Nintendo's rumored plans to produce a revised Nintendo Switch model picked up steam on Thursday with a tantalizing bit of new information. Last year's rumor mill simply predicted a new model could arrive in 2019, but a Japanese report has narrowed fans' expectations based on its sources' intel: Nintendo may have a new SKU with portability and price, not power, in mind. (And the news outlet uncovered one other possible "service" to come as well.)
The report from official stock exchange news outlet Nikkei.com (helpfully translated by Nintendo Everything) cites a combination of hardware partners and game developers who all suggest the next Switch model will be "miniaturized." The resulting system will reportedly emphasize "portability" and "playing outside," and it will "cut features" to bring the retail price down.
Nikkei's report does not include more specifics, which still leaves plenty of questions about this rumored SKU. If we add up the details offered by Nikkei, though, we can guess that one of its cut features might be the removal of a bundled Switch TV Dock; this product can currently be purchased separately at an MSRP of $89.99. Cutting that combination of chipset, plastic mold, and increased box size and weight would be the easiest way to reduce the system's current $299.99 MSRP.
Also new Indie games are constantly coming to the Nintendo Switch each week and new games from Nintendo are on the horizon for this year.
Today I purchased Katamari Reroll, Wargroove, and Farm Together. That's too many games to buy on a single day.
And I also preordered some game where you play as an old lady with a little farm. It looks like an arty game which can be hit or miss but you can apparently breed goats so I'm sold.
I'm hearing lots of things I like about Wargroove, but does anyone have impressions of Dragon Marked for Death? I loved the Megaman Zero and ZX series, does it hold up compared to those at all?
Wargroove comes out the gate strong with that intro.

the fact that the TV dock retails for the same amount as the pro controller is complete lunacy. The TV dock is an inert piece of injection molded plastic with some cord outlets attached.
nuh uh it's got a whole USB hub in there, made out of platinum and gold

It would be kind of funny if the rumored "mini" was actually a mini-dock, given how much everyone is asking for that.

Single player is a slog, since stuff doesn't really get any less HP than multi it seems.

Ok, Wargroove is pretty rad. My only complaint so far is that I wish the cursor would lock-on to the nearest target when I want to interact (fight, capture, etc). I know I can just move the cursor directly onto the target, but the alternative would cut out a button press each time.

Eh?
Nintendo's been open recently to letting people use their own authentication / SSO mechanisms. Offering an SDK framework that supports that makes sense. I doubt Nintendo will let them stream games, or open up their app store or something.

Is Nintendo seriously outsourcing all of the actual 'online' functions not included in their online service?
EDIT: Though honestly if Microsoft is looking to mostly get out of the console biz but tries to create a true cross-platform online infrastructure, that would probably be pretty cool.
I don't understand will you be paying for one service? Both?
also, why bother since there are only 3 or 4 games that are cross console compatible?
I feel pretty confident in saying Nintendo's online service will not run through Microsoft's XBL infrastructure. This would just be connecting your existing Live account to get certain Live features, the way you can with your PC currently. Potentially it would let you do multiplayer in cross-platform games via XBL instead of Nintendo's online if you wanted, but it's almost certainly not going to apply to Nintendo's own games.
Like, Xbox Live isn't just the Xbox multiplayer infrastructure, it's an entire service separate from that.

Yeah this really seems more like an opportunity for MS to have their service accessible through more devices. I don’t know what this will mean for Nintendo people without an Xbox Live account.
I'm not sure how many XBL games we'll see cross-platform, as I imagine that would create a lot of weird licensing issues, to say nothing of compatibility, but if I can utilize the same friends list/profile across a bunch of devices, that sounds really good?
I would be surprised if Nintendo allowed that as it would, hypothetically, be cutting into sales they could be making instead
I doubt it will go beyond cross play and being able to use the social features of Live

This also give Microsoft a vehicle to push Mixer at Nintendo customers. Your XBox Live friends can see your Mixer streaming status and start watching your stream directly through the friends list on XB1. This is how I give my friends previews of Overwatch PTR content.
That Xbox Live stuff is just them adding the ability to log into their accounts to those platforms in a third party SDK so companies outside of Microsoft can do the same stuff Microsoft has already done for Minecraft and Wordament when it comes to cross-platform achievements and whatnot. It'll be no different than logging in to your Epic account on the Switch or your phone to play Fortnite.
Man, I want to like Wargroove but the game feels like it actively punishes you for not making perfect moves every time with the HP = damage mechanics. Struggling to get into a groove (ha) with the game.

I actually rage quit a level the other day because of that. You start with a handful of units and have to capture your way to having a base then fight a battle on two fronts and I just did not have the amount of units alive to do so.

Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
Look at this guy, with his scrubby USB hub made outta platinum and gold.
All the good switches came with artisanally crafted adamantite and mythril.
This soul system is really neat and might be the extra bit of RPG stuff I needed to make Castlevania fully engaging
The souls system was so much fun, trying for the rarer souls and testing different combos

I am VERY doubtful it would happen but also there’s some pc games you can do it with so I can dream.
