I think I'm up to around ~5 hours now of searching technical specs, comparing physical dimensions, watching videos of people opening up cases and replacing parts, and reading my computer's technical manual with its step-by-step instructions for how to replace any given part complete with labeled diagrams, all for a job that's probably going to take no more than 20 minutes. Woo, anxiety.

Every time I flip out so much despite never actually fucking up my computer. Well I did misapply thermal paste one time and it was really cooking itself for a bit but mostly nothing has ever actually screwed up.

It's often possible to run processors without any real thermal control. I found out my water coolers pump died because everything was suddenly super slow and the temps were upwards of 100

Has anyone considered moving all the heat from the warm places to the cold places and evening it out?

@Casual Eddy Thanks for the update. I've looked into glasses before, but I'm worried color shift...since I'm in graphic design. Although I'm sure my poorly calibrated monitor throws me off more than glasses ever would.

I forgot my card that lets me getting into work and stuff this morning after teleworking and like a butt load of appointments. So I had to go home. But thanks to traffic and the fact we have an early release anyway I was told to just telework. So I have changed from full work clothing to pajamas and watching folks play KH3 while teleworking.

I absolutely loved the Oblivion expansion where you were in the Shivering Isles, working with Sheogorath as an agent of chaos amid a population of gibbering lunatics, and the actual bad guy was Order, which crystalized everything in place forever.

    Watching the Netflix Fyrefest Documentary

    Interesting

    It was a good doc.
Showed rich entitlement to its core though which was kind of aggravating.

    I thought more telling was
the disconnect from reality that someone actually has to get shit done on both the side of the organizers and the people who didn't vet what their social media told them was possible. Also it did a decent job of highlighting the real victims weren't the spoiled vacationers but the people who didn't get paid for months of hard labor

I agree but I was mostly referencing:
The tendency to show the leader as someone who took on more than he was able to attempt to put on the show. Which holds some truth I guess but also the fact he is someone who curates his image as this kind of person rather than a ruthless scam artist which is what he really is.

When I was a young lad I really wanted to write a fantasy novel about Order vs Chaos, with the typical theme of balance as necessity, except the climactic battle would take place under a giant cosmic scale weighing the dominion of each force

The protagonist would win against the overpowering antagonist, a representative of Chaos, by making sure he is about to lose while the villain is underneath the Chaos side of the scale, so that the villain's own impending victory causes an imbalance that crushes him

I thought this was, perhaps, the greatest idea ever developed, and obviously never wrote the novel

    I use 'dope' and 'rad'

Also I'm quite fond of 'extremely' with an affected awkwardness of syntax as in 'This is extremely my shit'

Also responding to suggestions with "Into it!"

Also "Y'all" and "Folks" as gender-neutral terms of address, as is required by and DSA member in good standing.

And wish you were here by Pink Floyd came up. Not bad!

"Play Crack the Sky" by Brand New or "the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" are probable the prototypical songs

Some days Blue wonders why anyone ever bothered making numbers so small; other days she supposes even infinity needs to start somewhere.

It didn't used to bother me but then it became an obviously anti-feminist sentiment in a lot of ways in that it does not empower women for being as they are
