Hayabusa isn't just Ninja, he's The Ninja, specifically the most prominent ninja of two different console generations.
Like how Ryu isn't dude who does martial arts, he's The dude that does martial arts or how Simon isn't the best Belmont, but he's still the most iconic Belmont.

I mean I get that he is from a classic game series
But Ryu has a unique moveset and throws fireballs and shit
And Simon has a magic whip and throws crosses and axes and yells about Dracula
They are both iconic and interesting
Ryu is the most boilerplate ninja in the world. If I asked someone off the street to describe a ninja they would describe Ryu Hayabusa
I'm not saying hes a garbage pick and a waste of a slot or whatever
having played a lot more online (managed to claw my way to hanging around 2.5 million GSP instead of 2.1 million) I've reaffirmed my belief that the absolute most favorable matchup for Duck Hunt is King DDD.
Like I think with ideal play on both sides the match is like 1:0 in duck hunt's favor. I'll go ever farther and say that I think with ideal play Dedede would not land a single hit on duck hunt.
More pertinently, even without ideal play the match up is just grueling for Dedede. Dedede can't deal with Duck Hunt's projectiles and Duck Hunt is not scared of anything Dedede has.
I remember my Good Joke when Brawl came out was that we finally had all the Mario Bros together in one game, finally. Mario Mario, Luigi Mario and Lucario Mario.
speaking of, does anyone here play much of Lucario
it seems like they really really wanted him to take off but I don't know anyone that really loves him as a fighter or a pokemon
I'm trying to play him but he's got a bit of a curve to him. I'm mostly resorted to playing other people at work because my internet connection at home is pretty janky, but he's got a lot of good fake-outs you can use to just set your opponent off their game early and make them play out of their comfort zone, his edge guarding is okay and his recovery is okay.

Lucario rules, I am bad in general though.
Also I have no idea what to do with against Jigglypuff, since Lucario likes having a bit of damage to boost their aura but then one misstep and Jiggz sleeps you to the sky.

I messed around with Lucario in Brawl a good amount and used it for WoL for a bit, but put it on the backburner in favor of Ridley in my stable of dabble characters. And it's steadily been growing on me just as a Pokemon over the years. Might pick them up again because having a quick character in my stable would probably be wise.
I think lucario's mechanic and moves are pretty neat I just dont think lucario himself is all that cool or iconic a pokemon so I tend to forget it exists constantly

I hadnt even noticed that
I get it, it's the same as Latios/Latias, but i would've taken them out instead.

They make explosions propel bullets at things, which bleed.
Yes, they're fancy custom jobs and she enhances the bullets with her magic to make them stronger, but it's bullets.

Ninja Gaiden was a pretty landmark NES game so it should probably be represented, same thing with a Dragon Quest dude
Shenmue guy would be better though
But hes still a super bland ninja guy who does all the ninja things and dresses in all black and throws the shurikens and I've seen it 800 times
We already have a cool ninja, he is a frog and he turns into a log sometimes
But Ryu has a unique moveset and throws fireballs and shit
And Simon has a magic whip and throws crosses and axes and yells about Dracula

Just that he is really boring
You include his ninpo from either the NES games or the Xbox games and he has got some shit going on
You could argue that Ninja Gaiden (200...3?) was one of the first really major Character Action Games, his moveset is expansive and a ton of fun
Also: he is smoking hot
I wouldn't buy Hayabusa DLC but I also wouldn't buy any of the confirmed or rumored characters except for, of course,
Nah
Strider has laser swords and cool robot friends and looks rad
EDIT: You know what? Just roll with that idea for his whole Classic Mode. Call it "Double Dragons".
Ryu vs. Ryu
Ryu and Ryu vs. Roy and Roy
Ryu and Ryu vs. Mario, Wario, and Olimar
Ryu and Ryu vs. Peach and Pichu

He's from Fire Emblem, the one with the red hair.

sterica you don't gotta apologize when you're the one doing all the work to set up the tournament.
now playing inkling? that requires a formal apology letter.

The Koopa Kid, GG.

Aesthetically though it's a dumpster fire.

He and ROB were my mains in Brawl, the last Smash game I owned
I'm terrible at shielding, so his mechanic works really well for me
Aesthetically, I don't get the hate. He looks fairly cool. I'm not a dog person, but I really like blue, so
And I imagine he's popular, he's the only monster outside of maybe Lugia that gets promoted as much as the 151
Like the year Pokemon did a Superbowl ad, it was all Kanto Pokemon plus Lucario
I love him in smash and he's a Pokemon Id use if he wasnt such a pain to breed.
Other fans love him in a different more problematic way.
