Oh no. I've entered an eternal struggle of always getting stuck with a single dust particle under this screen protector and never being happy with it. I used both of the ones we got and it's still messed up. I'm gonna have to steam up my apartment to get rid of all this dust when I get more because this will drive me mad slowly but inevitably.
Good news is the games showed up. Bad news is all my HDMI ports are being used so I have to make the hard choice between steam link and Chromecast to actually play this with a TV
I'm curious if that Star Ocean is a brand new remake... or just a port of the remake they did for the PSP.
From what I remember, it was a perfectly fine game. Just... look, if you've never heard or played any Star Ocean game, you need to know of the bait-and-switch they keep pulling. It is not a grand ol' space opera. The plot of virtually all of them is you start off as a future space man who's part of a Federation, and it looks like it'll be a space opera... but then you crash land on Medieval Magic World and spend virtually the rest of the game there. Again, perfectly fine game if you're in the mood for a NotFinalFantasy. Just don't go in expecting Spaaaaaace.

I’m surprised Lunar Silver Star Story Complete hasn’t been ported to Switch yet. I think that game has been ported so many times, it might as well be a Spanish armada.
Man, I love me some Lunar. It scratches that late 80s/early 90s anime itch, and has some pretty great music.
And now I'm sad I can't play it on my Switch....

I certainly didn't enjoy any of the SO games as much as I did SC, but I at least got some varying degrees of enjoyment from them.
Till the End of Time though actually made me angry.
I remember someone I worked with at the time being … pretty mad about the ending of that one, at the time it actually seemed pretty ballsy! Well before the current glut of "people in an MMO" stories.

Seems like a remastered port. They have completely new character artwork for this version.
GUST working on a new Atelier game called Atelier Laiza. This time around they've said they recognize fan concerns that the series is getting rote, so it's going to be a near total departure from their old formulas. Not too much by way of game details yet, basic character summary is the usual descriptive anime protagonist buzz words blah blah strong sense of justice blah blah free spirit. They do run over the mechanical changes and decisions they're making with the game however, and that's where it starts getting interesting.
Spoiler'd because it's a fairly lengthy set of bullet points.
Atelier Laiza is set to be a coming-of-age story for the youths, and uses a new enhanced graphical expression that enhances the look of shadows in nature. The story scenario is co-written by Gust and light novel series Shakugan no Shana author Yashichiro Takahashi, and the character designs are by newcomer Toridamono.
...
Battles
The battle system has been completely renewed so that battles are more aggressive and will make players feel tense. There is also a new system in place which will let players feel the bonds between the characters.
Synthesis
The keyword for the game’s synthesis system is “Create”. It has been revamped to be more visually easy to understand and responsive. Rather than a tile-based grid like in recent games, it uses something like a skill tree instead.
Here are some comments via an interview with Atelier series producer Junzo Hosoi:
“Development is headed by me as the sole producer, and the game is being developed by Gust’s Nagano studio.”
“The concept of the game was created around the same time as Lulua. The game went into full production around July 2018, around the same time as Lulua.”
The concept of the game was the hopes of writing a story that showed the growth of young boys and girls, as well as “memories of summer”.
(On the subject of the revamped graphics, the reason for the more life-like graphics is because) “While the PS4 Atelier series have continued with Atelier Sophie‘s graphical look, this time it has been reconceptualized. We wanted to challenge ourselves on the visual front to be able to depict the concept of “summer memories”.
“We challenged ourselves with making character graphics with a nice balance between photorealistic and toon rendering, in a graphical quality we can create.”
“There are no romantic elements, but there are some bittersweet moments, though they won’t develop into romance. (laughs)”
“There are character episodes and side stories, but no individual endings.”
“Development of the game, to put it simply, is difficult! (laughs) The process of refining the fun aspects of the game going forward is going to be even worse.”
“We chose Toridamono as the character designer as we were looking for an illustrator who could draw appealing art, but also had their own flair and charm.”
“Laiza is overflowing with liveliness! She’s a cheery girl, though not as brash as Lulua, and doesn’t know much about the outside world.”
“Her charm comes from how she is able to simply be excited at finding out new things.”
“The other three characters apart from Laiza are her best friends, who have spent most of their time together. The story is about the growth of these friends.”
“Toridamono really focused on getting Laiza’s thighs just right. There were also some Gust staff who followed his lead. (laughs)”
“The catch copy for the game, “Bye bye, Atelier” refers to the Atelier Laiza and the others will spend their time in, not the Atelier series.”
“The story production process was done similarly to Blue Reflection, with Gust coming up with the concept, and having Takahashi-san write it.”
“In order to express the freshness of the game, we added a subtitle with keywords for the plot.”
“The music is being done by both old and new people, and is of very high quality.”
“The three main pillars that are synthesis, gathering, and battles have not changed.”
“Gathering has become a more active procedure.”
“It’s around the period where the fans are beginning to feel the games are rote and uninspired, instead of familiarity and relief, so the main core of the game is to refresh everything.”
“We don’t want to change what we’ve built up, but we do want to change the feel of the gameplay. In terms of programming, you could say that the ultimate result of our experience ended with Atelier Lulua.”
“For Atelier Laiza, we are looking to challenge ourselves in terms of the game systems, while keeping the experiences up this point, and the fun aspects that are found in the Atelier series. Various aspects of the game have evolved, so I believe this will be a game with clear differences.”
“As the story and systems have changed, some people may be dissatisfied, but we are ready to accept this. However, this is the first step towards a new Atelier experience, so I hope you try the game out.”
“I’m hoping to release the game before the weather turns cold. Current development progress is at 45%.”
I've played a few of the Atelier games, they're pretty gorgeous. The art style is always great and i'm curious to see what they could do if they stretched out a bit, expanded the game's scope some.
Oh! Any review on this one? I just hate Fortnite's building and I would love a BR that's only about the shooting on the Switch.
I played it on PS4 and could never find a sensitivity setting that didn't make the game feel awful. Something about all aspects of movement and combat is just off and it's hard to really nail down what it is.
Shame really because Paladins is pretty solid so I was hoping it would be a nice alternative to Fortnite for when I didn't want to have to deal with build fights, but instead it's just a very hollow experience.
Everyone is different. Everyone is special.

