I did my three legendary contracts tonight and the loot there seemed better than before the patch. RNG is RNG but three missions netted me 7 masterworks. Five of them were good/useable or new to me.
The changes to Interceptor are absolutely insane. With other setting primers I'm constantly and repeatedly setting off combos. Being able to combo off of my own primers or others while I'm spreading an aura is incredible. I also added up my +damage totals (if all by buffs line up which is most of the time) and I'm at +364% melee and +217% acid. She's a poisonous cuisinart that also heals 40% of my armor on every melee kill. The QoL change to being able to hold down my melee button instead of having to mash it is also wonderful.
NOICE. Grats man. I'm still holding out hope for one of those.
Only needing the Colossus guns for the full set is so depressing. Got the autocannon that drops below GM levels but getting the rest is slooooooow. Wish there was a guaranteed weapon drop activity like there is for abilities and components.
Nice find! I’m currently at 6/162, but only 1 of them appeared in my inventory.
So I guess it picks a random number between 1 and 162, but if it falls outside 1-67 it is not visible in game or something like that?
EDIT: A bit of Googling gives hints that there are 67 cosmetics and the rest of the 162 are crafting material bundles :bigfrown:

low sample size (3 HoR), but I think they may have rolled back the stronghold loot changes. back to the one mw ability and 3 purples it seems.
edit: maybe not, just had another 1 MW boss drop but it was a component. Could be slow rollout across servers though.
Just did a heart of rage where the monitor dropped only epics and blues, looks like it's still working its way through.
overall after doing the legendary contacts, the super-de-duper legendary mission contract and 2 stronghold runs, it feels like the overall number of loot has increased (ie trash blues/epics/embers) but the rest has been unchanged. I decided to bounce the difficulty down to GM1 as GM2 is just plain not fun without more legendary gear bolted onto me right now. That seems to be the sweet spot for me. I can still dakka it up with my Straal, and my combos actually kill things in 1-2 blasts now.
I'll take the reduced loot chance over actually having fun and feeling like a metal god of explosions and cannon shells.

Yeah I still feel so damn odd carrying a dinky looking Divine Vengeance assault rifle as a colossus simply because it has a +65% bonus to armor that's too good to pass up. I wanna carry around a big ol autocannon and grenade launcher dammit!
I have to note, that while I don't want to say to someone "this is what is fun", I've been doing GM2 with maybe 1-3 legendaries tops, and it feels pretty solid. (And note one of those 3 is ALWAYS a legendary heat sink, so...)
I suppose it's not the most efficient loot/hour math, but it's enjoyable, and I mean, that's why I'm here?
Also, I dig that challenge. The things people care about are "the cosmetics", and those are easy enough. If you want to shoot for the moon, have fun collecting all the crafting bundles ever!
About how far along am I in the story if I just met Dax and are in process of building the super component thing?

I like reading about bugs in games because it makes me wonder how they implemented the functionality in such a way that those bugs appeared. The whole loot thing has me confuzzled, since I would think that most normal and straight forward implementations of loot would make it pretty easy to guarantee certain drops put in a lower bound on the loot quality. So all I can think is that their code is really funky or they're not doing the right thing with their version-control software and old implementations of the loot are sneaking back in when people merge their code. The thing where the game boots you because it thinks your AFK makes sense as a bug that can slip through, the loot stuff less so.
Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!
the last couple of times patches borked the loot drops rates (in the “over intended” direction), BioWare fixed that in what, a couple of hours? Wonder how long the GM loot drops get patched.
Also, calling out the people who want to be showered with loot as having a “fairly naive viewpoint” seems a bit silly when you have the game devs who saved Diablo 3 out there saying the exact same thing.
This game is not Diablo 3.
You’re right, it’s not. But those devs ran a similar game and have the opinion that more high quality loot led to a better experience.
As you say, only BioWare has the full data dump to really make that determination for Anthem, so maybe making definititive statements about how naive people are isn’t a great idea.
The Diablo 3 devs ran a real money and gold auction house that completely ruined the loot cycle because instead of picking up a piece of loot and being excited about using it; you were excited to see how much you could sell it for; because you could always buy the better, actual piece of loot you wanted
The problem with leaving loot drops at such a low level is every bit of fun you have in the game is immediately followed by disappointment, which sours the experience somewhat.
No one remembers how much fun they had watching their team go 2-0 up when they conceded 3 in the last 5 minutes of the game.
It is not helped by purples basically being massively inferior so once you have basically any master works no epic in that slot is ever worth even looking at. Purples may as well be white item drops once you get a full set of master works even if they are not great ones.
I do feel kinda bad for doing that though. Taking so many of other peoples' drops p much guarantees people not being able to get all cosmetics.
Wha? everyone gets a drop when a chest is open?
Yes, if all 4 people have their key in a run all 4 people will get 4 drops. This is intentional.
Yeah I'm just confused why Bob thinks he's stealing from other people when he's not? Like anyone who opens a chest is getting what they came for.
Honestly I'm guessing the elyssian chest thing is where the bug for picking up drops picks it up for everyone in the group, I imagine they didn't want someone missing out on a chest drop so they had if someone collects it, it collects for everyone and the coding there got wanged and it applied for all drops.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I do feel kinda bad for doing that though. Taking so many of other peoples' drops p much guarantees people not being able to get all cosmetics.

