The reddit thread on that is already full of stories of people who have been stalked by the same guy or been bullied by the same FC for ages. Glad the GMs can finally punish these kinds of toxic behaviour.
And people complaining about it being "unclear" and yeah, just don't be a goose in game. Easy concept. "but what if I get reported for giving advice?" no, look, I know there are GM horror stories out there but come on people.
Sorting by Controversial, I hope? I can't imagine many people sincerely jumping to that conclusion.

Not to be outdone by YouTube, where there's already at least one "Is Square-Enix against free speech?" video because of this change. It's about 17 minutes long, which is a really long time to say that free speech doesn't apply in this situation since Square-Enix isn't the US government and playing XIV isn't a right.

Hit 45 last night on NIN. Learned my last Mudra, and just had a bunch of new combos dumped on me.
I tried all of them at least once. Obviously Huton is a big deal and is a killer buff, and I see tons of value in it. Plus the Huton pinwheel on the screen is cool.
But I am having a hard time figuring out what I should be doing with these other skills. I got an AoE that creates a "heavy" debuff zone on the ground. Does this have any sort of PVE application or is this solely a PVP move? Likewise, I got an ice move that casts bind (root) on targets when it goes off. I fail to see any real PVE value in this skill.
Lastly, I got a water move that gives me a buff that lets me cast Stealth-required moves out of stealth. I don't even have any stealth-required moves. I used to. But they were removed from the game so I took them off my bar because they had little red slashes through them. What good is a buff that lets me use stealth moves out of stealth when I don't even have any of those?

Trick Attack is a stealth move.
As for Doton, you slap it on the ground and it deals damage to everything standing in it as long as it's there.

Sorry, wasn't attempting to be snarky; it's been a minute since I leveled Ninja and was legitimately unsure if that move had gotten patched out or something. But yea, the no-stealth-needed mudra is pretty much solely to be an enabler for trick attack on cooldown.

Yep. Sneak Attack was removed because Trick Attack was strictly better. You want to use Trick Attack on cooldown during boss fights because 10% more damage from all sources is huge.
Doton actually outdamages Katon over the full duration, so its good to use on big pulls.
You are correct that the ice bind move is completely useless since Raiton hits harder.

Okay.
The ice skill, you will never use. Just forget it exists.
Huton is the most important skill for you to keep up as NIN. Right now, you have to recast, but once you can complete the 54 NIN quest, you'll get a combo finisher (Armor Crush) that lets you reset the timer through combat.
Doton, the AoE, is used when dealing with packs of mobs. Don't use it against single targets, as its potency is less than that of Raiton.
Right now, Suiton is useless. But at 50, you'll get Trick Attack, which when landed from the rear (or under the effect of True North) will apply a 10 second Vulnerability Up debuff. This is massive for party damage.
I'll check my spellbook tonight and see if I have Trick Attack. I remember reading all my tooltips looking for something that says it has special modifiers from stealth and I didn't see anything, but I'll check again.
For big pulls now you want to
1. Drop Doton (the AOE field) as soon as the tank settles the mobs.
2. Spam Death Blossom.
3. Cast Katon on CD.
Trick Attack is level 18. You have to hit the back of the enemy to gain the buff of increasing damage to that enemy by 10% for 10 seconds. You do this via Suiton as people have said; up until you get your third mudra it's impossible to cast TA outside of stealth. You can use the role action 'True North' (level 48) to turn off positional requirements if a particular enemy is doing cartwheels for whatever reason.
Talking about stealth--I don't know if it's obvious, but casting stealth resets your mudras. So after a fight you can instantly get your mudras back by stealthing then clicking off the buff (I don't know how viable this is on controllers).
At 54 you'll get Armor Crush, an attack that extends Huton by 30 seconds, which makes life much easier.
Thankfully, NIN's weaponskill combo only changes in the finisher, and you only use shadow fang and armor crush to maintain their effects. No cycling routes like the other three.
I actually looked up XI before I posted my question and saw that dancer in XI used knives. But that game also did not have unique weapon types like XIV does. And there's not really much distinction between knives and daggers, and rogues/ninjas use daggers.
My guess is fans.

Dancers should use parasols and canes. You can conceal a sword and gun inside the parasol/cane and use for the finisher moves. I am totally serious about this.
The level 45 armor can be stored in the armoire, it's the original capstone set for each job. At some point in HW they went and added the second set so that your gear would be at a better spot for content (it existed before that I think, there's a lot of free catch up gear available at level 50 to bridge the gap in power between 2.0 and 3.0 stuff)
Let's say Dancers are real. Since in XIV every class has a unique weapon type, what do we think Dancers will use for weapons? Fans? Batons? Dirks?
Fans, yeah. Or Dirks.
The thing is, Everyone assumes it's Dancer, but... has there been any hint of that so far? I've heard people say it's going to be a tank and a healer, but I don't know where they're even getting that.
Can you imagine the scene inside of the Devteam's offices if they're really planning like, Geomancer or uh... Chemist? Instead of Dancer? Poor guys.

That shows you how long its been since I leveled NIN - when I did it, they were both 50 (Trick Attack was the ROG skill, Kassatsu the NIN skill.)
