The best part about the Broly DBZ movie was when they're fighting and Goku goes in and out of the lava in the center of the Earth and his clothes are totally fine.
I'm not lavatologist but I'm pretty sure in rock/paper/scissors/lava/clothes, lava beats clothes.

I want some out-there stuff, like canonizing Android 21 or something.
Or try and explain Turles.
While those characters are cool, I'd prefer them to keep rolling out brand new stuff like Moro, or something from the other universes, rather than bringing in more existing characters from other stories or games or similar.

he protects his clothes with ki, like any wizard would
that leak of them adding a Tournament of Power dramatic finish was a good way to remind me that the final episode of Super is the best Dragon Ball thing there's ever been
it has everything! it's perfect!
The climax with the song BLARING and Goku and Freiza teaming up and Goku flickering in and out of Super Saiyan was basically like the scene in Ratatouille where Anton Ego trys the ratatouille and is brought back to his childhood except instead of warm memories it made me a sugar crazed 12 year old screaming at their TV again
it's kind of astounding how much less interesting that sequence is in the manga
in the anime that scene is pure adrenaline and kinetic energy, just everyone on the edge of their seat screaming, Goku, Frieza and 17 forming a plan together and the former two having to work as an explicit duo for a moment, completely wild ideas like Frieza getting tossed like Gimli, Goku's flickering status changes, while the whole time this ridiculous song is playing
and then the manga is "well, Vegeta is there until he gets bonked in the head, now he's out, also turns out Frieza was there and him throw big ball and Goku hold Jiren down and it knock them out, also 17 was still there, grats"
I can't tell how it would feel in a vacuum but in comparison it doesn't have a hundredth of the impact

It is more tightly plotted, which is saying something considering how some arcs drag, the characters are far more fully realized and it plays with the universe in really interesting, exciting ways

I watched a lot of early DBZ last night as I was going to bed and I had a dream that Goku was giving me like, a clinic.
He was, on purpose, just chillin' so I could get used to punching the solid stone of his body, and then he taught me how to dodge and do that cross-arm block.
he told me next time we'd work on flying and I woke up.
it ruins me to know that there won't be a next time where Goku teaches me to fly.

I like the manga ending a lot conceptually specifically because they don't win by being stronger than Jiren, but it's for sure less climactic
The manga ending was pretty solid I thought but yeah, compared to the anime ending there is absolutely no contest.
Though maybe I just thought the manga ending was good because I was so let down by how the manga handled the rest of the tournament.

I think DBZ Kai is better than Dragon Ball Super.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

It appreciates fans to a degree I don't really think Toei is really capable of most of the time and its hilariously self aware at the right times
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

Oh my gosh yes, particularly in the dub
Goku singing "Cha-La Head Cha-La"
"I am absolutely Krillin it today!"
And the oh-so-subtle reference in the way Christopher Sabat pronounced "Moustache"

Maybe. There's still the introduction of the Omni King button and the end of the Zamasu arc. In terms of bloat, Super is better than Z, but I think Z had the superior villains and a more satisfying arc for Vegeta, and Gohan up to the end of the Cell Saga. I prefer the Faulconer score too. Honestly some of the animation is still better as well. Plus the act of transforming was a huge and awesome deal initially and just looked cool.
But Super is leaner and more focused on where it is going, and has an arc for Frieza too I guess. I'm not a fan of the god stuff but it allowed for scope to introduce a bunch of characters from different universes who are also powerful.
It's definitely not something that is anything but down to personal preference.

I think DBZ Kai is better than Dragon Ball Super.
When In was a kid Gohans transformation and fight against Cell was my favorite single moment in media ever and extremely emotionally effecting. I tried to rewatch it a year ago but chose Kai instead. Figured the original would be to slow now. Kai is still to slow. Every moment of power and speed slowed down until it lacks impact and I’m just waiting for something to happen.
OG Dragonball is good and super-imaginative but also has stuff like Bulma falling down and a crowd looking at her panties like they're looking at a unicorn and it kinda ruins the epsiode because you're asking yourself whyy
the near constant "bulma exists to be a vehicle for titillation and a target for all of the many sexual harasser characters" thing in early dragon ball kinda ruins it for me

And then in Super it changes to "look how old and saggy she is".

Come on, guys.
To be fair only Goku thinks that. Vegeta was getting ready to get busy in that same scene

Yeah but like
That is so very not in Goku’s character. In other scenes he is presented essentially as asexual or completely ignorant of sexual concepts and suddenly he’s got “opinions” about Bulma’s body. It sucks!
Man isn't Whis SUPER biased? They blatantly helped defeat Frieza and save the Earth.
Nope, the Grand Priest explains why that was okay.
Whis didn't save the Earth to help Goku, that'd be breaking the code. He saved the Earth so he could continue to eat its food, since that's a selfish desire it doesn't break the code even if it happened to help someone else.

It's a interesting system for the laws of that universe, and the authorial intent, in that it separates altruism from selfishness at a divine level. Normally I would think there would be lot of overlap. Then again it's just a manga, and probably not meant to be thought about seriously.

Best DragonBall Super thing I agree.
Z has dozens of amazing moments.

DBZ has Yamcha doing his controllable ki blast thing with a baseball in a professional baseball game though

give me a yamcha baseball show, you cowards
Didn't expect that character to show up in xenoverse but i'm not complaning
That's my hot take.

You arnt wrong but it always feel out of character and also those jokes suuuuuuuuck.
Gimme the Goku that’s never kissed his wife.
Nope, the Grand Priest explains why that was okay.
She’d better be careful. The androids could be anywhere.
Big fan of the comedy/fighting balance in that movie, it made Resurrection of F a little worse for me by comparison
