I have one IN MY CART on the Target website, and all my payment info is saved, but the "Place your Order" button is greyed out.
I've got a cart number, so hopefully I can hang onto my virtual goods for a few minutes.

Got one in my cart to pick up at Target tomorrow, was fully logged in, ready to go with payment....and their payment system would never take my money. Now it's unavailable. Womp womp.

Same here, I havent actually seen a single person say they got one though, and I was ready and going through checkout before anyone even announced they were up

My attempting to get a PS5 adventure continues. I had half a dozen tabs open to different stores tonight, and all of them either didn't let me checkout or went from coming soon to sold out instantly between refreshes. I was sitting in the Sony store queue for an hour and when my timer hit 10 minutes it jumped back to over an hour. After another hour of waiting I fell asleep and after waking up 20 minutes later I saw that I'd just missed my queue window and they were ACTUALLY IN STOCK if I'd not missed it.
I lucked out and got one from Sony. I got in the queue hours ago, left my machine on, was about to go to bed when a saw a new Wario64 tweet, checked my machine just as the queue ended. Hopefully Sony’s shipping is reasonable fast.
I usually don’t care about launches but I dunno it’s 2020 and think we all need this. Good hunting everyone.

I also had a major WTF moment when I got to the 15 minute mark... and then the wait jumped back to over an hour. By what I can figure, I definitely would've gotten one if the stupid fucking wait hadn't leapt back up for no reason.
All I can figure is that there was some bot fuckery and they forced their way past the wait, sucking up the inventory and forcing everybody else back in line.

According to Wario64, Sony says they will have another batch on Sony Direct tomorrow. Plus the Wal-mart drops. Also no word from Best Buy or Amazon yet, so you may get lucky there.
I JUST got an email from Best Buy saying my PS5 shipped. It says "arriving today" but that doesn't seem realistic considering it really just looks like they created a label thus far.
Well, at least it's on its way.

I've pretty much given up, gonna try a few more times times tomorrow and then who GAF. Really though fuck Target for being well aware of the scalper/bot problem and STILL doing nothing about it.
Got that PS5! Too lazy to set it up right now though.
I lied. Set it up to get things downloaded. Big oopsie though. Set a few things to download, and jumped into Spiderman Remastered (not Miles). Poking around in the options menu and the game froze. Tried to close it but the console stopped responding, period. Had to unplug it, which caused the storage to rebuild.
Not to fear-monger or spread FUD just yet, maybe just a fluke.

I think I've pretty much resigned the idea that I have even a remote chance of getting a PS5 without either a) some idiotic massively-overpriced bundle or b) the profit floor falls out for the scalpers so they stop swiping all the stock with bots.
Only time I've even seen one in stock on a website was a few brief minutes on the Gamestop site with the absurd $800 bundle, and no fucking way I buying that.

These console releases have turned into absolute jokes.

Yeah, probably not worth taking their estimate at face value.
I got a similar email twelve hours ago and my tracking status is still "Label Created." They'd said it was arriving Thursday, but it looks like they just changed that to Friday.

The sad thing is that I'm also looking to build a new gaming PC in the near future and at least seeing a PS5 in stock, even in a dumbass bundle, is infinitely better than trying to get a 3080 so far. I'm doubting new 3080s are even getting built, but at least I know new PS5s are at least even out there and some might even be going to people instead of greedy sleazebag scalpers.
And retailers aren't going to do a damn thing to combat the bot issue. For them, a sale is a sale and anti-bot measures cost money. They'd far rather sell a thousand consoles in seconds that sit in the garage of some asshole scalper than have that same inventory sold to actual customers over a few days.
EDIT: But hey, this is the price you pay when you bother to actually wait for information on a system before taking a risk with north of five hundred dollars on a preorder. I'd rather wait than get burned by a bad system.

Building systems for these kind of mass rushes on an item are just not cost effective, for any retailer. It's not as simple as people think it is and it's tech you'll use a couple times a year, if you're lucky, for a few days or weeks at a time...but for 99% of your sales is R&D dollars badly spent. I think Walmart has the best option we're going to see, which is several product drops throughout the idea. Even "one per household" systems are easily defeated by the competent bot systems these days.
If it was an easy problem to fix, engineers would fix it...but it's not. Especially during a time when the demand is probably the most extreme we've ever seen in our lifetimes. I get that it's frustrating, I'm right there with everyone trying to get one...but as someone who builds big scale software for a living I'm also keenly aware why a Target or a Best Buy doesn't invest big R&D dollars in a solution.
I’m more angry at Amazon and eBay hosting resellers. Amazon especially profiting twice, selling to bot resellers and then getting money from the resale. Essentially double dipping
People say there’s nothing legally they can do, but that’s bs, the companies can put a hold on reselling any product they want, they just don’t want to
Also it’s pretty crazy to see adds for PlayStation 5 on tv in Australia when every store is sold out for at least 4 months, if not more. “Out now” my ass

I agree that the third party marketplace issue is the more fixable, and more scummy, issue.

So, I ended up preordering two Xbox Series Xs back in September. One from Best Buy, one from Microsoft.
The Microsoft one shipped on 11/3 and was held at the local FedEx warehouse until this past Tuesday (11/10). It arrived without issue.
The Best Buy one updated to shipped on Monday (11/9) and their website said "arriving tomorrow (11/10). When it finally showed up in the UPS system, Best Buy kept saying "arriving 11/10" while UPS said
"arriving 11/11"
Today they both finally got in sync - it is arriving later today (11/12).
Obviously I don't care that much since my second XBSX is just going to sit in a corner until I figure out why the hell I kept both preorders but that said, I'm very hungry for the PS5 and I basically don't expect it before Monday at this point based on what happened with the Xbox Series X here with Best Buy. I'm really sad. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I was really hoping to mess with the PS5 in particular this weekend.

I have noticed a PS5 on eBay for 900. I did try and report it for scalping but no option for that sadly.
I never got a pre-order locked in, but a close friend of mine got 2 just in case one of his friends got fucked and is covering me after I venmo'd him the amount, apparently both his Best Buy one and his Sony Direct one are supposed to show up tomorrow, and he promised to drive up and drop off mine to me as soon as it arrives (he's a very good friend).
Also my Miles Morales preorder was upgraded to "arriving tomorrow night", so I might have an actual PS5 game to enjoy instead of just finally playing Ghost of Tsushima without being distracted by my PS4 sounding like it's trying to achieve orbit.
So far I very much like my PS5. Finished all the Astro levels (but not all the collectibles), I'd say the haptic feedback is a solid upgrade from HD Rumble in the Switch but probably not the game changer some reviewers have hyped at as. Also got a few hours into SM:MM and geez it's gorgeous.

I left my Target browser open overnight. First thing I did when I woke up this morning was to check it. They had removed the PS5 from my cart, and auto refreshed the page. The page that last night was showing that I had a PS5 claimed and ready to purchase was now showing empty.
That feels to me as if I *did* have one reserved, since their autocleanup system removed it. But their stupid website never let me across the finish line. I was just sitting there, PS5 in cart, money in hand, and the purchase button was greyed out. Ugh. So frustrated. This is 2020. We're living in the future. How is digital shit like this still so fucking stone aged?

Worth the extra cash? That is one game I'll happily 100% again.
You can do a performance mode that runs at 60 fps or a fidelity mode that is 30 fps, but has stuff like ray tracing and 4k.
IGN did a comparison video of the game opening.
