The jet turbine was originally built for helicopter use, but the person that started this project converted it from driving a prop into a thruster complete with an afterburner and THRUST VECTORING.
The coolant sensor may not have even been an issue, what is actually happening is the multiple displacement system is glitching out. So when it tries to kill heads 1 and 6 something is keeping it from actually shutting them down.
Which honestly, I bought a v8. I want a v8. Stop turning my cylinders off I did not consent to this fuckery.
I drove a V6 Impala a couple times. The extra acceleration was awesome.
For most car people, a deep v8 rumble just can't be replicated, even with the age of the v8 coming to an end. I'll certainly miss it in our electric future, though v8s will be around for quite a while still yet.
My car doesn't even have a 20 gallon tank. And a full one will take me like nearly 400 miles.
Yeah mine's only 10 now and takes me about 550 miles. I've learned that as soon as I hit 71 MPH I peak out at mpg and it goes into freefall, so driving on the Interstate can ruin my mpg.
Well, in places that have high Interstate speed limits, anyway.

Man, a few weeks ago a Hellcat stopped next to me at an intersection, driven by some 60-something who I couldn't convince to rev it up. I pondered, in my weary silent sadness, why a person would buy a Hellcat and just drive it like a fucking Avalon.

About to pick up my car with a full new set of tires, gonna be real nice not hydroplaning on I5 every morning with all of this rain.

I think probably to induce your weary silent sadness. Feels personal.
The thing about V8s is that yes, they make can make a whole lot of power and it's not difficult to make them sound good, but the real secret is that they're generally really, really smooth at delivering power. I think that gives them a real sense of authority, that you can comfortably glide away from a stop light up to highway speeds without even breaking a sweat. Or you can jam your foot down and melt the tires, your choice.
You get some of that from straight-sixes as well, as they're inherently balanced engines and capable of making good power as well. V12s too, of course, but those are relatively rare compared to V8s.

Hahaha. A couple years ago a blacked out Challenger was sitting at a stop light. It was before the Hellcats but it was definitely a top end one that might have been modded. The v8 had a nice lope to it. A shitty Acura Integra with a chopped exhaust pulls up next do it and starts revving, its exhaust popping like its going to throw a piston. Anyways the light turns green and the challenger is just gone. It barely got up above a purr before it was through the intersection and rapidly pulling away. Not even like burning out speeding or anything, It just accelerated. The sad little Integra is sitting there winding out the engine and barely moving. All sound, no fury. You can make an Integra go fast. these people had declined to do so.

This is just another real life example of the scene in Joe Dirt where Kid Rock eats shit.
I mean this thing isn't really any more performance than what your average trooper gets I guess but holy shit it will grip down and churn up asphalt if I let it.
Makes me feel like I'm some kind of evil predator. It's so responsive and you almost don't feel the acceleration.
I drive a 2015 Mustang GT PP as a daily. It's really fun. It's got some pretty low gearing for a modern car so pulling from a light, if I want to be gone, it'll take me there. And the sound, ugh. I have a Ford Racing Borla Touring exhaust. Pretty quiet on the spectrum of aftermarket pipes, but it sounds freaking amazing. But the best are onramps. I live on a flat straight pancake so I don't get a lot of turns to have fun with. Onramps? Yeah, those are fun, lol.
So are there other people on here planning on getting a lightning? Found out from the dealer that orders had been delayed. Still pretty excited even if I've got to wait a little longer.

Im going to wait for the 2nd gen, but yea i want that mega frunk.

I’ve owned… 7 V8s.
Jgeis pretty much covered it. They’re inherently balanced, they run smooth, they sound great, and they make good power - especially low end power that you feel rolling around town. The final days of the V8 are here, but it’s definitely worth experiencing one if you have any interest in cars.
@Juggernut is the Charger throwing a particular code? I have access to the factory service manual, might be able to dig up something useful so you don’t have to keep throwing parts at it.

One nice thing, is its currently a v8 renaissance. For the final days of big motors, I couldn't ask for better cars than the ones that are currently coming out.
Yea the SD1 had been pretty badly neglected and was broken for a week every month in the 8 months I had it. After that I had an E30 323i that was a much better car.
My first car was also V8 powered, a ‘90 Chevy Suburban. Big, ponderous, thirsty, but it felt nigh-unstoppable and commanded the road.
I don’t think I’ll really have the opportunity to own another V8 powered car at this point, looking at current gas prices and the future of both climate and economy I think my next purchase will have to be a very fuel-efficient hybrid. I’d kind of like a Maverick, but something a little more comfy like a Hyundai Sonata or Honda Accord hybrid also seems nice if I can swing one.
Honestly if I came into enough money to pay off (or give me a pretty solid trade value over the remainder of) the loan on the Jeep I bought 2 years ago, I’d probably trade it in ASAP. I really like my Renegade, but paying $4.29/gal for regular is getting real old real fast.
Yeah, that’s why I have the Cruze, 40 mpg average is great for daily driving, and I’ll eventually replace it with an EV. I do plan to buy one last, clean V8 as a toy though. The last dinosaur.

Very same. That and the lack of gears to shift will be the two things that I will deeply miss. That rumble is just *chef's kiss*.
I had a v8 Crown Vic LTD for a while, so not as much of a rumble, but the surge of power at the whim of my foot was just so, so good. I miss that part of that car. Not so much the "Oh now I have to park this boat" part.

You can't give someone a pirate ship in one game, and then take it back in the next game. It's rude.
Conversely, they should go all in and add more spoilers all the way up to the front of the hood.

Are v8s cool

My old '78 Ranchero had a V8. It was very cool.
Refilling a 20 gallon gas tank every other week was less cool.
It go fast hueheuehuehe
Also the noise it makes at idle

Mine was a '65 Mustang with the 289cui v8 and a 4 speed. That car was magical. If it didn't have terminal rust cancer I would have kept it.
