Morbius isn't Dracula's son, not sure where you got that from.

This is Xarus, who was introduced in Curse of the Mutants, if I recall correctly.

Honestly, any of the O5 X-men could easily be played by an African-American actor or actress. Iceman, Beast, Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Angel - all would work.

I already settled on my MCU X-Men team. Storm is the leader, a properly done Beast is the brains (If he isn't quoting the classics, then he's out and I'm putting Colossus in), Gambit and Rogue are the love/drama birds, Jubilee is the PoV character, and Nightcrawler is the fuzzy blue elf. Villain-wise, fight like the Hellfire Club, or Mystique's version of the Brotherhood. Keep Magneto and the other big bads on the back burner for awhile, till you can build up to Asteroid M, or Master Mold or something.

This line up also has the benefit of keeping Summers and Grey nonsense from over-running the establishment of the group, and let's the Wolverine character take a damn rest while they find someone else who can do a new take a on it.

You can also intro some of the newer characters and figure out who will stick with audiences and bring them on in future movies.
Also Deadpool and his boyfriend Cable can blip in for a scene to let Deadpool be Deadpool until Cable apologizes and drags him off.

if i was making an x-men movie, storm would be my protagonist.

the in-place team would be wolverine, jean, cyclops, gambit, iceman, and rogue

the story would focus on storm recognizing she is not a goddess and re-dedicating her power on a global scale, while simultaneously dunking on the narrow and privileged view of the xavier academy

and i guess the villain you use for this is shadow king (incorporating her animated series sorties) but i don't think it's that important

All these non-cyclops teams are bumming me out.

Anyway there are too many things that they could do for me to say specifically what I would want them to do but I do think they should just pull the damn trigger and make magneto an antihero as quickly as possible. The biggest mistake VX men movies did was having him still be the villain after days of futures past.

I really liked X-Men comics when they had split into two teams: Logan becoming the Charles Xavier type living in the mansion; Cyclops drifting over toward the Magneto type and basing himself out of an old Weapon X facility, being all revolutionary

But that was like 5? 10? years ago now, and I’m not sure how you get that status quo into the MCU

My ideal would be X-Men set well after the Charles/Magneto period. The original team are now the teachers. Pick five unsung/new mutants and do a The Breakfast Club type movie.

I want someone to dare to do a superhero movie without a main villain. Just show me this other world, the good and the bad parts.

I also want an elaborate suit-up scene with characters that don’t have access to anything you couldn’t buy in a store, just because I think that’d be neat. Like shin guards and a leather jacket, or a utility belt covered in glitter for Dazzler.

An X-Factor Investigations movie would honestly be the best way to introduce mutants in to the MCU

They've always been around, so you have your street level, low stakes team that blends in to the background as your introduction to the core conceits

Agreed. Bonus points if you use Layla Miller in a way that can retcon the whole no mutants in the MCU thing in a clever way.

I am absolutely onboard for doing one of the lesser X-teams for the initial MCU films. Even something like X-Force would work.

If I were to make an X-Men movie, and not like, something else in the X-Universe to set up an eventual X-Men movie, which is my personal preference, my setup would be:

    - Jubilee or Shadowcat as the viewpoint character - a normal seeming teenager who has recently discovered their powers and been invited to the Xavier Institute.
    - A student body composed of, off the top of my head, Husk, Marrow, Chamber, Armor, X-23, Dust, M, Quentin Quire, Oya, Glob Herman, Mercury. Mostly people with visible mutations, combine it with explicitly queer characters and people of color. Not all of these would be main characters, but I don't have a specific set in mind that I want to form the core three to five characters beyond the viewpoint character.
    - Headmistress Ororo Monroe. The Xavier Institute was established by Charles Xavier back in the 60s, but it's 2019 baby, he's dead as hellllll.
    - Teachers Hank McCoy (literature and biology), Bobby Drake (mathematics), Forge (engineering), Sage (computers), and Piotr Rasputin (history and art)
    - Instructors Scott Summers (tactics and marksmanship), Kurt Wagner (fencing and acrobatics), John Proudstar (wilderness survival and first aid), and Sam Guthrie (flight?).

The plot would revolve around the students - they would remain the main characters regardless. The first half of the movie focuses on their time at the school and introduces some of the cast (obviously there's way too many to do personalized introductions for, a lot of them are just there to be background), and around the midpoint there would be an attack on the school by the Hellfire Club or Sentinel Services or whatever. The core group of teen characters would escape, amidst some big setpiece action where we get to see some of the staff do their thing. But then for the remainder of the movie, they'd be solving the plot on their own. After they win, they go back to school, and the school continues with its scheduled baseball game.

I'm imagining a very good scene in which Storm explains all of this to Kitty, that mutants have always been around and in the past they've just been quietly covered up, that many alums of the Institute hold normal jobs as detectives or scientists, and that if anyone ever got wind of what was going on and tried to make it public, Charles Xavier would just quietly remove their memories before they could say anything.

And then Kitty says to her, "This Charles Xavier kind of sounds like a jerk."

Your ideas are all super fun. Sometimes I wish they would listen to longtime readers. They didn't spend all this money to leave their most sought after toys laying in the box. We are getting Wolverine right away and front and center, I don't see a world where Storm isn't old enough to eventually be a love interest for Black Panther because they love to blend O.G. stories with a handful of current threads/ characterizations. There is a virtual zero chance that the recognizable to general public names are all we get for years which kind of bums me out after reading the last page or two. I am sure there will be a real shake up to the actual story beats, but I don't think we are getting a New Mutants style plot or X-Factor investigations for a long ass time despite them being much more beloved by readers in recent years than what is considered the core characters. Maybe...MAAAAYYBE if we are lucky that kind of stuff gets on Disney+ or Hulu.

Inside of a dog...it's too dark to read.

I think my official picks for supporting members of the main cast would be:
    - Husk: Tries to play herself as being an aloof cool girl who doesn't care about anything, and it mostly works. Unfortunately, her older brother is a teacher, and he one hundred percent refuses to stop humiliating her in front of her classmates.
    - Marrow: Deeply self-conscious about her extremely gross powers. The biggest instance of the mutant metaphor being about puberty - where other teens get acne, she gets painful bone spikes. Tries to hide her powers a lot, serving as a sort of contrast to Husk, who also has pretty gross powers but is unabashed in using them.
    - Quentin Quire: An absolute asshole, for sure. He's a cruel teenage boy, an opportunistic bully, and deeply, deeply lonely. It's a cliche, yeah, but I think it works for him. Explicitly queer.

Other small bits and things I'm seeing are Chamber as a loner/outcast type who fends off Quentin for the protagonist when she's first introduced to the school, X-23 being a mysterious and sort of revered legacy student that doesn't talk to anyone, Glob as Quentin's bully sort-of friend, Mercury and M as cool girls (who Husk also hangs out with, but can sometimes be an embarrassment to because of her brother).
