Thanks for the advice folks! I wasn't really sure what the mechanic to that level was, assumed I had to clear all the pathways. I've successfully gotten through one total on my two trips there. At least now I know I don't have to do all of them, but those enemies torched me good.

In my experience you'll usually do 3, sometimes 2 or 4, and rarely (twice in 40ish runs to that point) all five.
FAMILY REUNITED
80 runs; 41 clears. Highest heat was 8. Highest streak was also 8. I’ll probably do at least one more run, since there are three things (that I care about) still outstanding:
Sisyphus. I’ve freed him from his contract, but not crossed paths with him since.
Achilles/Patroclus. Again, I’ve nullified the contract, but not seen Patroclus since doing so.
Dusa. The Prophecy list implies that the lounge must be renovated… Well, I’ve bought literally every lounge upgrade, and no dice.
Bonus Fourth Thing: Charon. I’ve still never beaten him.

The broken spear point is the best memento for the temple, it helps block laser and poison damage and helps vs the last boss too

Depending on how I'm feeling and what other boons are there, I might run all 5. Sometimes I might be down on a Death Defiance and there will be a mini Charon shop that has one in stock. I probably run more rooms than I need to most of the time, actually.

Hmm... do I have the guts to give up that last death defiance... not like it's helped me so far, I suppose.

The advice was good, came so so close but couldn't quite get there. Took the Chiron Bow out for it's first spin. Got the extra arrows on special, a bunch of damage upgrades, Poseidon dash, and Weak on everything. Got the bag in Styx on the second door, took on the boss and...
Couldn't quite get through the second lifebar. Probably 60% of the way there before he got me with that big laser attack.
Ah well, 26 runs down. Hopefully a win is coming soon.
Well, that was gross. Secret gun aspect, I was originally going for a Zeus primary build but it just...would..not..give it to me.
Instead by the time I got to the last boss I had:
area and damage on special +triple bomb+Demeter Special + Decay
Zeus Cast + Artemis dropped casts hurt + legendary bonus casts + Well of Charon bonus cast
Plus any damage can crit
In the third area Theseus went down before he finished his second phase animation. The last boss was a little trickier because of how he moves, but it was still probably the fastest kill I've ever gotten. The last phase he was at 1/4 HP before he even fired his special attack.
Oh, and I took down the secret boss for the Fated Prophecy.
Finally got around to picking this up the other day.
Well, it turns out when literally the entire world is banging on about a game being really good, they might actually be on to something. Who knew?
Died to Meg on the first run, reached Elysium for run two with the bow (!), died somewhere mid-Asphodel and then reached the bone Hydra for a couple of runs with the shield, and then Bone Hydra again for a go with for the spear.
Trying to keep fairly spoiler free on progress unlocks, but how do you charge your Call Aid gauge? The game didn't seem to mention how when it gave it to me. Is it just time or killing enemies or what?

Doing/taking damage primarily. Extremely minor related boon spoilers:
There are also boons that can: make you start encounters with the gauge partially full, increase the counter over time during an encounter, and increase the rate at which the gauge fills when dealing/taking damage.

To add one thing to this: the Call gauge zeroes out after every chamber. So it's not a Limit Break that you save for the boss fight, it's another resource you use to fight chamber-by-chamber. Don't be shy about the partial-charge versions for normal chambers.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
Alright, I've escaped with every weapon except for the sword now. And folks? I just don't like the sword! I don't know what it is but I just can't make it work for me. Maybe next run I try with it I'll just go all in on casting and say forget the dumb sword.

Sword took me a while to get a clear with. For me the biggest thing was figuring out I liked the special more than the third normal attack in a combo so I mostly used attack, attack, special. The additional aspects are supposed to be quite a bit more powerful than the Zagreus aspect too though more specialized.

