I was going to say, let me be the one to take that risk! I'll take that risk SO HARD.

the great thing is if it doesn't work out you can just set all your money on fire like the joker and go back to being poor

I don't know why but being an gratingly obnoxiously good character in an otherwise normal DnD group just seems so fun.

The problem is I can't play that way. I'm more of a Chaotic Neutral type in RPGs.

Yeah, it’s fine to be the voice of reason but frankly it is so much more fun to be the “I shoot the hostage.” “You what...?” “I (as is my wont) have the highest dex/reflexes/initiative in the group and I act before anyone can react.” “....are you sure you aren’t going to talk it out...sigh...roll it then...”

Plus the other 3 party members are Good, so they all end up making the same sorts of decisions. I'd rather have someone who would do something different in certain situations.

Oh yeah, that changes everything. I said being a goody goody in a normal dnd group sounds fun.

What about a social media platform that is more about creating an autobiographical timeline for yourself with very easily removability and privacy controls.

I love the depth of worldbuilding and story, getting to know my murder hobo friends and playing Castle Simulator, but find combat a bit of a chore a lot of the time -I read White March is inspired by Icewind Dale, so does that mean it's also just the combat with barely any story stuff, like the relationship between Baldur's Gate and ID?

    @jakobagger Yes, absolutely.

The White March is inspired by Icewind Dale in terms of setting and a couple of setpieces - a windswept fishing town, a spooky haunted monastery high in the mountains - and it has some harder optional fights for people who are really into the Pillars combat (new dragons, etc), but it doesn't skimp on the story and in fact I'd call its narrative almost essential. Without getting into spoilers, it deepens and fleshes out the nature and role of the gods in the setting, which is important to the last act of the game and to basically all of Pillars 2, and gives you a new town full of NPCs and quests as well as two new companion characters with their own quests.

Dishonored 2 feels like a nicely relaxing immersive sim, playing it straight after Prey

It does answer a moral question that I previously had not considered, namely "Would I be willing to try and smuggle a corpse through a city filled with civilians in broad daylight for unknown and probably nefarious reasons"

Turns out that yes, I would!

I am very into the religious lore and the interesting mythology remix of the gods, to a maybe embarrassing degree so if this is more god stuff I am all in

Just got done doing all four of the 'god appeasement' quests and Durance's personal quest of consecutive theology debates

PS what's your preferred god and why is it Eothas. I suppose it could also be Hylea but Eothas seems the most Superman/Paladin-y out of the whole pantheon

It's actually getting my goat this guy in my group that gets upset whenever I do something that isn't lawful and good, I'm trying to roleplay a character who has been a saint all her life but also has never dealt with people getting killed on a frequent basis and constant threats to sanity and life

Like we were in a noblewoman's house and the DM described how she had a fancy tea set "like the kind you remember from back home in your parents' mansion" and when she left the room, I stole it. The guy halted the game "you can't be lawful good and steal", and I had to justify that my character's losing all grip on her identity and when she saw something that would remind her of home, she took it. The fact that the character is lawful means that she feels bad about stealing, and that under normal circumstances wouldn't, but it doesn't mean you can't ever do something bad or unlawful

thankfully the DM has my back

Pillars gods seem as flawed and human as Greek gods, but as intense and ideological as Abrahamic ones, kind of

which is a weird interesting combination

also apart from the few standard ones (god of the hunt, okay) the distribution of their various domains seems unusual and interesting. But not too weird at the same time, I think they all resonate at least with my cultural/mythological background and evoke archetypes that make sense

Plus, where we are now is a natural point to do something interesting with him and make him a Fallen Paladin (cause he started getting a bit dark, with the whole chopping of an unconscious necromancer's arm and tongue) and have him betray the party and escape.