Color me super surprised. Surprised and excited.
A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.
I'm on the SO2 train here but i'm happy just to have any of those original games come to Switch.
There is nothing to my knowledge that comes as close to being a Star Trek RPG.
There's a Star Trek MMO though...

For those of you with Amazon Prime (and therefore, Twitch Prime), you can redeem your additional free 9 months of Nintendo Switch Online today (assuming you got your first three months soon as it was available).
[edit] Apparently both the 3 months and 9 months renewal links are erroneously using the same URL. Everyone is getting the "code has already been used" error.
Had a 5 hour trip up to Pittsburgh this weekend which means my Switch was used heavily. I don't always play it in portable mode but when I need it then I'm so happy that it has the ability to do it.
What triggers the -Trust% stuff with Cordelia - ACCEPTing or COMPLETing her requests?
I think it is completing her requests, since it's free money for useless items. But, since you need to do her requests to get her ending it's up to you if you want to do them or not.
Ok so I kind of hate these TWEWY joycon controls (in the first battle it disconnected and changed which one was my main pointer like 8 times before I turned it off and stepped away from the game) but when I go full handheld it feels like a waste that they don't use any of the buttons and it's just the touch controls. I don't wanna rub my greasy hands on my new console and they feel way less precise than the stylus did

Completing them does, but you should because the rewards are good, and completing them is required for her questline. The shop reputation is going to be very easy to inflate later on once you can wholesale items.
I skipped the current generation of consoles (except from the switch).
On the one hand, I would be thrilled to be able to play Witcher 3.
On the other hand, I'm somewhat sceptic of the possibility for the switch to run it without considerable technical sacrifices.
And I'm very much planning to buy a PS5 next year - which is claimed to have backwards compatibility along with really fast loading times. Maybe i would just wait and play it then?

Witcher 3 has some pretty awful load times. It's also a really good looking game. I would say to wait for when you get your PS5.
Witcher 3 barely ran on PS4 and Xbone, there's no way in hell it would be able run in any kind of shape on the Switch without a significant downgrade in graphics, or at 10 fps.
“We produced a very limited stock of Online, and the demand far exceeded our initial expectations. We were way, way off. Honestly, it wasn’t even close,” said Nintendo public relations representative Hikaru Sasaki. “We would apologize, but frankly we don’t care.”
In case anyone doesn't know this is a satirical site on the level of the Onion, only, for video games.

Get a capacitive stylus, my friend. It will be much better than getting fingerprints on the screen, but I'm warning you now nothing will ever approach the pure majestic perfection of DS TWEWY's divine control and battle scheme. Just accept it as letting the gameplay simplify in exchange for letting it look and sound as good as the game deserves. Check out that smooth-ass spritework. Plug in some good headphones. Groove out to Satisy and Three Minutes Clapping.
