The amount of musical composition that takes places before the movie has been shot, let alone edited, would also surprise a lot of people. It’s pretty tough to create something memorable when you don’t know what is going to be happening when it plays.
Even a lot of Williams tracks lose impact when played at the wrong times.
For example Lucas did all of the music editing himself for episodes two and three.
Musical compilations from specific artists tend to make more of an impact. But if it’s just orchestral track from a film composer, it tends to become relegated to background noise, since movies can’t really have any dead air.
I meant score. Like in the movie they used the theme in good ways that made it more memorable

Enjoyed the movie as a whole. Maybe went a little heavy on the quips and blasts, but the charisma between the actors was palpable. Villains were a little weak as a whole threat, but basically what was needed to set her up.
One interesting thing about the movie is how bright it is, throughout. We're used to seeing a lot of the traditional Marvel movies in cooler colors, and this was shot with a very strongly warm palette. Even in scenes where things were strongly cold blue/green/grey (most of the Kree shots), they tried to lighten things up with bright effects (everything glows!). Almost everything on Earth was vibrant.
This was really noticeable in the stinger, when Carol shows up at the Avengers - the scene has that blue/green filter over everything, and Carol looks much flatter when she shows up than she did in the entire rest of the movie, I think because of the colors.
It's a good thing they managed to make the Avengers theme catchy, yeah
I don't actually remember any other non-Spidey themes besides Avengers
Is it a Holy-Grail-kinda-thing for composers to have made a tune that becomes Iconic with a certain media property?
Its a bit more complicated. If they wanted to the composers of the MCU could have cranked out something memorable and catchy for most of these movies but a number of factors prevent that.
The biggest one right now is probably that a lot of people in the industry including many of the most well known composers are chasing this trend or ethos that says that good film score affects you withput getting noticed to much. They view the kind of grand memorable scores that John Williams and Company do as showy. Producers ask for and composers deliver wall paper music.
TBH I kind of agree, to an extent. The music in Star Wars is incredibly overbearing. It comes up less in other movies, but that series in particular way overdoes it.
if you aren't baby, sporty, ginger, scary, or posh, you have no dominion over what is or isn't girl power
I'm two-and-a-half of those and I have not seen this movie
you are absolutely more than half a baby
but I'm way less than half scary
please provide a pie-chart with your spice percentages for the thread
i just wanna loop back around to appreciating that by making it all blue, you completely eliminated the chance of a red slice, making you a liar re: ginger percentage

I forgot those two even had music
The “Across the Stars” theme from ep 2 is legit amazing and worth taking a look at outside of context. It also is musically insane. Youve got(based entirely on my memory of an analysis I read a year or more ago) elements of Leia’s theme and the imperial march.
I liked it a bunch but I kind of wish it was about half an hour longer. I feel like a lot of development time was eaten up by the side characters, who were great, but I wanted some more CM time.
+1

I enjoyed this one a lot! People are heaping praises on the cat, but I loved Talos. The youthification powers done on SLJ was amazing.
Weirdly (or, maybe not weirdly) I also had the same feeling I had when I was watching Black Panther - I am enjoying the movie I'm watching right now, but somehow there's an extra layer of enjoyment that's only accessible to women (CM) or black people (BP). Which personally is totally fine.

Legit question.

Once we get the Infinity War unpleasantness out of the way maybe Captain Marvel 2 can be as great as Captain America 2 was.

No joke, my Ginger percentage is 0

Captain Marvel spoilers
Ohh it was a personal chart ok, I get it. I'm really out of the loop re: spice girls personality tests I'm sorry.
Yeah I love that one
But I might be biased at how memorable it is since I made it my default ringtone
It's a jazz version of the main motif from the score, so yeah I think so
