So that's alot of acronyms. I have a WET 11 with firmware version 1.5.4. Roomies have a router that is a WRT54G. I need to connect the two. I was thinking I could do so by putting in the password and all that, as on my laptop it just asked for the password and set it was a WPA protocol. There appears to BE no WPA option on the WET, and I can't figure out how to connect. Am I doing something wrong, or does my WET not support WPA?
The WET11 is an older device and even with the latest firmware the best security support it has is a 128-bit WEP key. You would need a newer wireless bridge device to support WPA.
If you still want to use the WET11, you need to configure your router to use 128-bit WEP security as well. I'm not sure, but I don't believe the WRT54G supports dual security models (that is, you can't have WPA and WEP running simultaneously) although I could be wrong.
Ok, we switched it to WEP, but he gave me a 10 character key and I tried putting it in, to no avail. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? It doesn't want to connect for whatever reason.
I have a Linksys wireless bridge and it wouldn't work when I was using a WPA passphrase with spaces in it, so I actually had to use one with no spaces (or special characters, just in case). I filed a bug report, but it was never fixed of course.
