So I've been playing forza 6. Thought I was just better at this game from playing an older one. Been coming in first. Up to tell night races.
I just realized the game had been braking for me. Turned it off. I'm wrecking all over the place lol
Keep sticking with it. I'd argue that learning to drive without breaking assistance in Forza Motorsport is easier than learning how to drift in Forza Horizon.
So, this is an interesting follow-up to that bit about Xbox One controllers I posted a couple weeks ago.

I set up my driving wheel and am finding it a bit weird getting used to (not just control but overall placement relative to the TV). But pretty sure the only real assists I used in Forza2 was automatic shifting (because shifting in a controller is awkward as fuck) and racing line.
Based off the reports of the PS4 Pro having performance issues with the game I can't wait to play this on my original Xbox One and watch my console completely eat shit lol
So, I was waiting until DF took a look at the game before picking it up.
So...yeah, on Xbox One, it has quite a few issues. Really combat intensive areas can drop below 20 FPS before they return. Really, the best think you can say is....it's actually not nearly as bad as on PS4, surprisingly, where you can get long stretches of 10 to 20 FPS.
Xbox One X seems to be the place to play it on consoles. The Playstation 4 issues (on both machines) look like they might be at least glitches than be patched, because their gameplay footage for the PS4 in particular is really bad compared to XB1 (even given its higher base resolution, 900p versus 720p). So hopefully that gets better.
Just checked this out today. Word of warning, if you are expecting the entire package with Assassin's Creed III and Liberation Remastered, that is not what you are getting. Looking at the list of included items, the remasters were completely removed and, when checking out the page for the remaster, it no longer shows as included in the Season Pass. However, they have not changed the wording in the Season Pass descirption, so it still states it comes with it, even though it doesn't.
Was about to pick this up until I noticed the only reason it's cheaper is because they pulled those games.
Shovel Knight is finally getting a physical Xbox release.
There was a bunch of other SK announcements just a little bit ago, as Yacht Club Games did a Nintendo Direct style news stream.
New game: Shovel Knight Dig, a spinoff developed by Yacht Club and famous Flash and mobile game company Nitrome (hell yes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRGOF9d7yoU&feature=youtu.be
Showdown is not coming to 3DS or Vita, will be local-play only, and will be available as a standalone game like the other SK campaigns. Showdown and King of Cards are coming out in December. Also, some other new additions and extras, such as a they/them set of pronouns for the game's text, new optional cheat modes, and new character body types to choose from.
My copy of Control ought to come in tomorrow (it was mildly discounted on Amazon, and we're not getting the sequel Quantum Break deserves....), I'll report how it works on Xbox One X.
Humorously enough, it's worth noting that if you're playing this as a "Ray tracing and 60 FPS" game on PC, it also means you're playing this at probably around 720p on an RTX card. Unless you have a GTX 2080ti, and even then you may still be.
EDF!...
but that's the worst version of that game unfortunately. The Ps4 version is better and the Steam version is better still. Also, EDF 5 (with a superior Steam version) and Iron Rain have since come out.

That's not surprising, given it's an Xbox 360 version. Even the PS4 version of that game isn't very well optimized from the Let's Plays I've watched.

If my console doesn’t groan like it’s about to die while trying to render fifty giant ants exploding at once, is it really EDF?
There’s some previews floating around about Gears 5 with a lot of info that’s new to me, maybe not to people who have been following it closer. But if you want to be kept in the dark heads up. Some of the stuff sounds really exciting tho!
Fortunately, that seems to suggest it is potentially a dev kit. The Project Scorpio dev kit design being an exception, we know that all companies have put out some let's say arguably less than attractive dev kits. Sony is no exception.
I actually kinda dig that second one.
Re: Gears 5 - I got to partake in a demo session at FanExpo last weekend. It was a three-player mode where you're trying to outrun this green mist.
Never played Gears anything before, but I wound up being the last to fall.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
Yep, back in June 2016 when they first made it backwards compatible and Tekken 7 got announced.
That was shortly before I got my original Xbox One (I was late to the party) and a while before that I'd let my Gold lapse so I missed a bunch of GWGs. So it'll be nice to have that. I haven't properly played a Tekken game since Tekken 3.
A strange point about Control: no HDR support. Not even on consoles (on PC, its absence is less surprising). Kind of a mis-step in a game so dependent on (often very stark) changes on lighting. Still looking forward to getting my copy when I leave work today.
So for someone who has never played a gears game, but has game pass and access to all of them, is it worth it gameplay and story wise to start at the first game, or is there a better more recent jumping in point?