You need a specific 67 out of 162 possible drops.
Expected number of drops required to get all 67 is somewhere around 160 and a half. Seems really high at first glance, but if you think about it chance of 162nd drop being your last cosmetic is 67/162 (~40%), second to last drop being last cosmetic works out around 20%, etc. Simulate it yourself a bunch of times to check if you want.
160 drops in the 40 days til reset is 4 per day.
Max number of drops available is four per character per day. (You get 1 key per day, if you open a chest with it with a full squad four items are dropped.)
Taking significantly more than 3 times the number of your own keys you use leaves some people fucked.
Some people seem to be under the assumption it takes far fewer chest openings to get all the cosmetics. It does not.
It is not a case of 67 keys, 67 unique cosmetics, then crafting materials thereafter.
It's a uniform random draw from a pool consisting of 67 cosmetics and 95 bundles of crafting materials. You don't get duplicates (as in you'll only get whatever reward 130 is once, a lot of crafting material things are the same) but it still takes an awful lot.
Is this worth finishing a push to level 30 and the campaign?
Yeah it is. Trying some masterworks stuff in whatever javelin you enjoy is fun. Only really gets grindy feeling when you have a decent number of them and getting something new or better versions of what you have is super hard.

Sorry, I meant is it worth pushing to get the Elysian Cache stuff? I'm playing the game off and on w/o pushing because the achievements are still broken.
Are there any screenshots of the cosmetic awards out?

I'm finishing up a few other games but I'm probably gonna hop on this weekend. Want to try out all the balance changes.
I’ve gotten 5 drops so far, the game bugged when the first run ended, so I have no idea what those were, but I ran a solo stronghold later and one guy had a key. It was a fabric, which I’m vastly more likely to use than a decal! (You’ll have to pry my N7 vinyl from my cold, dead hands)
But it’s not in my inventory! Which is a known issue! Oh BioWare.
What I wish they did with Legendaries was to follow something like DotA2’s path. Don’t just have them be slightly more powerful and rolling from nicer stat pools, give them modified appearances. Auras/glows. Unique particle effects when firing. That kind of thing.
I’m sure that’d be a ton of work. I’m not expecting it to be a high priority over fixing tons of bugs (old and new alike), but I think there’s some room for keeping power and aesthetics mostly separate, but with the occasional element that’s badass enough to cross over and do both.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

The general consensus with the Elysian drops not showing up is that you have to log out and log back into the game and they should show up in your forge. I had two drops and only one showed up, and logging fixed the issue for me.
I think it’d help reduce confusion if the list of possible rewards indicated that something had been received right on it. If it’d said as much in the list, it might have been a bit clearer that it had actually unlocked, even if I couldn’t find it yet. I still have no idea what the other 4 rewards were.
Doesn’t look like they were emotes, materials, or vinyls, so I guess they were crafting materials. But that really shouldn’t be something I have to figure out by process of elimination.

Lunchtime trip report from a legendary contract with the new Flippyboi “eternal Flying Leg Kick” kit:
I was literally unsure where I was physically located relative to the map or other players most of the time. I was standing in the middle of so many particle effects that it slightly degraded my frame rate, and I would just mash L1 over and over until I started seeing “No Target Found”.
I fired a gun one time and only because I thought “I should try and nab the bronze weapon master feat I guess?”, but only partway through my first mag I said “nah, this is boring” and tapped L1 to fly across twenty meters of open ground, back arched, eyes closed, Kickin’ leg wound up like the mainspring on the fastest, meanest, lightning-est windup toy Bastion had ever seen.
can anyone explain how the interceptor's aura combo actually works? Sometimes I just whack a primed guy and boom the aura pops up, but other times it seems to just... not happen

My guess is it has to do with understandable confusion over the icon simiultanously meaning “suffering from effect” and “primed for combo.”. So for example, an enemy can get hit with an acid effect and have that effect detonated, but still have the icon even though that effect can no longer be detonated. It’s something far down on the list of things i hope they improve. Change the icon to show when a combo is available.

Upgraded impact lazer, which was part of my current build so that's cool.
There were also green and blue drops in those GM2 quickplays but I didn't pick them up so can't complain I guess...

Also, it rolled with +250% damage to the gun
It's....a monster. I was hitting for 20,000 damage on enemies a few times.
The name of that gun with your rolls on it make perfect sense.
And I played this morning on my interceptor holy shit the buffs to sudden death are god damn devastating.
