I am kind of worried that we're going to reach Winter of Esper with the new toys they're getting. It'll be "win turn 3 or not at all" with the new planeswalkers, Dovins Veto, new Tefari, it'll be a mess.

To be fair, one of the reasons kaya is good in the mirror is because once she hits the board all esper can do is vraska or teferi -3. So she can just sit there and +1 over and over.
That new 3 cmc Gideon is going to happily beat the snot of out esper.
i'm not sure dovins veto gives more to esper control than it takes away (since all of its threats get hit by dovins veto)
new planeswalkers come with new planeswalker hate cards so hopefully that will mean more options to stop teferi from running away with the game if he does come down
Shameful pursuits and utterly stupid opinions

I had the 500 Gold Dimir Cards quest...
So I popped my Dimir deck in and man.... that must have been really unfun to play against. My opponent couldn't get anything on the field past turn 2 either from having to discard or getting countered.
I deserve to be in Magic Jail.
Upside: the win got me 2000 coins. I don't think i ever got more in one game.
I'm hoping the meta shifts, a lot. I don't want another 6 months of decks defined by teferi/azcanta, chainwhirler/lava runner, and history of benalia/adanto
Amass could be a thing. That 5cmc sorc is costly, but basically ends the game vs mono red. I think that's the worst match up for grixis. However, it does just slot right into esper though.

If monored can’t end the game before turn five then they have problems anyway.

well... that's only true if the deck it's playing has something that flips the advantage on turn five, which Grixis is lacking since it doesn't have Kaya's Wrath.

I am thinking that Blood Artist Cruel Celebrant will work well in a tri-color Judith sac deck (Fireblade, Gutterbones, etc). Maybe throw in Pitiless Pontiff and Priest of Forgotten Gods.
Thoughts, opinions, suggestions?

Don't miss Mayhem Devil, Dreadhorde Invasion, and Devouring Hellion.

Interesting, especially Mayhem Devil. Hmmm. Teysa is also an option.

I think that the Mardu Aristocrats deck is being pushed by Wizards definitely. Grim Initiate, Tibalt, Lazotep Reaver and Cruel Celebrant all look like they'd be worth a look. It was a deck that never really came together in the current standard but it might have potential with some of the new cards it's getting in WAR. You also probably want Hero of Precinct One to generate a bunch of tokens. Maybe even heroic reinforcements if you want to go even more aggro. T2 Hero, T3 Judith T4 Heroic Reinforcements is a turn 4 kill and not an unreasonable series of draws.
The main question that need to be resolved is can the deck win getting to untap with Priest of the Forgotten Gods in play. A majority of decks can keep a single creature off the board so if you're depending on drawing and resolving the priest to make your deck hum then I don't think the deck has much future as a top tier deck. That doesn't mean that it won't be effective or fun but I think it's going to stay around tier 2 like it is now. Maybe the new cards will make it aggressive enough to compete with the mono-colored aggro but I'm not sure.
I think we can extremely firmly call at this point that each colour will, at least, get a god legendary. Jury's out whether they'll all be at the same cost
Really feel like people are sleeping on Grixis Control. Enter the God-Eternals is the card that pretty much shores up the only weakness that color combo had - lifegain beater vs. aggro. And both Bolas' are exceptionally strong. I mean, I'm beating Red in Arena semi-regularly with Grixis right now, and I'm not even running stuff like Moment of Craving that really shines in that matchup.
Then again, there's so many powerful cards in War, I honestly can't say what strategies will end up on top after the set hits.

I've completely dropped out of Magic the last few months. What can I say, I don't care for Ravnica or Bolas.
But now we're getting both Arlinn and Nissa in one set? OK. Fine. Guess I'm sorta intrigued. Not interested enough to start Arena back up again, but suddenly it's not unimaginable I'll start playing again.
Speaking of which, how did Gruul shake out during the second Ravnica set? Any good?
Dovin's Veto is worse than Negate due to the harder casting cost a large amount of the time. It makes it a "hard" answer to a threat, but it does nothing in defensive counter wars. Teferi I will give you, but given the amount of cheap 'walker removal in RB, I don't think he's that easy to make stick.

Gruul and Jund Warriors are pretty potent. They're fast enough to beat control (with added hexproof tomfoolery) and have some recursion if Jund, while being beef enough to stymie mono-red and usually mono-white.

SO is it going ot be a theme that every color gets a 5 cost God Legendary?
Yes (the colors at least). Of the five Amonkhet gods, Hazoret (the red one) was the only one who didn't get Eternalized, so her spot got taken by the Boar God who is native to Ravnica. The rest of the colors get Zombie gods controlled by Bolas.

RDW only cares about the game lasting past turn 4 if you can race them, you can heal out of top deck range, or you can draw counters faster than they can draw burn. Every card in the deck besides frenzy, light up the stage, and mountain does face damage the turn they draw it.
Frenzy is one of the best cards in the deck and it literally does nothing on turn 4 or 5 when they play it.

They have ritual of soot, which does the same thing but is easier to cast. The real problem is they don't have absorb or teferi or even kaya and can't sideboard in white cards or pull them with masterminds. They have to have enough early removal to stay out of top deck range and then constantly draw enough counters to stay alive.

I cast A
You cast a counterspell
I cast Veto
You cast a counterspell targeting A instead of veto

I've been misreading it then.
Thought it doubled counters on a thing.
If Proliferate was Doubling Season people would be freaking the fuck out. That would be incredibly busted.

T4 Vitu-Ghazi + Climb 20 damage face.
