I enjoyed Metal Gear Solid, Witcher 3, Touhou (not because I hosted it), and Pokemon Shield (particular towards the end as things got loopy). I ended up missing most of the runs this time around so hopefully I'll have time this Fall to go back and watch.
I would avoid Powerblade because the runner's internet got cut partway through. If it even goes up on Youtbue, I would avoid Rocco because one of the commentators made some poor decisions.

I just watched the HL: Alyx run and I think my favorite part is how when the runner uses hand motions while explaining something the hands move the same way in VR.

I am very happy to hear that, because as I've started enjoying the *GDQ events as shows and communities rather than just collections of speedruns, I've started enjoying the pre-run shows and the skits and the interviews more than the speedruns. I didn't realize that the pre-run show was skipped due to tech difficulties, and assumed that the distributed nature of the show made it hard to do a cohesive intro segment. I was really bummed about that, and this news perked me right up!

Host, Donation, and Stream Checker volunteer applications open on the 24th. I had a few people convo me after SGDQ 2020 asking about the volunteer experience. If you are interested, read the FAQ on the GDQ website. A bunch of it is not relevant for an online event, but it sets expectations. I am happy to answer any questions I can answer.
If you've always wanted to volunteer, but could never go in person, the online format is a great way to contribute from home!

Apparently there's Intended and Not Intended, as well as Any Intensity and Intensity 30.
On Intensity 1/Intended the game is mostly a stupid amount of jogging, and I guess catching your breath in all the menus/cutscenes which are quite substantial.

If I remember right the in game lore says they are plants. Which I guess doesn't prevent them from being sentient. Then again anything dumb enough to continue to follow olimar and crew is probably not sentient.
