the axe is definitely usable and it has the core of a strong unique playstyle but I don't think it's in the best state it could be. I don't think it needs a full overhaul or anything but I do hope they're looking at a few tweaks here and there to make it feel a little better
Staff and daggers don't really need anything right now and just work. Axe and skull could maybe use some tweaks, it's the flames that need the most attention. I suppose I'd like to see an aspect that leans harder into staff's secondary attacks, but.
also I dunno if they're planning on adding any more weapons or anything but there aren't enough games that have good whip or scythe options and man I bet they could do some cool-ass shit with something like those

I imagine the last weapon will be some kind of ranged speciality weapon, but it needs to be different from the rail/skulls. So, I can see a whip being a good choice. Maybe somehow it 'snaps' to a pair of targets and hits them both? With the forge upgrades being cool stuff that affects one or the other? Minimum range or similar being the downside?

There is one, and it's utterly broken - Momous or whatever it's called, which adds a truly stupid amount of base damage.
...It's very very boring because you just aim to get the "Your special fires twice" hammer and stack posiden on it for insane damage, but it works

that's kind of what I was thinking for a whip - a slight delay but good range, maybe with some horizontal sweep options for group clearing. it could be something between like the axe and the staff

Most of the axe's problems i think are less axe issues and more mobs that have their damage frames start too fast, or don't have enough tells, or the visuals just getting to the point you cannot SEE any tells. Which is extra punitive to the axe
Hopped on to do a quick surface run to see how it feels, and as the run started i realized I had forgotten to change weapon to torches.
Instead I had daggers and ended up with over 300 health, perma weak on boss and the -3 damage per hit boon on second boss. I messed up a ton and barely took damage.
It did help that I had Poseidon on attack and the 300% more damage on last attack hammer as well as demeter cyclone+hephaestus damage pulse on cast.
Listing all this I realize I had an absurdly busted set of boons . No wonder it felt easy.
"Burning Oil Slicks in the will extinguish after Encounters, though may be reignited"
thank you! this wasn't a huge deal but I've missed out on driftwood at least twice in the Eris arena after the fight because they were sitting in burning oil patches that wouldn't fucking go out (I even tried picking them up and eating the damage but the damage effect interrupts the pickup action)
Yep, new flames feel good. Eos change is really neat (the old effect was moved to a hammer).
The omega special sits in place hammer functions strangely with it though, it doesn't seem to have the flames drop on it, but there's like a little fireball inside the projectile? Unclear. Normal omega special does in fact orbit the projectile... but I can't tell if I can stack them.
Yeah, I think flames may now be one of the best weapons in the game. Skulls are also stupid if you get the hammer that auto-omega casts when you pick up a skull. No way that's not getting nerfed.
Everyone in the game has now been fed the maximum amount of Nectar. I even finished up a storylet --
got Narcissus to apologize to Echo.
If I wanted to I guess I could continue grinding out weapon aspects & finish up the Chaos trials. If I do that though I'll be silly overprepared for whenever the next story release drops :P On the flip side, with Hades 1, I never got Patroclus and Achillies to reconcile because there were too many other dialogue triggers in the way; I even got the damn Olympian party to happen and Hypnos a real job before that! So, maybe it would be better to just grind everything until then.
I bet Eris has unique dialog if you go up to her with her Trinket equipped, but I'll have to have a very specific build so that doesn't just kill me. ... and probably use God Mode.

just wishful thinking but I'd love to see it!

Bunch of balance changes to weapons; bug fixes; and adding new icons/graphics
Aspect of Momus completely reworked, which is probably for the best, since it was straight up overpowered compared to everything else.
The changes to hammers seems significant and the flames are probably worth trying again.
