I'm sitting on 900 gold right now and about 15 packs away from the pity timer. Figure I'll get there if I open the my 3 extra free packs from daily quests, the Brawl pack(s), and the single-player stuff (15 packs).
Just finished up my Brawl (4-3) and opened my pack:
I can’t get out of rank 10, im losing every other game to absolute nut draws.
Example, against mage:
Turn 4 Mountain giant, I clear it
Turn 5 Mountian giant. I get to to 3 health
Turn 6, it hits face, out come the twinspell that summons two copies of a same health minion, 2x Grave Horrors.
I brawl with 2 minions on my side, one horror lives.
Turn 7: splits the grave horror into 2x with the other half of the twinspell, plays messenger raven
Turn 9: coin discovered Kalyagos. I clear it with second brawl.
Turn 10: 2nd Kalyagos comes down, Luna’s Pocket Galaxy for free.
Every other game is some hot bullshit like that. If it’s not then getting that lucky, it’s me playing Maly hunter and having my first 3 draws be, in order, Maly, Alex, and jepeto.
Let's check in on VS Live and see how the early meta is shaping up.
Class Populations:
Hmm, that sure is a lot of Warriors and Rogues. But is it deserved or just bandwagoning?
Class Tier List:
Well, Warrior and Rogue probably deserve their playrate then, but Druid is a bit of surprise. Is there a low popularity but powerful Druid list? And Hunter is nearly as good as Rogue is.
Class Matchup Chart:
Ah, Druid and Hunter are good against Warrior. Druid appears to have a strong matchup spread overall while Rogue struggles against Warrior, and Hunter struggles against both Rogue and Druid.
So what Druid list is so strong here? Token? Malygos? Most Bomb Warrior lists are running 2x Warpath and Brawl so I'd be surprised if tokens were causing them too much trouble, unless Token can just generate so many boards that they exhaust the removal. Could it be Jepetto and Alex + Malygos capitalizing on the relative lack of lifegain in Bomb lists? Or maybe there's some other aspect to it like Druid lifegain from their new heal cards and general armor generation that is proving resilient to bombs.
On turn 4 I prep a sap on his 3/3, bloodsail + dagger to kill his two drop, play coin and... can't play Edwin. Disconnected.
Get back in the game on my opponent's next turn. Coin is gone. Edwin still in hand.
I guess it's hypothetically possible to have more frustrating timing on a disconnect, but it would be difficult.
Also the hearthstone app has an annoying habit of crashing my podcast app at the precise moment it finds an opponent to play against, so I can't close it and restart without forfeiting the game.
i've still got like 27,000 because i dusted everything wild in time for HoF profit
i'm thinking of crafting malygos and jepetto, chiefly for spell hunter - i only opened vereesa and it seems like my style in this meta. might try it with witches cauldrons for extra burst
If you have the cards for it, I heartily recommend trying out Malygos Hunter
It's a hoot, here's an example of a good roll:
I loaded the list and realized "oh hey I'm literally only missing vereesa" so now I'm exploding bomb warriors
I had all the legendaries so ofcourse my first game made sure I drew them all before turn 6.
Other then that, it blows up opponents before I do, so having fun!

Pretty sure it’s token Druid. Once they stick one board you’ll never get it back. Brawl can even be too late the deck can be that fast. Aggressive mulligan for warpath recommended.
i really like malygos hunter, but idk how the matchup with bomb warrior is. is it good?
it seems like it would be good, but all the bomb warriors moved further up the ladder, or they play during the day?
i haven't seen anything but pilfer rogues and mech hunters at r15-13 right now.

Good versus control but a more aggressive warrior turns it unfavourable for the hunter.
Of course I spend ~2500 dust crafting (most of) bomb warrior and then I get matchups like Mech hunter, which it turns out is pretty good against bomb warrior. It can apparently make a shitpile of 7/7 whelps, and Dyn-o-Matics are pretty shitty when almost everything your opponent plays is a mech. Later game Trackings can also eat bombs, as noted before.
I really should dust my wild cards. I practically never use them except for the odd tavern brawl, but i dunno. I just hate the idea of losing so much value you know? You press that disenchant button and 75% of the dust value is gone. But then, i never use the cards anyway soooo
you can always just keep the good ones around, if you play wild sometimes or wanna use them in occasional brawls
there's a lot of junk cards out there
Yeah you are right, I dont have to dust the entire wild collection. There probably is some good dust cards to be had in there that I'll never miss

lol this control warlock made the cutest play i've ever seen, augmented elekk + double plot twist to give himself something like 40 cards
what he SHOULD have done was play bertrugg + plot twist and killed me
instead he tried to rafaam twice to remove the bombs in his deck and then proceeded to lose because he had no control cards any more and his deck was full of shitty legendaries

Built Murloc Shaman for my first deck this expansion and boy it is fun to just be able to rebuild your board instantly with Angler.
Twice I had it give me a backup Angler and also one extra Scargil in my first game. The mage I was playing against Well Played me before clearing my board with a spell a couple times, then shut right up as I continued to bounce right back into my third and fourth board fills.

I've been playing around with mech deathrattle hunter and while I'm sure my list is nowhere near optimized it is very fun. Ursatron alone seems to be plenty of card draw, especially if you get extra deathrattle triggers.
Fun fact - the "put a second copy of the spell in your hand" part of twinspell is duplicated by Zul'jin, meaning you get an copy of (non-twinspell) Unleash the Beast in hand after playing him.

Also, expensive decided as it is, I kind of want to give Big Shaman a try?
Big Priest was my jam before Barnes and Y'Sharrj rotated, and with Muckmorpher that deck looks fun as well.

i've been outlasted by a control shaman several times as bomb warrior, especially anti-control versions with hecklebot and saboteur
big bad archmage + stone fountain + eureka/muckmorpher to drag them from hand/deck + ancestral spirit/big bad voodoo to make them impossible to clear is just absurd amounts of value
it's probably one of the most expensive decks i've seen outside of classic 2014 wallet warrior

The one I am looking at right now, I have to spend 3.8k dust to finish. Basically, a ton of epics I don't have.
I elected not to throw down $ for this expansion's preorder, but I am excited to play again. I have 8800 dust to spend, plus I might grab that 10$ bundle.
What are some emerging fun but not super expensive decks?

I've played the Big Shaman Whizbang deck a couple times now and it is a delight to play. I don't know how it feels on the receiving end, though.
Probably frustrating.
Also, I can't wait for them to HoF Malygos next and then continue to not rotate Classic.

Token druid seems strong. Missing a crystalsong portal but still 5 - 0 at rank 4. Low sample size, though.
Hm, maybe I'll try Token druid tonight. I think the only major thing I'm missing (from the deck I'm looking at on HSReplay) is Keeper Stalladris. How crippled is the deck without him?

Mechathun priest is still possible, it's just the old list is gone and the new ones are worse, especially since bomb warrior will wreck anyone trying to empty their deck

i crafted a few legends and epics to make priest/hunter/eureka shaman, so i'm down to a mere 20,240 dust
I’ve crafted Jepeto, the new Windrunner, blastmaster boom, nozwhisker, and a few old epics I didn’t have.
