Fists done! That's all weapons at heat 0. I like how trying stuff I've ignored to this point is sometimes really awesome. Today's lesson - Ares dash with a few upgrades can be pretty great.

I am struggling with the sword so hard, its my most used weapon (over 30) with no wins. Last run I got overconfident and ate a few hits against hades at the end. I feel the draw back is the recovery with the sword, the special is jsut a little too slow, the dash attack recovery takes a little too long, all my timings seem just that little bit off. its special attack, dash dash eat 2 hits, rinse repeat. I think I'm just gonna go for tanky and damge when I get hit and try to outlast everything since its just not clicking.

Yeah, the sword actually doesn't feel great to me either, but I somehow won my very first run with it. I got the attack upgrade which changes the animation into a really fast cleave swing along with reflect on attack. For many fights I just stood around and held attack and won by default. =P
Yeah, sword didn't click for me until I grabbed the special that makes you lunge and attack and the upgrade to make the regular attack just fast one-two hits. Finally got the clear with the sword, so that's all weapons! Now for heat runs.
Unlocked the hidden aspect for Varatha and completed my first heat run with it. Ended up going with a special crit build and got the "special does 200 base damage but has lower minimum range" upgrade. Each spear throw was critting for like 1.5k damage. It was nutty.

and as per internet forums, I complained and the next run just was a wrecking ball. focused with ares and doom, and had constant god gauge filling but capped at one bar with zeus. went with alot of upgrades to reduce damage with athena and had some sturdy after dash. thats all weapons done on heat one at least.

I stopped playing for a couple weeks after I got the end credits. Coming back...I’m really having a hard time continuing. Like I know the general stuff here, I’m going in with new Heat and doing a gun run since I’ve spent blood to up the ammo to something much more respectable (I think I’ve got a clip of 24 rounds now)...but man, like Tartarus itself is almost so perfunctory now, I’m not sure how I feel now. Even with the relative amount of randomization going on, basically I care about nothing that isn’t a chance to talk to people and hopefully advance their storylines in some way. I think part of the problem is that previous to the credits there was a big issue driving the plot and now that’s gone. There isn’t an urgency to things now, there’s a lack of stakes.

This is the first rogue-like that has done it for me. Everspace was fun, but Hades keeps you coming back with interesting characters, fun gameplay, and really interesting art aesthetic. Took a chance and it worked out.
I love rogue-likes but always felt like they could do with a consistent narrative that evolved as you play. To say that I love how Hades does this is a massive understatement.
I just unlocked the bow aspect that makes your special home in on the last enemy you hit with your normal attack. I'm wondering if that'll make me enjoy the bow more.

It did for me. The only throng I dislike about the bow of the charge mechanic. Either i rush the timing and miss or sit rooted too long and get hit.
Now that hammer upgrade though that removes the charge for rapid fire? Mmmmmm....

Oh yeah, I can see how that would synergize really well with the homing special as well!
10th clear done. I don't normally like the spear, but had an easy easy easy run. Flurry and triple spread from Hammers, attack speed up from Hermes and a bunch of damage upgrades. Basically, if it didn't have armor it's immediately stun-locked and then dead. I think it was the Achilles aspect, but I never had to hit anything but the dash and attack buttons, so who knows.

As they are commonly implemented, bows are my least favorite weapons in games. The homing special is the only thing that makes the bow enjoyable for me and turns it into one of my best weapons.

Is there any point to all the cosmetic work orders or should I instead be pouring my gems into keys now that I've unlocked all the non-diamond ones in the first tab?

Mostly, no, with as far as I can tell a few exceptions
Some of the items are required to unlock companion quests, and hearts. Dusa requires work on the lounge and Hypnos *might* require a seat?
Personally, I love the bow. The charge thing, and how you should always be doing your charged from a dash, makes me get into a sort of rhythm, instead of just rapidfire hit the buttons constantly. It feels a bit like I'm playing Crypt of the NecroHades. In fact, my biggest problem with the secret bow is that it changes the charge timing and it throws me off completely.
Worst weapon, certainly sword. I can just about limp into a heat one clear with that thing by using the secret aspect and losing all death defiances plus skelly's tooth. I'm on heat 8 no deaths for every other weapon, but sword just... does not work.
I started playing this the other day. I can usually now get past Meg most runs.
I hop into this thread, see posts like "oh yeah I bought this yesterday and beat it on my second run with my eyes closed and keyboard unplugged" and am like.... golly I must be so good at this game :P

Most people take around 30 runs to clear. I don't know anyone here that done it sub-10, but I could be wrong.

I feel like it takes several runs just to learn mob behavior. I'm sure there's 0.01% somewhere who can beat it on their first try, but that's true of pretty much everything.

It took me 14 runs to get my first clear, but it took me 5 of those 14 (35.7%) just to beat Meg for the first time. The learning curve is, well, a curve. And the game has oodles of interstitial content, besides. So don’t worry about it, and don’t get discouraged!

Heat 10 beat for the first time, with Lucifer and Zeus attack because that's my crutch.
I just now realized that
I've never seen Dusa as the most recognized employee over by the wretched broker SO WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THAT, POPS!?
What do I need to buy to get that right side artwork?
That's the Lovely theme. I believe themes become purchasable after the first clear? Or after the credits. Once you have bought everything that actually helps progression, anyway.
How much should I care about what I use Titan Blood on? ie is it easy to respec, are there bad things to put it in, will I have enough to fill up everything eventually?

It's not the rarest thing to get but you can't respec so you do want to put some thought into it. None of the aspects are spectacularly bad but may not fit your play style, e.g. I'm so bow-averse that only one of them makes it a good weapon for me. You may want to read/watch people's opinions on some aspects before spending the blood though. While the basic Zagreus aspects tend to be decent all-rounders, some others require multiple upgrades and/or specific boons to really shine.
Took me 27 runs before my first clear, the won 9 of the next 11. Once you learn it, you've learned it (until you start turning up the heat, one of those losses was "traps obliterate you" from the Pact and wow did I not make it through the Elysium).
You don't get more than 6 blood until you get your first clear, though. After that it becomes easier to get more. Depending on how soon you think you'll get your first clear, you might want to spend the first 6 blood upgrading the basic Zagreus aspect of your favorite weapon to the max. Because it only takes 5 blood to max out the Zag aspect across any weapon, whereas the other aspects all take like 15 blood to max out.

I also may as well toss in that the sword aspect that grants crit after a special, the shield of chaos, and Achilles for spear are all pretty universally liked aspects. The caveat is that the shield of chaos benefits a lot from certain setups that maximize effects on hit from your special.

Yeah this was frustrating to run across...there should be a better UI for the Mirror alternate choices.

The stakes are that Achilles is sad.
I just killed REDACTED with his own spear. That must have stung.
I'm like four clears into the Epilogue and yeah, I might be done.
I find the gameplay to be incredibly satisfying, but other than clearing with the Chaos Egg to amuse Chaos I don't know what else I really want to do.
Run 25 for the first proper win. Using the bow but the majority of the Hades killing came down to the Artemis Call and an auto regenerating call bar.
Proper squeaky bum time, I was on fairly minimal health remaining with no defiances left. If I had lost I would have been in a serious sulk.
I had to put down the controller and walk away for a bit to let the adrenaline drain before doing the post fight stuff.
I'm much more comfortable with fists and rail
Absolutely cannot stand using the bow.

Wow! Surprising to see no Special or Cast boons but I can see why you didn't really need them in favor of going all speed/dodge/defense.
