Their insistence on so much of it just being copy/paste from 40k is maddening.

Like how some d>1 weapons become a mortal wound on a 6. Great now I'm only doing 1 damage when I could have done like D3 or some shit so I'm being penalized for rolling a 6 because this profile was literally just copied from 40k.

I think outside of a few "those guys" who kind of abuse it no one plays commanders in my group. Normal KT is still a thing though. Elites if you limit them they could be fun. Except for some reason Tau get battle suits. 6 wound battle suits.

But adding a single termi or a possessed or a bulgryn to me is fine.

Even the base game is busted as all hell...
    I gave up after playing:
Harlies: They just ignore 90% of the game. Terrain doesnt exist. They get into combat 1st turn, no problem. It's not fun for either player, there's nothing to interact with.
Death Guard: Roll to hit after modifiers. Roll to wound T5. Get through 3+ save. Get through 5++ FNP. Roll to injure. Translating their 40k rules into killteam just makes them -impossible- to kill.

The two LGS's near me have basically just adopted 100pt KT's, no Commanders, no Elites. We play on the Arena terrain sometimes, and regular terrain others, but it's always base KT without the OP additions. There's talk of doing a for fun 300pt tournament with Elites and Commanders, but at that point we're basically just playing little-40K.

My gripe with Kill Team as it currently stands is the lack of rules for Daemons. Only because the future sister-in-law plays them.

In all seriousness, if anyone had a descent hack for the starter Slaanesh models in Kill Team I’d appreciate it.

It’s got a mass of T5 4++ bodies to hold objectives, a wall of literal Talos meat to tie everything up, haywire still seems the way to go with despite knights being gone because it’s still pretty good at killing both vehicles and chaff. Trueborn in thier party wagons bring two squads to kill heavy targets and one to clear out screens. Anything jumping out that seems off? I know nearly fuck all about DE options.

  • LanlaornLanlaorn Registered User regular
Haywire and Disintegrator Cannons are only somewhat less bullshit without Doom, Dark Eldar really don't need to worry about the post FAQ world IMO.

    @Norgoth

The two things jumping out at me there as a bit off are the second Covens Battalion and the Trueborn. Trueborn are hella expensive compared to base Kabalites, and DE benefits more from their firepower being spread out as opposed to being condensed in a few units. I'd personally suggest making the Trueborn Kabalites and running a Kabal Battalion instead, and then adding in Ravagers or Grotesques to taste to fill up the missing points.

I actually think that competitive DE (and Harlequins) have taken a pretty substantial hit by losing Doom and Jinx and I'm skeptical that they're anywhere still close to top tier - they've lost the only army-wide synergy that they had access to. Outside of a few very specific builds they've also got a really hard time dealing with hordes, Knights and stuff like Smash Captains.

You lose a few bodies and a single command point, but in return you get better heavy firepower on a more diverse range of more durable units. You also avoid any redundant HQs, and gain some psychic offense and defense with Yvraine. If that's not necessary then you can always drop her for a second Archon and add back in one of the units of Wracks with the points saved.

The Japanese market is, for some reason, infinitely more susceptible to random selection (gatcha) type products which are much more lucrative as you get multiple repeat-purchases that way. The MtG model, basically. The original delay was because they legitimately thought no-one in the wider world would be interested in a single-pose tactical squad for five or more times the cost of a regular one. The more recent delays however appear to exist for the same reason as region coding on DVDs.

Nah, random ‘prizes’ in containers have been a thing forever. It’s just that it never seemed to be marketed to anyone but little kids (4-8 ish) over here and always in the context of some guaranteed fixed reward like the chocolate egg part of a kinder egg. In Japan you can get more or less anything* in a gatchapon ball, much like you can get anything in a vending machine.

I think it goes to show how starved people are for good looking models in their factions, and also maybe something about the cost (points wise) of Primaris considering how they fit into the current meta.

Oh man. That Tau thing… every time I see one I wanna rip its weapons off and rearrange them so it doesn’t look like such a kludge. It’s like some poor Earth-caste guy designed this sweet geological survey/scout Walker then some over-inflated Shas’O asked ‘how much can that thing carry?’ Six nightmare weeks later and it’s got missiles where the sample collectors should go, guns stuck on any old how, the survey sensors have been hacked into the marker light grid, the seismic source launcher is five times larger and called a pulse cannon, and somehow he still has to pilot it into combat ‘because the seat is too small.’

You forgot "Wait, the armored crew compartment weighs how much? Do you have any idea how many rounds of ammunition that is?"

I like the look as a thematic thing. Like, I imagine the first thing you'd do after you encountered a titan from the wrong side of the guns is try and figure out what you could do that might match it.
Which, in this case was find the biggest mech suit you've got, and strap as many guns to it as possible. And, when it can barely walk, let alone fly about on a jet pack, say "Yeah, we're going to have to change our entire tactical playbook around this thing, just like I planned".

I can see it and like it as the Tau version of a self propelled long range artillery piece, but it access to a giant shotgun, right? Gets a bit absurd at that point to be open topped.

Meanwhile, the Warboss is all, "I like it, but it needs more dakka".
