i don't really know of any of them that really wanna go to bat for it, it might sneak in near the bottom of the list but i'm not expecting it to do very well
probably depends at least a little on which Dan hates more: Spider-Man, or playing RDR2
it's going to be a tough fight for the top 3, God of War, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Nekojishi, but unfortunately only one of those actually came out this year

Huh. The video link of the Day One deliberations point to the podcast, not an actual video. I wonder if that's a goof or they didn't record video?
There’s a button you can click to switch it to the video. They’ve consolidated how they used to post three different versions of the bombcast into one version with modifiers.
The act 3 boss fights in Spider-Man were perfect illustrations of what makes that character fun, both because of the back-and-forth jokes and because it felt like Spidey really had to cut loose when fighting two of his villains simultaneously
They're going to discuss a huge list of 79+ games and then afterwards do pared down awards (down to 10, I think "worst game" is gone, but hottest mess and most disappointing are still there.) Also, everyone but Rorie is in the room.

Spider-Man spoiler
The fact that Peter is just so fucking happy that Electro gets his joke is pitch perfect.
And the choices/sacrifices at the end are some of the most Spider-Man shit to ever Spider-Man
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I saw the list but didn't listen to the podcast. Did they even discuss Yoku's Island Express? They seemed to love it at the beginning of the year, but I assume it was forgotten about like early year releases tend to be.

General consensus was that it was a really neat idea that somewhat wore out its charm towards the end of the game as the mechanics became tedious. They mention they are looking forward to a follow up.

I got the impression that none of them had finished it and I think by followup they more meant whatever Villa Gorilla does next rather than a Yoku's Island Express 2.

the first three podcasts had them talking a bit about pretty much every game they found interesting that year and then nominating them fir categories, so there were a lot less forgotten games this time around. They even actually covered last year's post-GOTY games for once.

oh shit duh. i'm a dumb.
that game was good as hell, 2018 so long i just forgot about it i guess.
it did, but it was a 2017 american release

Right, but it wasn't a 2017 game for Jeff and co, which might be why it didn't place.
i will accept no excuses for the way they completely snubbed 2017's true game of the year

Will Spider-Man be this year’s Horizon?
Wolfenstein II: The New Collossus?
i think so

Wait, it's just not on the top of the page for some reason.
Oh is this because Spider-Man doesn't kill people and usually has a kind of goofy rapport with his villains
it is amusing that, as a living, breathing cartoon character, dan doesn't like goofy things.
yes
he thinks spider-man is dorky and dumb
real heroes murder bad guys, spider-man just punches them and says a stupid joke
he begrudgingly accepts Batman because even though he should murder more people at least he beats them within an inch of their life
