Interview went well
And by interview I mean we chatted for an hour about all sorts of city-related, policy-related, and public finance stuff
So I think I maybe got this one
It's unpaid but supposedly my program is good about giving funding out for unpaid internships, plus I'll be applying for a very generous fellowship that is meant for local government management and finance work.

Man It's gonna suck when your name has to be purged from this place so you can run for office, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the long run.
I'd think that'd screw with the forums pretty badly. Another forum I was on a mod deleted the entirety of their posts and it messed things up bad. Wrong pages, links going wrong, so much instability

I don't ever plan on running for office. This is mostly because it gets me a ton of hands-on experience working with a large city (1 million people within the limits) and its large budget ($4 billion).
I find it weird whenever someone here complains about microwaving fish in the break room. Like, it's not that big of a deal. Maybe because it's because it's far from the worst thing I smell all day. Also the high Asian population at work means we microwave a lot of weird shit in the break room, including fish.
If someone stole my food at work though I would crucify them.
yeeeup. We're at about $2.30NZD/litre right now for regular/91.
if we're lucky we get a 6 cent/litre coupon from the food shop.
Luckily since we drive minimally, we're really only filling up the car every 3-4 weeks.
This is what I was doing when I had a car walk/ride my bike to work {it's only a little over 2K} but riding my bike to get groceries is an affair I do miss having a car but with the talk of how it's sliding into the ideal of a community car I have been asking some of my co workers how much do they use their car outside of work?
Well I no longer have an ear infection but my ears are both pretty blocked, so now I’m going on a different medication for that! Hooray for lateral moves!
+1

So around a year ago, my coworker (who I am fairly good friends with) came up to me and kind of jokingly teased me that he had found my forum account because I use the same handle as I do for my work Twitch account. Which is cool. I got nothing to hide.
But I let him know that a few months prior I had found his old livejournal account.

minor incident on
if this is how you folks make art it's fucking depressing
First day of orientation over. All in all, was a nice day. Even though I now personally know the hell that is the I-5 North during rush hour traffic. Two straight hours to get back home, and I gotta do that drive six more times before I actually start my work schedule of 0700-1530.
Orientation wasn't much for me though because I came from another state agency and I already know all about things like situational awareness and not being stupid around inmates, though they're patients here but no less dangerous. That's not to say everyone is in danger around them, but it's a mental hospital and the staff does need to know the possibility exists and how to mitigate it from actually happening. To help with that we got fancy little personal alarms. Activate it anywhere on grounds and it's going to light up everyone else's alarm with an alert and text message stating your name and exactly where the alarm was triggered, right down to the room if inside a building, plus the police will see your location via GPS in real-time. It won't help prevent an incident, but it will help to resolve it waaay faster than the CDCR method of dumb alarms that just go off with lots of noise but no way to tell who pushed their button.
Apparently people outside state service don't always handle this information well though. Heard that one person just didn't come back after lunch in a previous orientation session.
So my good class, we have an assignment due tomorrow night but I haven't gotten a chance to get to it yet. So earlier tonight I sat down, installed the Virtual Machines he wanted us to and got ready to do some pen testing...except I can't log in to either of them. One is a Linux based system called Metaspoitable and the other is Windows XP. Both have pretty standard default passwords and Metaspoitable straight tells you the username/password. But after 2 fucking hours I can log in, I tried everything, even did some online research, nothing. Finally I email the professor. He just got back to me "Oops yeah I did change the defaults for a lab in the future...but no one else in the class mentioned it." an hour later "It appears no one else has turned it in and since your the first one emailing me, might be the only one to work on the assignment so far."

Nope, closest place is Tacoma for urgent care, unfortunately.

That's awesome. Does it have paneling so it's closed off? Otherwise it's useless half the year here in MN.

Now I'm trying to figure out how "Which of the following" interacts with, "None of the above." I think I need a judge's ruling.

Sure you are, lunch box.