HDR
Early on in Control’s development, it was decided that HDR would not be implemented in-game. This is a decision based on the fact that development resources are limited, and we need to allocate what we have in a certain way. Moving into post launch, we prefer to use the resources we have to focus on future free content for Control like the Photo Mode. We realize this may disappoint some players, but we hope the additions we plan to bring to Control more than make up for the absence of HDR.
I'm with them, I'd much rather have new content and such over one graphic option.

The first game is pretty inconsequential, overall. It's storyline is almost entirely irrelevant to future games, aside from some stuff about the main character's backstory, but it doesn't get elaborated on at all until a later game (or the novels). It's also, by far, the roughest, gameplay-wise, even if you play the remaster. That said, it's pretty short. You could bang it out in like 8 hours or so if you really wanted to. The future games also love to call back to this one in various ways. (Character moments, bits of dialog) so it's not entirely without worth.
Gears 2 is great, has some major set pieces and important story moments, and while missing some of the refinements of later games, it's still a lot of fun. Not a terrible place to start. It also looks like story elements from this game may play an important role in Gears 5.
Gears 3 is also great, and is the end of the first trilogy of games; if you play Gears 2, you should play Gears 3 as it finishes out that storyline. It's also one of the best playing (I think Gears 4 edges it out, but it's stil good.)
RAAM's Shadow is DLC for Gears 3 and is kind of a love letter to fans of the series. It's not important to the story, but it unites fan favorite characters from Gears 1, 2, 3 and even the comics and it has some elements that are wholly unique to it despite being just DLC.
Gears Judgment is better than most people give it credit, and to the credit of the devs, they've embraced it in continuity even though it's the black sheep of the Gears family. That said, it's pretty skippable, though I've seen it suggested that some elements may show up in Gears 5.
Gears 4 is pretty good and will probably be essential for Gears 5. It also has a pretty decent prologue that gets you up to speed on the (very) broad story beats for the franchise. If you can only play one game before Gears 5, it's definitely this one as it'll introduce (or reintroduce) the important characters for that game.

That would count as TV bullshit. It's going to be axed, and I'm going to miss it, but admittedly it takes up valuable main board real estate.
Less than half what Gears 4 is!
(Seriously, I've never seen a game bloat quite like that one.)

You shut your mouth. GOW4 is a beautiful game.
Humorously enough, it's worth noting that if you're playing this as a "Ray tracing and 60 FPS" game on PC, it also means you're playing this at probably around 720p on an RTX card. Unless you have a GTX 2080ti, and even then you may still be.

I don't know what you're talking about. :P My point stands though.
Oh good, that’s a disc replaced. I actually forgot to log in and claim Insect Armageddon off GwG but... you know, not really that upset.
but that's the worst version of that game unfortunately. The Ps4 version is better and the Steam version is better still. Also, EDF 5 (with a superior Steam version) and Iron Rain have since come out.
Yeah regardless of what the FGC says about Tag 2, this month for GWG is a lot of videogame
That's not surprising, given it's an Xbox 360 version. Even the PS4 version of that game isn't very well optimized from the Let's Plays I've watched.
Didn't they already do this game?
If my console doesn’t groan like it’s about to die while trying to render fifty giant ants exploding at once, is it really EDF?

RoR 2 is on Steam Early Access, so I'd assume that it's a Game Preview game on Xbox.
