The warp point sequence against the digger machine ahhhhhh this game is Game Of every year since Ghost Of Tsushima ahhhhhh that was amazing!
The best thing is you aren't even at the best parts! It's such a good game.
I felt like maybe I should have checked wiki to make sure Platinum Games didn't consult on this or something that was like the tower run in revengeance when Raiden sprints up the building.

At a certain point, Koboh gets fucking serious.
Fucking crawling with Imps. I was running around when I got jumped by a walker and a K2, and then a stormtrooper patrol rolled on up to join the fight.
At least they get into fights with the raiders and battle droids.

Early Force power spoilers:
Confusion really should give you xp for kills by a confused subject. That it doesn't diminishes the effectiveness of maxing the skill out. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.

I forgot it existed eventually.
It's actually really good at high levels and can do some cool things later on but there's other force powers that also do cool things and they actually give you exp for using them.
Edit: I mainly use it now to distract tough enemies so I can whack them while they're focusing on everyone else.
The second fight with Dagen felt really unpleasant and unsatisfying
The fact that he has complete armour on all his attacks and can't be staggered out of them (unlike most humanoid enemies) means you have to be passive and reactive, and I had to force myself not to ever initiate attacks except in very specific windows after his combos, because he'd just armour through them and punish me
In general I dislike humanoid boss duels where they just no-sell your attacks instead of engaging with the mechanics of combat in an interesting way (like blocking or parrying you themselves!)
He also had a very fast unblockable followup to his dash that was reasonably consistent but demanded more focus and reflex speed than any other unblockables I've seen so far, which is fine but often nailed me as I waited for a window
I only died once but both attempts involved a lot of stim uses, and I didn't feel like it was a cool lightsaber duel with back and forth — it felt like a grind
First fight where I really felt the extremely poor visual and audio feedback for parries actually hampering me. I couldn't tell when I was parrying vs blocking.
I've also been having trouble with the Bedlam smashers because their big overhead AOE attacks seem... impossible to avoid? They're unblockable, so you can't block or parry, but the AOE always gets me if I jump or dodge or double dodge — I don't know what you're supposed to do to avoid these attacks. Their shockwave attack you can jump over (as opposed to the bubble) if you're far enough away, but if you're too close it seems like an autohit as well, because jumping gets you tagged by the hammer.
Crossguard stance is Elden Ring mode but the enemy speed is still based around the faster stances and you just get hit out of your ultra-slow swings. At least at first... maybe the upgrades are good or maybe the playstyle is just too different but it seems really niche for how this game's enemies actually work. I am actually using it though against my better judgment because it's super weird and challenging and at least the damage is very very high.
Darth Maul mode feels too mandatory for certain enemy groups, reflecting a ton of blaster shots at once is way too good when it actually comes up. Overall this stances makes me dislike the two-stance loadout mechanic as it feels like you are just going to get punished eventually if you're not doing Darth Maul as one of your stances.
Blaster stance is extremely OP, enemies are MUCH worse at guarding the blaster bolts and it'll often give you free knockdowns or damage on some of the tougher enemies and even if they guard it it still does stance damage AND this is completely safe from range. Just unloading your clip into a guy is a legit strategy and there's very little downside to the stance, you can still block/parry and melee people just fine.
Game should let you carry more stances as some of the more niche stances like single-blade and crossguard are more interesting to use but you do end up feeling punished for not having the OP stances.
(All notes are on Jedi Grand Master difficulty)
E: I do prefer single-blade for the straight up lightsaber duel boss-fight and I feel that much is intended at least. Dual wield is about as good in theory but if using it to constantly swing it is harder to see the enemy's tells, and the timing windows on single blade are plenty generous for most fights anyway as long as you aren't just mashing. This was before I had blaster stance though sooooo we'll see if that sticks.
Just going to note as well that I did most of the horde mode tear in blaster stance because mashing triangle for blaster shots kills aoe packs faster than darth maul spinny spin aoe spins. It is *incredibly* strong.

