I just don't get it. The 2014 concept WRX looked incredible. Why do the production versions always look so pedestrian?

The new WRX is a bit questionable.
But I am actually very excited by what they do with the next STI on that platform. Because it has all the right makings that with a little more aggressive flair could actually end up looking fantastic.

I mean...think they'll still use the 2.5 liter from 2008 that they're still putting in the STI today?

My heart says new motor like the wrx, but my brain says no.

I hope they do an update there for sure.
I imagine they'll do an official reveal sometime next year.
The worst one I personally encountered was probably the Citroen Cactus
Including that giant oversized airplane power lever style hand brake.
Mercedes putting their's on the steering wheel stems might be good if you're used to it but I only ever drove them as rentals and there's just way too many functions on all the stems hidden behind the wheel to be intuitive.
Someone in this town clearly has too much money. For the last few weeks one of these is parked near me https://youtu.be/aFFcUroXqAs
(German video but you can get the gist of it I think) Full carbon/aramid superstructure and also parts of the interior, 7.5 tonnes (without extras), 300hp
apparently starting price without all the extras in the video is around half a mill $ (MAN truck not included!)

With how expensive even used RVs and overlanders have gotten during the panini, 500k for a semi-custom all-carbon rig actually doesn't sound like the worst deal
Wouldn't they want to put that on the passenger side, just for driver visibility reasons?
No, because due to the angle of the sweep you're going to miss like 30% of your windshield. You're losing the entire upper quadrant of windshield on one side or another. I REALLY hope its using a blade from some commercial truck already in production. Otherwise thats gonna be one expensive replacement, or you're gonna have to get good at threading an insert.
You guys, there’s an Oldsmobile Achieva SCX for sale in SoCal. That’s the one that got the W41 Quad-4 engine with 190hp, a specially geared 5-speed Getrag transmission, and the FX3 suspension package. It’s not quite the American Integra Type-R, but it’s definitely like the American Integra GS-R (although with more power)?
I’ve posted about my love for the crappy American “performance” cars of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s before. I’m so tempted.
But I have to put down a deposit on a new apartment before February 1st.
A nice thing about the big manufacturers starting to roll out EVs is that they let the designers be a little less conservative with them compared to the regular line up. Compare Golf and ID.3 for example.

Welp, my engine may be dead. It started making a loud takka-takka-takka-takka noise on Sunday, so I brought it to my usual mechanic yesterday. He says the noise is coming from inside the engine and he's not comfortable trying to diagnose it any further, and recommends I find a Subaru specialist. I found one, and I'm waiting to tow the car over this morning.
New car prices and availability are still kind of crazy, so I don't want to buy a new car right now. I'm probably going to replace whatever needs replacing with OEM. Might as well get a new clutch while the engine is out.

Oof, hopefully it's not something too deep in there... and yea, replacing clutch, water pump, generally anything that's 1000% easier while the engine is out is the way to go if you can.

Initial assessment just from listening to it is that I need a new block. Probably a spun rod bearing or a bent rod is the culprit, but they'll know more when they disassemble it tomorrow.
A new OEM block including all the rods, piston heads, etc, has a 2 week lead time and comes with a 1 year warranty. An aftermarket built block with aftermarket parts is about 3 weeks lead time. I need to ask what kind of warranty comes with that, if any. Since I'm not looking to increase power, both options would cost about the same, maybe $300-500 more for the aftermarket setup.
He said the head is usually fine in these circumstances, but they'll send it out to be machined, cleaned up, etc.
Probably looking at around $6000 all told, plus whatever it costs for a clutch and other accessories that get replaced now.

EDIT: Now with both images there...I prefer the civic backend.

Thanks, I hate it. The proportions and the angry murder face, blegh.

Looks like. There is no other place to hide a wiper. The hood and windshield look flush, no place to tuck a 2nd wiper.
