Wait I thought everyone was down on and disappointed with that ghostbusters game? Didn't it also run like garbage on the unreal engine, or am I misremembering a second ghostbusters game that hit in that same gen? fake edit: It looked/ran badly on one of the platforms compared to another, I think I remember that much with textures being muddied out.
It was generally well regarded. Considered a love letter to the fans. Aykroyd and Ramis where able to expand the lore of the Ghostbusters with thanks to their copious amounts of notes.
The PS3 version did look worse to some extent than the 360 version and the PC port had some console port issues.
But the core of the game was a delight.

Damn. NIS is in the hole and this trailer for Destiny Connect does nothing to make me actually want to play the game.
I appreciate the artistic style they went for and that they went all-in on it, even though it's not what I personally was looking for. That being said though, the Switch version in particular is not especially optimized. I've caught some long form gameplay vids on YouTube and some of the world map transitions reached upwards of 20+ seconds.
I'm not going to comment on the story because my understanding is that it was targeted for younger audiences so it will be a bit basic, but there are other issues like the fact that there is no voice acting whatsoever. This is especially jarring because they made everyone so emotive and full of personality, but it ends up like watching pantomime. There's also a ton of text dialogue so you're expecting children to both read all of that because there's no narration and to not get bored out of the game in the process.
It also doesn't help that NIS has chosen to release Labyrinth of Galleria(Labyrinth of Refrain's sequel) on PS4 and Vita, but currently no plans to release it on Switch. It's like.. c'mon NIS what are you doing
That makes me really sad. Labyrinth of Refrain is a great gridder. I'm currently playing through it now.
Eh. I thought it was pretty boring. Pretty much the entire game is on autobattle, except for the fights that you can't reasonably win. Also the story isn't very good, and I stopped counting after I ran into I think four different bad endings without having any option to turn away from them.
The Wii version was possibly a totally different game, I forget the details. The art style was completely different at least, which was an admirable amount of effort. Plus I'm sure it used the remotes for aiming the proton pack streams.
Yeah, the HD Ghostbusters game was pretty dang good. Not entirely perfect, but few games ever are. Almost all the principle actors are in it. It's "Ghostbusters 3" in all but name. Don't know if I'd spend more than $30 on it, but it's cool they're dusting it off again.

Hmm I'm in the 4th dungeon and haven't run into any battles that are unreasonably hard yet. Unless you mean the trolls, which they tell you to avoid.
I love the coven idea. Stacking units into a coven to gain bonuses is a really cool thing to do.

The trolls become autobattle fodder if you come back a couple dungeons later. They're not what I'm talking about.
Conceptually the idea of building covens is interesting, but in practice I found that it's best to just take pacts with more attacker slots, at least for all of the main game. The fact that magic is tied to pacts rather than characters makes team building much more boring, IMO.

Good to know!
Honestly I've played every EO game that's been released and I normally quit about 50% of the way through. I never really feel the need to finish them and I enjoy the fuck out of them while I am playing. It just gets to a point where I'm just done with it and I move on.
Just curious if anyone in Canada has managed to renew that second 9-month subscription with the Amazon/Twitch Prime thing? I have Twitch Prime through my Amazon Canada Prime membership, and the renewal page keeps re-directing me to Amazon.com instead of .ca, so it's not picking up that I have a Prime membership. I somehow had this working because I got the 3 month portion, but it's either broken now or I can't remember what wizardry I had to do to get it working the first time.

I seem to remember the Wii one was the same as the PS2 version and a portable. The one everyone really liked was PC, 360 and PS3. The PC one was great, I really enjoyed playing through it; it was basically the third movie.

Yeah the multiplayer was really good, had a level up/unlock system based on different outfits from the various movies, cartoons, and toys. Nothing super deep, but it was quite enjoyable nonetheless.
So many people seem to shit on ports I totally have fun with. SR3, AssCreed 3, Katamari, Okami, Titans Quest, LA Noire, TWEWY, all seem just fine to me. Guess I'm just really luck that my thresholds are higher than some of y'all!

It just boggles my mind because like...OK, the team that worked on that was either 1) a Smash team or 2) a VR team, right? Obviously that's not the only thing they know how to do, but if they're the team that was assigned to this task, then it stands to reason they had experience either in working with Smash or working with VR.
If the former, why were they tasked to this instead of creating some kind of new character/stage/game mode DLC or something?
If the latter, why were they tasked to fucking Smash instead of, say, Link's Awakening or Pokemon Sword/Shield or Luigi's Mansion or something where exploration and scenery are more significant elements?
I mean, game development doesn't really work like that. They did it because they wanted to and thought it'd be interesting. It doesn't mean some nebulous DLC or other project was sacrificed.

Because Smash is already selling insanely well, Nintendo is trying to use it mainly to sell more Labo VR, by adding value to a labo purchase via games people already own. This is also a cheap way to appropriate some high-fidelity graphics for breif throw-away VR experiences, rather than asking people to spend an hour filling their SD card for an experience they are done with in 10 minutes.
If the latter, why were they tasked to fucking Smash instead of, say, Link's Awakening or Pokemon Sword/Shield or Luigi's Mansion or something where exploration and scenery are more significant elements?
None of these games are out yet. Whose to say they wont' have something as well? These are all really simple/limited experiences, its not like Nintendo can't afford to deploy it in multiple titles.
New switch question: I probably wouldn't get to them for a while but I've put some stuff on my wish list that I know I'm going to pick up eventually. Has Nintendo gotten any better at putting things on sale frequently or at putting first party games on sale at all ever?

Yep, and a bowling motion with the Nunchuk deployed a ghost trap. That's why I went for that version.
Didn’t the Wii version let you play as a female Ghostbuster? That’s probably not in this version.
And PS2, collectively referred to as the "stylized version." That was for the local co-op, which the other version (that this is based on) didn't have.
Interestingly, the stylized version was apparently Dan Aykroyd's preference.
Although, like Shepard, Robin, Corrin, etc. you can have a canon look for promotional material, merchandise, and those that can't be bothered while still offering the customization option.
I watched a video of Crypt of the Necrodancer and didn't like what I saw. Rhythm games aren't my best genre and having to constantly move on a beat would drive me nuts. I'll take a wait-and-see approach with Zelda.

The team's already adding other stuff to Smash. A stage builder came last update, and the VR update also includes a mode where you can send your Amiibo on missions to fight against other people's Amiibo.
It's kind of mind-boggling how much stuff is being added to Smash. Considering how well it's selling, Nintendo could have just stuck to the fighter DLC and called it a day.

Well nobody is saying you can't like the games. They're still great games.
The issue is that these are games that are (in some cases) over a decade old; the most recent being the 7-year old Assassin's Creed 3, that came out for hardware that is at this point 14 years old (sidenote: FUCK I'M OLD). And it both runs and looks worse on a system that is only 3 years old. That isn't, and shouldn't be, acceptable. They're rushed, shittily produced ports that were shoved out with the absolute bare-minimum done to them to just get them (barely) working, in the hopes that the companies could make some amount of money.
Quick question about Stardew Valley, which I finally fired up.
I was given a quest to go talk to people in town, and I did -- but nothing really happened. There's a tiny little ! in the right corner of my screen, but I can't figure out how to access it. Help?

If I remember right, you need to talk to absolutely everyone in town at least once, and some are well hidden in the corners of the world ("town" is nebulous, includes wizard tower).

But I also appreciate that the entire stage is rendered and that you can look all around. Something about that makes me want to try it.

And now that you mention it, Link’s Awakening might work really well with the Labo VR setup.
I hope they add the option in the remastered version but won't get my hopes up. Still an awesome game!