Yeah when you get the aoe upgrade to blaster shots and pointblank one pointblank shot can damage or kill a whole group.
Blaster Stance is legit a great time and for the third game they better fucking have it!
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

I'll bet all the stances return, though maybe with some tweaks. Personally, I'm hoping for:
-3 equipped stances, at least. I get forcing the player to pick what they focus on, but 2 is just too limiting given the variety of enemies and tactical scenarios.
-Moves to seamlessly change stances. Maybe increase posture damage for that attack, to encourage the player to switch things up during combat.
-Lean into Single-Bladed's versatility. Throwing an idea out there: let you equip a move from another stance like you equip Charge Shots for Blaster. For extra coolness, have the equippable move be unique to Single-Bladed.
-The companion attacks in this are neat, but it's an underdeveloped mechanic. Let the player pick a companion to follow them, even outside of story missions, with a more robust system of combining with Cal's attacks. And this should 1,000% include BD.
Yeah a lot of the stuff here feels test bed again. I'd love for you to have transition moves like how the lightsaber combat was in fallen order. Like empty your blaster to transition to a crossblade block to a double saber follow up.
Like one of the enemies does...

Crossguard is great for big enemies because the square hold attack can stun them. It's an excellent way to safely chip away. And it tears through guards. You have to wait for openings though, but it has huge stamina so you can safely just block. I don't use it alone, I pair it with another stance that makes up for its deficiencies and stance switch to it when there's an opening or big enemy to fight. I never use single saber.
Also on the highest difficulty.

I was watching a streamer lose his mind because he was near the end of the game but refusing to use anything but crossguard and only just swinging no force or anything else and he was whining about the combat and I was thinking "well when you restrict your toolkit to literally one peace yeah I'm sure you'd think its bad when you meet that pieces scissors to your paper."

Do this like they did for dual sabers in Fallen Order. Shoulder button + action button, with each action button doing a move from a different stance. So like shoulder button + Y/triangle does a heavy Crossguard attack, shoulder + X/square does a quick dual saber attack, etc.

Crossguard was my favourite stance and I used it for 90% of the game, but you easily benefit from changing stance often and by the situation. The more flexible you are the more fun the combat is IMO.

That's my thought like I don't think it was designed around staying in one stance (aside from BAE blaster) because they all literally have their plus's and minus's aside from again blaster which is the best.

Anyone on Xbox and played after the new patch? Has it improved things regarding frame rate and bugs?

When I was doing collectible hunting the other day it didn't crash once when I was fast traveling everywhere.
That made my life vastly easier than it was on my initial hunt.
Also note that you don't need many unique seeds at all to fully expand the garden. In fact, it doesn't even really care what you shove in there as long as you're planting things.
Same, I have no idea how people blow through this game so quickly. I have so much shit to do, and I want to do it all.
Like this weekend I'm probably going to use my free respec to fuck around with some new stances. I'm enjoying the hell out of cross guard and saber staff but I want to mix things up. Maybe something really different, like dual saber and blaster stance.
I wish single saber were better. I get it's meant to be vanilla, but it's a classic and all the others are so neat it feels bad the iconic dueling-inspired style was left in the dust. I don't know how I would make it better, but I would have liked something that made it stand out a bit more.
That is a very minor complaint about this fantastic game that's completely got its hooks in me.

It took me 50 hours or so to get platinum. A perfectly cromulent amount of time.

Honestly I don't get how it works
Half the time I can't mind control bog-standard stormtroopers, they have the same "can't be mind controlled" icon above their head that legendary enemies have, I don't get it. I'm not gonna put points into something that works one time and doesn't the other for no explicable reason
As spoiler-free as possible, roughly how far through the story am I?
The Quest log says I'm still in Chapter 3, I just handed the two broken Plot Devices off to Jedi Master Bra'tac and went off with my witch girlfriend to save some people.

How did you deal with bedlam smashers (big hammer guys)? Their overhead AOE is still free damage against me and I haven't figured it out yet. There must be a way to avoid it.

Hit the preview button on the workbench and then scroll to that stance. In preview mode you can zoom the camera in and out.

Also, the point blank blaster shot parry can apparently parry red non-parryable attacks.
Does it cancel the non-parryable attack, or "just" do damage and you get hurt afterwards? If the former, then hoooly....

Also if doing side content the game is pretty long. You gotta be putting in some truly wild hours to get everything done this quick haha.
That's Earth religions. In Star Wars believing in your hokey pokey mystic mumbo jumbo gives you super powers.
I do wish the game would do the thing Metroid Dread did that highlights parts that you can't access with bc you don't have the specific move.
