When do they add an incentive for "Pet the sewer cat".
Wouldn't be too surprising to learn that people who were tossing donations to pet a pokemon, or save the alien critters in Metroid, would chip in a few bucks to pay attention to a poor lonely kitty living in the sewers in a dystopian future.
Remember how it's possible for Crono's cats to jump into a time portal? There's some speculation that the friendly seemingly-stray cats in Ozzie's Fort, Giant's Claw, and the Abandoned Sewers may be some of Crono's time-traveling cats.
If SGDQ next year is in MN again, imma hafta drive over and attend. What does attending one of these even cost? :Researches:
I forget what the registration fee was, $100 I think? After that, it's a matter of hotel and food cost, as well as travel to the event depending on what hotel you stay at.
$80 this year iirc. And then yeah, standard travel costs.
So I had to work last week including Saturday. When will we get some suggested runs in the OP? I usually watch most of the runs anyways but some good starters would be nice.
NES Zelda Randomizer
Pokemon Crystal was surprisingly fun, as was Let's Go Eevee
If you were brutalized by the TMNT beat 'em ups as a kid, both TMNT 3 and 4 are good
The whole Mario block from Wednesday (blind relay race, Mario 3 race, Invictus, Grand Poo World)
Breath of the Wild
And then basically everything from yesterday, but it's not all up yet.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.

Sorry I missed this because of other stuff, but now I have over 100 hours of free, engaging media to look forward to at least.
I mean I'm not trying to be mean to anyone, heavens know I missed my share of amazing runs
but VODs unfortunately aren't as amazing as watching "real" time, getting caught up in the hype.
But of course, it's better to watch a VoD than not watching anything.

Just watched the VOD of that BOTW run, that new technique for slow-mo shield bouncing off the top of Moblin's heads is hilarious, I hadn't seen that before.
Might have a look for some more recent 100% runs now, strats must have evolved so much since I last looked into it.

Well.
I had the Zelda/Metroid randomizer on in the background.
And very suddenly.
The part of the acapella Kiss From a Rose came on.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
This run is so much fun. I need this randomizer in my life.
they didn't mention it, but Andy won the Fall randomizer tourney for Link to the Past as well as the 2018 Super Metroid/LTTP Randomizer tourney. It's incredible.
Yeah they also have recently started doing Multiworld of those 2 randomizers. With multiworld they link up online multiple different seeds that several people are playing together. Items will be scattered throughout all the games. So your moon pearl might be in player 3s game, while you have swords for other players.
There is also a Crosskeys tourney going on right now. That one randomizes all the dungeon keys and items in chests everywhere too. AND all of the entrances are shuffled. So a door in Kakariko might go to Turtle Rock.
It was fun seeing him add himself more and more to the Majora's Mask run. The man should absolutely be a host/commentator, but only for people who are comfortable with his boundary pushing.
Patty primarily runs Zelda games if I recall, so he is most comfortable riffing with other members of the Zelda community, because he knows most of them. His personal brand of hosting wouldn't fit in as well with the more...methodical commentary of other genres, like RTS games.

Did we ever get a vod for the behind the scenes setup? That was so cool.
@Qanamil got it; I had to back track to our posts about it to get a time approximation and reference the schedule. It's in the Perfect Dark run upload. Skip to 41:15 in it:

That's fine - just try and get him on the couch when appropriate (and we know there will be Zelda runs) because that may have been the best couch of the event.

Streamers do have their own groups / cliques they roll with and sometimes their style of commentary works better within those compared to outside of it. So like Patty will rib Andy and Ivan because he knows those guys and does streams with them pretty frequently. But he isn't going to rib someone he doesn't really know (not at that level at any rate). Patty gets that and knows how to change it up to make any situation work. Genuinely a talented dude. Oh also, he can take the sorta thing he dishes out.

YouTube just recommended me dwangoAC's TASbot channel, specifically a 100% Mario 3 run from November. Level four (the first auto-scroller) is fucking wild.
I'm very torn about AGDQ 2020. The venue is only a 20 or so minute drive away, and I'd very much like to go, but I also kind of prefer being able to watch runs from the comfort of my own home?

The big pluses to going to SGDQ in person for me:
Being in the audience
The side stuff (arcade, board games, etc)
Basically, the part where theres a couple thousand people of similar interests in one spot.

Well attending isn't just about the main viewing room. They have an arcade, a tabletop gaming room, a room for playing console games, and streamers / people there will arrange for things not necessarily tied to the event. Escape Room stuff, going out for meals, etc. If you're involved with any speedrunner communities (be it for a game or a specific streamer) it might be worth going.

Edit - Oh and panels!
So, it's a speed running focused convention that also raises an insane amount of money for charity.
If it were 20 minutes away from me, I'd probably go and catch the VODs I missed later from the comfort of my home.
Glad I remembered to get my sub in towards that 3 million, and even gave in to get the coin. Hopefully this year doesn't see any delivery shenanigans. I suppose we'll find out in, like, the fall. I think the shipping notice said something about expecting to start fulfillment in August, and non-US deliveries can tack a month or two (or more) onto that.
Fingers crossed.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

Yeah it's very much an event. A streamer I watch a lot went into the main room of SGDQ one time, and it was for the aforementioned Patty couch run - the last day. The whole week he was just going around hanging out with people.

@Athenor
What was so funny?
Happened during the Metroid/Zelda randomizer run so pretty much that entire run, and I can confirm that it was gold.
Yeah, sorry, got caught up in work.
While it sucks that Andy wasn't feeling great, Patty picked up the slack something fierce.
He should just show up unannounced randomly.
Bah I screwed it up.
