Did they miss any incentives this year? I didn't notice any while I was watching.
Nobody remembers the singer. The song remains.

Two million dollars is definitely the given norm for GDQ events to be capable of now (aside from the time-constrained GDQx, though it's new). Three years of that at AGDQ and this is the second year for SGDQ to go past that mark, but my god, it flew waaaaaaaay past the previous year. That's pretty wild.
I wonder if it was just a general increased awareness of the event, or maybe people have become more supportive of Doctors Without Borders given a LOT of the shit happening the past couple years.

Looking at how they’ve been trending, this is pretty on the line for them. 2017 made a lot more than 2016 by similar measures, relatively speaking. The organization and visibility is growing quickly.

Did they miss any incentives this year? I didn't notice any while I was watching.
Four. A Half-Minute Hero incentive ($1,780.50 out of $3000), a Chasm: The Rift incentive ($1,930.29 out of $3000), the Secret Cow Level for Diablo 2: LoD ($11,334.34 out of $40,000), and a watch cutscenes incentive for Pokemon: Let's Go! ($3,531.79 out of $40,000). I'm of the opinion that the Diablo incentive had a tough time because it, and the runs immediately proceeding it, were out of US prime time.

They do well enough on their incentive planning. They certainly do need to take schedule into account when plotting an end point for some incentives like Diablo 2. As for others though, like Chasm: The Rift, maybe they should go for higher profile games? Never heard of that one.
No explanation on why Pokemon Let's Go! didn't get met, I would've thought of that as a given. I didn't realize the gap on it was so wide.

Its possible the cutscene incentive was competing with the Ocarina bonus game.
I will always be wary of suggestions to slot in games based on popularity.
Sometimes they just have too many competing big money objectives. Like they didn't almost get the mario 3 race because some other big money incentive was also going on. I think they need to spread out some of the "good" stuff a bit better next time. Also some of the cool stuff was either way early or super late. but such is the nature of a marathon over a week and the way they do grouping stuff.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
So what are people's picks for good runs to watch now that the event is over? I didn't get to watch a while lot this past week but my own (very limited) recommendations include:
Punch-Out!! (Wii - Blindfolded)
Resident Evil 2 (2019)
Banjo-Kazooie (2p Race)
Mort the Chicken (mostly because I had never played it and those cutscenes are something else)
TASbot Celeste, the whole Mega Man block, Command and Conquer 3, Divekick

The blindfolded punch out run is extremely amazing because the dude had to navigate wii menus.
While blindfolded.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Solomon's Key is a fantastic run of someone beating an EXTREMELY hard NES game with nothing but raw skill
Pokemon Crystal is a pretty long run, but it's a good couch with fun chemistry and solid laughs
Seconding the Resident Evil 2 mention, it's a cool watch with a pretty entertaining runner
Shrek Extra Large is a very good run of a very bad game
Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 3 are fun runs with an adorable runner
Super Mario Bros 3 race is pretty cool
Tetris Effect for crazy top-tier Tetris skill
Link to the Past + Metroid randomizer run is nutty with some good laughs

Some folks and I were talking about how TASbot was running a bit stale over the last couple / few appearances, but this Celeste run for all red berries definitely redeemed it.
Also I forgot about it but yes, Resident Evil 2 Remake was a great run as well. The bonus thing they did, 4th Survivor I think it was called, was intense as hell.

Oh, and TMNT III with PJ and Mecha Richter, and I liked the Devil May Cry one as well.
I really enjoyed the Minecraft run, not necessarily because if the run itself but multiple donations with notes from kids talking about it being their favorite game and also multiple donations from Mojang, apparently their offices were all watching the run. I thought it was pretty cool.
I just watched that run last night, and thought the same thing.
EDIT: Also, the approach to the End Dragon fight was pretty amusing.

In case anyone missed the tech 'interview' they recorded since they couldn't do it live, here it is in the Perfect Dark video - skip to 41:15 in the YouTube upload.
This glitch lets you skip past the invisible damage wall in Hyrule Castle in Wind Waker, allowing you to skip the entire Triforce hunt.
This glitch has been hunted for for over a decade at this point, and at one point had $1100 in bounty rewards for someone who could finally find an RTA-viable strategy. Due to a newly found glitch that lets you shoot infinite arrows, you can rapidly shoot the bow a certain way in the castle, which causes the memory to fill up with the arrows as they don't despawn. Do this enough, and the game will not spawn the barrier due to lack of memory.
This is, like, the biggest "white whale" in speedrunning, I don't even really know what else is left like it.