My most successful sword run was a special/dash attack focused run. I even got an upgrade that made my special hit multiple times and some special focused boons, but still no dice. I'll figure it out.
I had a hard time with the spear as well, until I switched to the Hades aspect and upgraded the spear's spin-attack to be bigger, do more damage, and happen quicker. The spin attack with those upgrades took up pretty much the entire screen. It was amazing.
so like everyone else I finally got this game earlier this week. its just great, and after reading through the thread I fell into a few pitfalls.
20 runs using only the sword, this seemed silly in retrospec but it was still good, never managed a clear.
took til run 32 or so to get out for the first time, did it with the spear, great fun.
after that I found out that the mirror has alternate abilities. I really wish it was a bit more clear on that one. I had everything unlocked and pretty filled in on the one side.
oh and I found I had to slow it down to get really good, I was dashing around like crazy with extra dashes, and never keeping track of what was on screen and I'd dash right into death over and over. I took a chaos boon that reduced movement, and had to time dashes against meg and everything just clicked, it was a great MAtrix neo moment.
hell, now I like the one dash and just dodging as needed instead of a violent speed ball of death.
Aaand followed up my first escape with my second, with the Fists this time. Picked up Athena's legendary boon, lots of deflection stuff, plus Doom on attack and revenge, plus Zeus call lvl 3 and some god gauge buffs carried me over the edge. Doing a sword run now, still in Tartarus but it's shaping up to be a Demeter heavy build.
That's a hat trick! The sword with Cursed Slash, Bronze Skin and Different League to offset the health reduction a bit, a bunch of Demeter cast stuff for long range, plus Aphrodite's call as a nuke. I think I'm getting the hang of this!
Still stuck on the last boss. My last 5 runs, all with the Chiron Bow
Getting to Styx/Hades actually feels pretty simple now. Maybe down one death. I've gotten deep into his second lifebar every time, but can never get there. I think I would have had it last time but I ran into some Tiny Vermin boss out of nowhere that cost me a life. That was not expected at all.

The Tiny Vermin is relatively easy to cheese over the pit in the middle of it's room. Just stand on one side and anything but fist can hit it from the other side. It gets stuck on the geometry a lot. Just dash attack over and dash back if you're using fists.
Urgah! Run 11 was soooooo close. Daddy had the tiniest sliver of health bar left. I got the spear upgrade that turn your special in a spamable explosive throw right at the start and that carried me through. Lost much more health to the duo boss (beating them for the first time) than to Hades. They are utter bastards.
Demeter's cast kept getting me so close. Just couldn't get the dodging right in that last fight.
Finally got my first clear, just stacked up all the damage (and hammer upgrades) in the world on the Chiron volley, along with some speed from Hermes, let me put out 24 arrows from the special (in 3 volleys) once the primary hit. Massive damage and the Ares call at the ready for tight spots.
On to the next run. Shield or gun next, I'm thinking...

I still wish Dionysus’s Strong Drink also applied to the poison fountains in Styx, allowing for a ridiculous base damage increase before getting past Cerberus.

That would allow for infinite damage!

I keep having runs spoiled by simply too many different gods being offered. My first boon in a run last night was Zeus. 'Great!' I thought, 'I'll go for a lightning heavy build'. I wasn't offered Zeus again until Elysium, by which time I'd cobbled together a sort of function build with 4-5 other gods. I think I'm more likely to stop playing out of frustration at not being able to construct the builds I've glimpsed more than any other reason.
I did manage a full power beam crystal + lightning secret gun run though. Lit the place up like Ikaruga.

You can do some manipulation there by equipping the Gods trinket you're looking for in the second level (building off whatever you're looking for from the first. You could also re-roll room rewards.

Good points. Honestly I'd kind of forgotten about both of those options, I'm really set in my ways with regards to trinkets and the mirror.
It turns out a rail run with Zeus's boons for attack and cast and the hammer upgrades for AoE on the attack and increased speed and ammo is as devastating as it sounds. I also had a few levels in the boons that adds Jolt and increases lightning bounces. Then I picked up the legendary boon that makes you fire a bolt of lightning each time you attack or cast with a lightning boon. By the end I would hit more enemies with my attack than I could with my special. Easily had my fastest clear with the rail that run.
Wooo I’ve beaten Hades with each weapon (on zero heat)! It’s funny that Hades was such a huge challenge (and Theseus too for that matter) but once you beat him once, it’s not too difficult at all.

Hades only really has a few attacks but the first few times you reach him you're probably pretty beaten up from traversing the temple. Reaching him in decent shape makes a huge difference.
I've started taking the family favorite (+5% damage per god) over the 40% damage for having two debuffs. It's less damage, but it's always applied and I have more build flexibility
Been trying to do a 32 heat run for awhile, along the way, I've finally gotten: (slightly spoiler screenshot)
Achilles and Pat together, now just need to max their rep
and just had this run:
By far my best run at 32 heat. Got Hades down to his 3rd form, but had to be more aggressive than i'd want because of running out of time, so I made several stupid mistakes at the end of the second form which doomed me in the last.
Will get there eventually!

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. ~ Terry Pratchett
Things suddenly came together around run 30. 5 straight wins, one with every weapon except the fists. Just got through a sword run that was carried by a massive hp pool and finally not being utterly panicked throughout the last fight.
No hidden aspects unlocked yet, but what are the favorite weapon variants? I've got a little Titan's Blood on hand and wouldn't mind unlocking something.

I’m personally very fond of the cast bow and cast sword. Two very different, very fun playstyles that aren’t hard to break.
If you like the gun, boosted damage when you hit yourself with the special is easy to trigger and can add up to crazy damage.
