I'm not really that happy with my life, but the though of one day ceasing to exist keeps me up at night. I'm not sure I'd want complete immortality, but I wouldn't sticking around a lot longer than the normal human lifespan.

Well, in a roundabout way sure, I got several recurring bills that meet that criteria, but I just meant that currently I got a finite time to live my life so there's a deadline on doing something notable or worthwhile with it.

I would say there is a pretty huge difference between a character being a horrible racist, homophobic goblin in a show that is literally all about horrible offensive shit versus Wolverine having a consistently traumatic, painful life that colors every part of his existence and prevents him from being truly happy

    Not in terms of emulation

Wolverine is cool, so people want to be like him

It doesn't matter that the text of the films is that he's lonely. People still want to be him, because he's extremely appealing

Like, its still a power fantasy. Wolverine hurts, but he cant actually BE hurt and he solves all of his problems by being a super cool badass who stabs bad people to death

Unless you completely change everything about the character until people pity wolverine instead of wanting to be him, people are still gonna want to act like him, including smoking

it depends on how beloved the character is by children

in general, people on wolverines level shouldnt be shown smoking because its extremely easily emulatable, addictive, and bad for you at every level

This seems to be the original story
He’s been kicking bad guys’ rears for years – but now, Marvel Comics superhero Wolverine is kicking butts.

The popular X-Man, and other smoking Marvel heroes, have been ordered to kick the habit by Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada.

“Villains can still smoke, but that’s OK, because villains are stupid,” Quesada told The Post.

The Marvel Comics boss said he decided to institute the smoking ban because it was a “responsible thing.”

He said the “main culprit” was Wolverine, the cigarette-smoking, cigar-chomping star of the company’s best-selling comic, the X-Men, which was turned into a hit movie last year.

In the comics, lung cancer and emphysema aren’t much of a threat to the clawed Canadian. He has a mutant healing power that, in addition to helping him survive high falls, bullets and stabbings, also keeps his lungs clean.

That’s still not good enough for Quesada.

“[Wolverine] is a role model for some kids and he shouldn’t be smoking,” Quesada said.

“Besides, the healing factor would keep him from getting addicted to nicotine anyway, so it doesn’t even make sense for him to smoke.”

Also hit by the no-smoking ban are Wolverine’s fellow X-Man Gambit, and two of the company’s oldest characters, Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the ever-lovin’, blue-eyed Thing, who’s been smoking stogies since soon after he first appeared 40 years ago as one of the Fantastic Four.

The no-smoking decision was a personal one for the editor, a popular artist who took over the home of Spider-Man and the Hulk last year. He’s a non-smoker who lost his grandfather to smoking-related emphysema and saw his father suffer a collapsed lung from smoking last year and still have problems quitting.

“It’s a nasty habit that’s affected my life in a tragic way,” Quesada said.

The comics are produced about three months before they hit newsstands, so the smoke won’t disappear from comic readers’ eyes until December.

Smoking will still be permitted in the company’s new line of mature titles, Max Comics.

So it is, or was, still permitted for mature titles
