I watched umbrella academy and didn't care much for it.
Now deadly class? That's a good comic book show.

Umbrella academy has some really good performances, bad pacing, eh dialogue, good concepts, and just...not the best execution of material.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I really liked all the actors in umbrella academy but the whole show was a loud wet fart. A couple episodes too long as well but that's par for the course for a netflix joint.
In this last episode the main kid and his family fight back old people using the power of rock and roll music.
These two statements are baffling when compared to one another
I always find it weirdly quaint nowadays when rock ‘n’ roll is depicted as a young persons rebellion against his parents. My dude rock is older than your parents. Have you considered rap or dubstep? A lot of old people still hate that.

To be fair, these old people are like 90 years old.

I enjoyed Umbrella Academy, but with these sorts of shows I tend to focus on performances more than anything else

I am watching the Americans.
I was getting at a slow point and was kinda trudging but I just got to the point where
They break in to bug the mail robot and Elizabeth is talking to the old woman that she knows she has to kill.
Holy fuck what the everloving fuck.

"Fine" is my compromise between how much I really liked almost all of episodes 1-8 and how how much I really hated episode 9
episode 10 I mostly liked and if I set aside how we got there then I thought the things that happened in it were pretty good and the divergences from the comics were neat
Like I really liked that Alisons solution was deafening Vanya instead of shooting her in the head like in the book! I think for a TV show "lets time travel and become a better family" is a better hook than "actually klaus has god tier telekinesis and he can safely catch a moon chunk"
Cha-cha got a raw deal but Not John Goodman and Donut Lady got a sweet goodbye
They actually took Klaus and Ben seriously at the end which was nice
I want Luther to get fired into the fucking sun but thats fine
I thought most of the series was good to very good but episode 9 was the most frustrating 45 minutes of TV so far this year for me and really tanked the average
Co-produced by HBO, an adaptation of the Philip Pullman book series. 2 8-episode seasons greenlit with the first one having been filmed already, airing later this year on BBC One in the UK and HBO elsewhere
Stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, James McAvoy, Dafne Keen (Logan), Ruth Wilson (The Affair), and Clarke Peters (The Wire)
Cast also includes Ian Gelder (Game of Thrones), Will Keen (The Crown), Ariyon Bakare (Rogue One and the upcoming Good Omens), Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch), James Cosmo (Wonder Woman), Geoff Bell (Kingsman) and Mat Fraser (AHS Freak Show)
Executive producers Toby Emmerich (Game Night) and Deborah Forte (Mortal Engines)

I would fall asleep and wake back up repeatedly for different sections of the film.
Each time was entering and departing a startling new fever dream.
Its a nightmare of a movie. We hate movies did a show on it.

Just one conversation with everyone present and all the bullshit secrets on the table
Not 3 conversations with different people there each time and then not sneaking down to let your sister out of the torture room
Just write "I love you I don't blame you we'll get you out soon" on a post it note
We can let murderous young john goodman go free but we cant defy monkey boy

The Americans, everybody~!
My primary thought: how much budget did they v spend on music licensing?
Some do
Some don't!
I'm liking it through episode 4 but can predict there may be developments I will find frustrating
They just must have spent a fortune on licensing music.
