Get your King Engine roaring, because this is the thread to talk about One-Punch Man. Season two premieres April 9th on Hulu: here. Based on a manga based on a webcomic, season 1 was popular enough to get the 2nd green lit amid immediate clamoring for more.

If you haven't watched this, Season 1 is great! Saitama's fights are seriously things to behold.

This thread is a privilege that can revoked at any time if it gets too weird, so keep discussion to Saitama and the other rad heroes punching out giant monsters in gloriously animated goodness, while lampshading superheroes in hilarious fashion.

    My understanding is it's a scheduling thing: They wanted Season 2 in 2019 and the original studio are working on something else, so they changed studio rather than schedule.

    My inclination would be to want the latter, frankly.

    Viz put the One Punch Man manga on their website so I've been reading that. It's really interesting seeing just how much the story has been expanded from the webcomic version. The thing I'm most interested in seeing where it goes right now is
    Orochi. At first I wasn't big on him but the recent reveal that he's a parallel to Garou and the emphasis that Gyoro Gyoro is the real one in charge has turned me around. Seeing him actually fight was pretty sick too. Since he wasn't in the webcomic at all I'm so curious as to what his involvement is going to be.

    My understanding from folks who have watched the actual episode is that it's average. It's not Berserk 2018, it's not horrid, it's just....not anything special. Which is, unfortunately, a huge step down from the first season.

    That OP is rather unfocused. Feels like it's padded with the parade of heroes and isn't really selling any of them to us. Also I think they use the Serious Punch animation from the Boros fight?

    I liked the episode, OP aside.
    Going into King and his deal, in addition to updating us on Genos' actual plot and the first arc(?) wasn't bad. It was table setting, which I don't have a problem with.

    Yeah that would end it with a big fight scene and an emotional climax. The only other big "Saitama Punches Someone" moment they could end on would be against Elder Centipede, but that feels more like setup for the next arc.

    It was good, with the caveat that most of the actual fighting in the episode was mostly off-screen.
    Genos gets to tear into a strong robot, but the meat of the episode was Saitama chilling out with King at his place.
