USB to 5.1 Optical Via Toslink?

I have a wonderful gaming laptop and a Logitech z906 surround system, and I am trying to figure out how to make them play nice together. I've researched external sound cards, but pretty much everything I can find supports only analog 5.1 out - even if one has Toslink, that's only outputting stereo. I'd love a recommendation please for a device/way to send an actual 5.1 optical output by USB (or USB-C / Thunderbolt), or failing that, a 5.1 analog solution that doesn't really suck in the reviews. I think there are other USB dac's/amps that can do what you want so I'd browse around for them.
