Bungie has just announced the release date for the eagerly anticipated Halo 3 for the North America and Europe.
North American gamers will be able to play the game September 25, 2007, two days into the originally projected "Fall 2007" launch window. European gamers can expect the game the following day, September 26.This announcement comes on the eve of the release of the Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta for those gamers who bought Crackdown earlier this year.
This September should be an interesting time for Microsoft, with the previous two installments of the series being million selling hits.
My girlfriend will not see me for a week, and I'll probably fail all my assignments that month, but oh, will it be worth it. I expect a similar trend to appear around the world.
This shows that MS is adapting, thinking, becoming self-aware.
Pushing back the date further and further.
One big console/game sale push in September, another big one in November when GTA IV comes out, looking for big holiday sales to compete with the other one and a half systems this holiday system.
Man, thank god E3 is dead. No artifical buildups to announcements, just information.
Build-ups are half the fun. I'm enjoying the countdown for both Blizzard and (recently) Smash Bros. Nice anticipation and excitement.
In four weeks, I'm going to tell you where I'm going to stick my foot.
Mixed messages much?
I like the idea of many seperate E3's, you know all these developers days. A little bit of info every month or two.
Another thing, the video game blogs had this one nailed for a long, long time. I wasn't shocked that this was the release date.
Now the only real surprise for the holiday season this year will be which of the Wii games actually hit. I think making odds would be much more fun than all this dick eating nonsense. I'm going for Brawl and Corruption, with Galaxy sometime next spring.
what is the significance of 7 in relation to this game?
Bungie really really really has a thing for the number seven.
Another interesting fact about Bungie is their use of the number seven. Many of these are more obvious than others, including 343 Guilty Spark (73 = 343), 2401 Penitent Tangent (2+4+0+1=7 or 74 = 2401), Power of Seven (credited for the Marathon 2: Durandal and Marathon Infinity opening songs, and most of Oni's soundtrack), Pfhor Battle Group 7, and their official fan club, the 7th Column, but some of these are amusingly subtle: the Marathon colony ship was the hollowed out Deimos - first discovered in 1877 and first photographed in 1977. Also, in the Halo universe, there were originally seven Halos scattered throughout the Milky Way galaxy until the main protagonist destroyed one of them

FUCK! my wallet!
The next Call of Duty is in line for this year as well. If anything, this all worries me. AAA titles have never been pumped out at this kind of pace...surely some of them won't meet expectations. It's...just too much.

Didn't Metroid Prime 2 launch hideously close to Halo 2? I wonder if the same thing will happen...
Nintendo has Metroid, Smash Bros. Brawl, AND Mario Galaxy which haven't been dated yet, but confirmed for this year.
They've released their line-up through June, so you can bet one of more of these will be very close to the Halo 3 launch. Of course, that's assuming they all make it this year.

Yeah, Halo 3, GTA: IV, Metroid Prime 3, and potentially MGS4 are meeting up this holiday season just like Halo 2, GTA: SA, Metroid Prime 2, and MGS3 did holiday season 2004.
Reggie has said that he wants MP3 to be a big hit though, I think they're going to be marketing the shit out of it.

EDIT: BEAT'D LOL
It really ought to be a holiday. Ought to be.
I know what I'm doing that day at least...
Excellent, Bungie. Excellent.
GTA wouldn't launch as early as September, but October-November is a reasonable release date.
I'm in class right now, I can't take news like this!
Now, to find a clandestine location to change my pants...

I really bet they were originally shooting for July 7th.
Why, oh why, did it have to start around the same time my classes do?!

It's a damn guarantee that quite a few of those will be overlooked.
