly for parrying. I can parry half my attempts in a local match when I'm feeling good, I'm lucky to parry twice in a match online.

It's a scale thing. Compared to something like a Tales game it is.

Jumping on for one fight and then quitting because I feel ashamed at my performance is not doing anything for anyone.

I can name maybe 5 times it was less than ideal.
I thought so too, until I played some local competitive matches and found out it's possible to react to things :P

I'm right near that part of the state, but I am not remotely good enough to play in a Smash tournament. Have fun though.
