Okay so the Castlevania 2 (Dracula 2) run.
I was gonna try learning how to speedrun this game. But the first thing you have to do in it (going to the left where the fire breathing lizards are), it is waaaaaaaaay harder than the runner made it look. You have to leap very specifically and move specifically to spawn them specifically so you aren't overwhelmed and killed. It's so. Goddamn. Hard. I can't believe how walled I've been right at the start of a run. The irony is the rest of the game is easy as hell.
That vtuber stuff looks dumb as shit which can only mean one thing... I am finally an old fuddy-duddy.
I can't comment on your status as a fuddy-duddy, but while it definitely can be dumb as shit, it can also be extremely good
Their weirdo chaos performance art vibe is vastly preferable to shitty assholes raging at video games and making millions for it, I'll say that much

One of the ways vtuber tech shines is when their models are rigged to account for hand and finger motions. Momo on Twitch does this pretty often and the fidelity with her body movement is amazing. That requires a 3D body. There are 2D versions, which the video above and the speedrunner at AGDQ use. They have higher quality art but are kinda harder to rig up to move in way that make sense (and don't allow for anything other than face recognition; you then attach the model to do things based on face patterns - for example Nyanners has her new avatar setup to recognize when she leans in close and further away).
It's something I am aspiring to get for myself, because I don't want to show my dumb IRL face on streams.
ANYWAY
This Metroid race sure is off to a very rough start. It's kinda funny that the racers were like "yay people voted for Kraid first, the fun route" and now they're getting bodied. <.<

I think VTubers are silly too, but as somebody who has a mild interest in streaming but for whom the biggest barrier to entry was "I don't want people to see me", I totally get why someone might use a digital avatar.

Y'know. It wasn't very showy, but the boss skip in the 100% Metroid Prime run was fucking huge.
Shovel Knight looks like a fun game I'd never really play much :P
Specter of Torment plays VERY differently from the original. And that said, the shit this guy is doing? None of it is REMOTELY required to succeed at the game.
It's still fucking crazy though, very much like the Mega Man 11 run.

The current runner when they marathon hit half a million dollars raised was kinda... low energy about that milestone.
Eh, people are who they are. Without a huge audience going nuts right behind you, I can't blame someone for not suddenly getting hyped up if that just isn't their style.
(This is assuming the person was acting their normal self and not like, actively pulling back and downplaying)

Holy shit the Golden Sun has Bowie the HERO on commentary and Argick on hosting duty. Bowie is an excellent dude. He does an annual event called Camelot Month where he runs through all the Shining games, plus a few other games, as made by the developer Camelot. I watched it last year and while I was already aware of him prior, it was a good time to get to know him a bit more.
This Spyro runner seems so proud when he does the hard tricks, it's fun
I love when the runners show some emotion about getting shit down. That's part of what made Specter of Torment so fun. That dude was hype as hell when he got some quick kills in on bosses.

Not for bosses, except for yellow demon. They pause buffer a few times to avoid some platforming clipping issues that the game is notorious for.
