In a vacuum, Quiet Man vs Fallout 76 goes to Quiet Man every time

But every fuckin week there's a new bullshit thing Bethesda's fucked up on, and that's in addition to the bad game

Yeah it bears repeating that their way to artistically show you playing a deaf person was to film everything like a normal scene and then strip all sound from it, and refuse to give you subtitles or any other queue of what is going on, even when the character you are playing is not there or is using sign language to talk or even just conversing as normal. They promoted inclusion and reperesentaion of deaf people and then used it as a lazy gimmick to promote the game, and to advertise a dlc they were releasing a week after the game came out to add all the sound back in.

Still wonder if Telltale's Explosion wins Hottest Mess over Fallout 76. To me, it does because 76 didn't actively ruin people's lives like Telltale's management did.

I don't think that anything can top Fallout 76 for hottest mess. I mean random people got access to their entire support ticket system, including any purchase/financial info that was submitted. The Quiet man is terrible and offensive but it didn't give away people's bank account info.

Tetris Effect is the most Giant Bomb choice for GOTY so I’m expecting that, but the hottest mess, please stop, most disappointing, and best moment categories are always my favorite.

I wonder if Best World will make a comeback.

Do Dan and Jeff not have enough to prevent Red Dead from winning it? Can God of War be pushed instead? Do they all go nuts and give it to Tetris? I dunno! For once I am not invested in it at all! My favorite games are Smash Bros and a board game, so clearly I'm on the outskirts of things!

I’m with you but it’s less what I think should win and more me piecing together what will likely win having listened to these people talk with each other every week for a decade

Tetris is a nice safe thing for them all to nod their heads at

I’ve agreed with their GOTY pick all of one time and that was XCOM and I’m pretty sure that happened to be a fluke for them. This is my favorite GB content output for the dedicated game discussion more than anything.

i actually think old game of the year will be a pretty contentious category this year

we got two big remasters in Dark Souls and Burnout Paradise, No Man's Sky got a huge update, they all discovered Hollow Knight this year (but then dropped off of it so I'm not expecting it to win), Dead Cells is a weird edge case with regard to the new rules about early access so it might qualify, and we've got Alex playing Mass Effect for the first time. Goldeneye, The Sims 4, and Mario Maker will all probably at least get a shoutout too.

Plus in terms of impact you've got Fortnite but Abby's the only one who likes that game even a little bit
