Nintendo has embraced March 10 as a day to celebrate all things Mario. (Why March 10? Because MAR10.) This year, the company is offering a pretty sweet deal to go along with the festivities: 50 percent off a Nintendo Switch game featuring our mustachioed Italian friend with the purchase of a new Switch console.
The games discounted are Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Party, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis Aces and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. The Nintendo Switch console plus one of those games will be on sale for $329.98. That’s a savings of $30, or half off a full-priced game. The deal will be available at Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart for the week of March 10-16.
Those who already own a Switch can still save a couple bucks on Mario Day; Nintendo is taking $20 off digital downloads of the Mario games listed above. That brings those five games down to $39.99, which is just about the lowest price first-party Nintendo Switch titles ever reach.
I might pick up a bunch of Mario games, I get my bonus next week
Bleh. I had read this and gone straight to pick up Mario Tennis, but it turns out European eShop just has double gold coins instead of 1/3 discount. Wankers. I imagine if I get it on the american shop from an american account I probably wouldn't be able to play online on my own account, too.
Actually you can change your account region as many times you want, and any and all games you buy will always be playable in that account. Don't even need a second account.
Ugh I thought the discount for the digital versions of the MAR10 sales are on the eshop but the sale actually applies to digital codes purchased from participating retailers (amazon, walmart, target, etc.). I tried to look for the digital download for NSMBU deluxe on amazon because I want to use my gift card balance there but it's not available for some reason, is it already over? Why can't they just have the sale on the eshop...
Yeah, Dandara has some cool ideas, but can't seem to bring it all together into something worth playing.
I just can't seem to deal with the movement when I'm under pressure. When I have to look to move and to aim my gun and you cant dodge into bullets.. It's brutal.
The music is absolutely phenomenal though.
Yeah, I felt the game never quite found the balance between combat and movement, and there are some extremely frustrating challenges as you approach the end. Maybe unfair, even, given the control/combat limitations and stage design.
But that music, the hints of the world that are present, and the core movement controls are so good, I really hope we get a full sized sequel. It’s such a great template that’s just shy of something more amazing.

This is weird. It's definitely March 10th, but I'm not seeing the discounts on those games in the Nintendo eshop. All I've got discounted is Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, which isn't even on the list.
Edit: Okay the sale is just for digital codes at certain big retailers. This is just daft, defeats half the point of buying digital.
Man, so it was around 10:30 at night and I think to myself "You know, I think I've been sold on World of Final Fantasy, lets give this thing a spin."
2 hours later I think I actually "played" the game in the conventional sense maybe 20 minutes? There was so much tutorializing and exposition dumping the Switch began dimming the screen for lack of input 4 or 5 times.
I guess I just forgot how much overhead a Final Fantasy game has before you are actually playing. Even a spin off. I probably should have blocked off a solid 8 hours to punch through it all and get to the game proper.
Just got into Portal Knights. I'm enjoying it quite a bit!
Any experience with the two player? Looks like the sort of game my Minecraft addicted 6 & 3 year olds would like.

I picked up Party, Tennis, and Kart since Kart rarely goes on sale and the other two are just fun party games. Figure it as a buy 2 get one off. I ordered them from Best Buy this morning since I forgot yesterday, they still have the sales live while everyone else is slowly going back to $59.99 retail.
Joy con colors that came with the Switch are split nearly evenly, 49% vs. 46%.
BotW vastly outnumbers the amount of time spent playing than any other game.
55% want to see more new IPs, 45% want to see more older IPs revived.
51% play mostly in docked TV mode, 47% play mostly in handheld mode, and 3% (2%?) play mostly in tabletop kickstand mode. I think this even split shows how great an idea the Switch was for catering to both markets.
Boourns, Amazon digital rebate codes for Mario U deluxe not availble in Canada. You're actually going to make me WALK, to a STORE? Don't you want my money, Nintendo?

It would probably be great for that. I'm going in as a solo experience for right now, but it does have both local and online coop (I think you can do split screen with one game, but don't quote me on that).
The combat is very simple (zelda z targeting and spamming attacks mostly) and the colors and crafting are simple enough. It's got a few odd menu quirks for crafting that I had to figure out, but otherwise is a pretty solid slot in if you enjoy Minecraft of Dragonquest Builders.
I'm expecting to get about 30 to 40 hours of poking around, building, and exploring the 40 or so stages. Which is worth it for a 30 dollar game.

Also: I have two teal joycons because my replacement for my orange apparently had switched the sides of the colors.
Everyone knows that, in development world, the last 20% takes up a majority of your time. They obviously estimated poorly on how long it'd take to port to the Switch.
Also: I have two teal joycons because my replacement for my orange apparently had switched the sides of the colors.
Wait, there are orange Joy-Cons?! I need new ones because my launch system ones are drifting, but I didn't see that on their crazy Joy-Con planogram website.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!

Thanks for saving me some money. For some reason I have very little patience anymore for games that frontload exposition and make you wait too long before you’re in the game. For instance, I didn’t even get to the actual gameplay of Wolfenstein II because of the story dump at the beginning.
(The fact that the story dump was fucking awful also assisted in my decision to quit the game and uninstall it.)
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

Given the mention of 'teal' I think he's just being weird about the red and blue basic combo.
After the Mario Day sales I noticed Starlink was 50% off on the eshop so I picked that up as well. I'm finding exploring on the planets in hover mode a lot more fun than space battles, after the intro and when they let you actually free roam space I ran into some outlaws and got shredded. Dogfighting in space felt really hard, or maybe I should stop trying to go pure vanilla starfox, arwing no parts.

In all caps.
First game I beat on my Switch.

I didn't even really like SWD1, and I still really dug (heh) SWD2.
2 is a bit more focused and a better platformer. They kind of remove some of the "survival" aspects, which I think most people appreciate.

It'll probably sell plenty of copies on Switch, just like, well, pretty much every other indie game that came to Switch late.
